Dimensional Gates - doller554

Laurel's Day became too powerful to just be a side game inside of Dimensional Gates alone. What is happening is we are releasing Laurel's Day September 19th alongside the Dimensional Gates Demo as a full game release. Being inexpensive and at a 40% discount for two weeks from launch date, Laurel's Day is a great way for you to get more information on how Not Allowed to Die Gaming Studios makes games. The Dimensional Gate Demo doesn't tie things up and end a game, but Laurel's Day will allow you to see how powerful the endings Not Allowed to Die Gaming Studios makes.

I will also be including Laurel's Day inside of the Dimensional Gates Collector's Edition as well...

Bibidi Bibidi! - Indiana-Jonas
✨ Hello fellow Wizards, Witches and Spellcasters! ✨

We're pleased to announce an update to our public alpha playtest! We've added this little guy as a shopkeeper in-between combat encounters. Adorable little menace, isn't he? If you don't watch out, he'll rip you off though, so stay vigilant.

With that and various other changes, we've reached a pretty solid milestone on our roadmap. Our core gameplay features are in, we've got silly voices for the wizard, a solid set of basic cards and combat encounters. But what else is on planning, you ask? Let's take a look shall we?

The Road Map

We've planned out various updates for the coming months. Hopefully this will give you a decent idea of what the game has in store for the future.

💫 Sigils Update

In the next update, we'll be introducing our take on Relics/Artifacts that we've come to know and love from deckbuilders. These will be passive upgrades you collect throughout your run to really tie your build together. We'll also add more cards, effects and hopefully encounters to make the game more varied and fun.

🚪 Doors Update

After that, we'll be taking a look at interesting ways to find your way through the dungeon. Select risky elite encounters for better rewards or play it safe by sticking to shops and easier combat. We might handle things a little differently than that you're used to, so keep an eye out.

📋 Further down the line...

After that, we've got a whole slew of content planned.

Content/Feature

Status

New spell cards, schools and effects.

🔨 Upcoming...

More varied monsters and combat encounters.

🔨 Upcoming...

Managing and previewing your deck.

Permanent progression systems

Events, narrative and non-combat encounters.

New potions and consumables.

Spellbooks and classes!

Difficulty scaling and ascension system.

New and alternative bosses.

Steam achievements.

Music and better sound effects (we will squeeze that in somewhere)

To clarify, this is a rough idea of which order we will do things. It might change a bit on the fly depending on what happens and on your feedback.

As the artist (hey it's Jonas), I'd also like to mention that this is not the final look of the game. All the art in the game is basically sketches. I will polish it all up when we feel confident about the designs of the backgrounds and characters.

One last thing!

Now is a great time to jump in! Since we want this game to have a lot of replay value, we need your feedback to get there. So please come share your feedback with us in the official Bibidi Bibidi discord!

Or just come to hang out and talk wizardry with us. OK, that's all for now!

Bibidi Bye!

Grit and Valor - 1949 - Megabit Bruce

Greetings, Commanders!

Kevin is back again with another Developer Diary! This time we’re delving into our planned overhaul of the Overclocks system. Thanks to your invaluable feedback, we found ways to make each run feel more unique and satisfying.

Overclocks can be equipped to Mechs in the Mech Yard after earning enough Power (granted by Modules). These give your Mechs a definitive edge during combat, such as by dealing more damage against bosses or reviving your Mech once it reaches 0 HP. However, we felt that this system was going underused for a few reasons:

  • Limited variety

  • Clear winners for most OP Overclocks (Phoenix Protocol *cough*)

  • Hidden away in the Mech Yard

  • Grindy to earn Power for Overclock slots

In our new system, coming in Update 4 along with VR Mode on 21 August, Overclocks are now accessible through collecting rewards during gameplay. Their other core mechanics remain similar but with some key improvements:

  • More Overclocks – a greater variety of Overclocks to choose from

  • Better run variation – Overclocks no longer carry over into new runs so different combinations can be chosen each run with no go-to choices

  • Playstyle defining - Overclocks are now more playstyle defining. Enhancement and Boosts have been reworked to be more Power focused to complement this

  • More accessible – Overclocks are now available during main gameplay and from the get-go

New Overclock Examples
  • Phalanx Resolve – When this Mech kills an enemy, a nearby ally restores health

  • Adrenal Redline – While at low health, this Mechs fire rate and movement speed are increased every second, stacking up to 100 times

You'll hear all the full details about the updated Overclocks system in the full Update 4 patch notes on 21 August!

Until then, thanks as always for your feedback and support. If you'd like to hear more from us about Grit and Valor, join our Discord server and follow us on social media!
