As we’ve previously announced, official support for Marvel’s Avengers: Definitive Edition is ending on Sept. 30, 2023, and the game will no longer be purchasable on Steam. However, we wanted to reassure you that while the game will no longer be for sale, the game will remain playable for owners largely as it is today.

To be specific on what is and isn’t changing on Sept. 30, 2023:
  • All currently available content will continue to be available as-is for solo and multiplayer play after Sept. 30, 2023.
  • If you own the game, it will remain in your game library for download and reinstallation after Sept. 30, 2023.
  • Limited-Time Events like the Red Room Takeover will continue to run after Sept. 30, 2023. These events will run in a two-week rotation. Reoccurring mission chains, events, and rewards will continue to refresh on the cadences they always have.
  • Customer support will no longer be available after Sept. 30, 2023.
  • All Operations and the War for Wakanda Expansion will continue to be playable as they are now.
Thank you to all our players for joining us on these adventures and letting us tell our stories with Kamala, Bruce, Tony, Steve, Nat, Thor, Clint, Kate, T'Challa, Pete, Jane, and Bucky. For anyone who hasn’t joined us yet, we hope you jump on this final chance to join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes alongside your friends.

Update 2.8.2 goes live today on all platforms addressing a few issues that arose in Update 2.8. We expect this to be the final patch to Marvel’s Avengers before the end of support on September 30, 2023.

Reassemble Campaign & Avengers Initiative
Update 2.8.2 addresses the issue preventing founders – any player who has earned an Achievement/Trophy prior to April 1 – from receiving Iron Man’s ‘Variable Threat Response Battle Suit.’
  • Some players aren’t able to receive this Founders’ Gift if they migrated from PS4 to PS5 and didn’t earn any Trophies before April 1. Update 2.8.2 offers this workaround: Load the PS4 version of Marvel’s Avengers, and equip the Variable Threat Response Battle Suit. Then, migrate your PS4 save to PS5. If you do this, the next time you log in on the PS5 version, the Outfit will be unlocked.
  • On other platforms, the Founders’ Gift may appear as locked for players who deleted their original save file and are playing on a new save file. Restarting the game will unlock the Founders’ Gift for these players.
We fixed the issue where Update 2.8’s removal of Hero Cards prevented the completion of certain mission chains by removing all objectives related to Hero Cards.

Update 2.8 is the final content update for Marvel’s Avengers. Official support will end on September 30, 2023. For more questions about our end-of-support plans for Marvel’s Avengers, please see our End-of-Support Q&A.

NEW FEATURES
The Marketplace has been unlocked! What does this mean?

  • Nearly all MCU- and non-MCU-inspired Outfits, Emotes, Takedowns, and Nameplates are now automatically available on your Hero Card.
  • Items that are earned through the campaign or purchased through the Cosmetic Vendor must be earned or purchased, respectively, as they always have been.
  • Both the Shipments system and Hero Challenge Cards have both been completely removed from the game. Items that were previously earnable from Shipments and Hero Challenge Cards are included in the hundreds of Marketplace items that are automatically granted when you update to v2.8.
  • You do not need to be connected to the internet to be able to access all of the unlocked Marketplace content after updating to v2.8.
  • As a thank-you to players who’ve been with us on the journey, we’re granting a special Founder’s Gift – Iron Man’s ‘Variable Threat Response Battle Suit.’ This Outfit will be automatically granted to any player who has earned at least one Trophy/Achievement before April 1.
  • All existing Credits balances have been converted to in-game resources. Please see our Patch Notes blog, which breaks down that conversion. For questions regarding your balance conversion, please contact our Support team at: http://support.crystald.com/
  • Owned Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment Extractors have been completely removed from the game. In their place, there is now a permanent 1.5x multiplier on Fragments earned and XP gained.
  • There will be a small hotfix, Update 2.8.1, that goes live on April 4 to address a Known Issue. (This issue is detailed in the Patch Notes.)

REASSEMBLE CAMPAIGN & AVENGERS INITIATIVE
  • Friendly fire! AI Companions will no longer target Kate Bishop’s Decoy when it is deployed during certain boss encounters.
  • We fixed an exploit where the Winter Soldier could activate the heavy intrinsic attack ‘Blast Zone’ as a heavy dodge attack if ‘Vengeful Ghost’ was not a purchased skill.
  • Banter between Jane and Bucky, which wasn’t activating for some players, now triggers when intended.


COMBAT
  • We fixed an issue where Black Panther’s ‘Kinetic Boom’ skill was not increasing the damage of ‘Panther’s Dive.’
  • Thor’s ‘Rampant Supercharge’ perk now functions properly when ‘Warrior’s Fury’ is activated.
  • Hawkeye’s ‘Rocket Arrow’ wasn’t initiating for some players when the ‘Volatile Rockets’ skill was activated, but the ‘Rocket Arrow’ now activates, as intended.
  • Switching gun types at the start of a charge animation no longer prevents the Winter Soldier from executing ranged power attacks.
  • You are no longer able to use the Winter Soldier’s ‘Press the Charge’ skill without having first acquired it.
  • The Mighty Thor’s gear perk ‘Divine Blast Assistance’ now applies intrinsic overload to teammates, as intended.
  • The Winter Soldier’s ‘Lethal Rampant Plasma Boost’ perk now grants nanites when intended.
  • Ms. Marvel’s ‘Ultimate Lethal Cryo Administrator’ gear perk now applies the correct number of Cryo charges to allies.
  • The Ultimate Lethal Plasma Administrator gear perk now grants charges when defeating an enemy on the initial hit.
  • The Winter Soldier’s ‘Reactive Gamma Administrator’ gear perk now grants the correct number of charges to allies when using ‘Soldier’s Generosity.’
  • Similarly, we fixed the Winter Soldier’s ‘Reactive Gamma Administrator’ perk so that it grants charges, as intended, to allies for hitting enemies with ‘Bloodletting.’
  • Both the Winter Soldier’s ‘Cryo-’ and ‘Plasma Administrator’ perks now grant charges to allies.
  • Ms. Marvel’s ‘Polymorph Counter Spike’ perk now increases Critical Attack Damage, as intended.
  • Kate Bishop’s ‘Explosive Blast Frenzy’ perk now increases the firing speed of explosive arrows, as intended.
  • We fixed an issue with Heroes and invisibility where completing a takedown would enable enemy attacks on the player while the invisibility effect was active. That’s not how invisibility works!


GEAR & REWARDS
Endgame Mission Rewards (Both OLTs and Raid)
  • Superior gear can now be obtained from every completion, not just the weekly rotation.
  • Family Reunion and both versions of the Discordant Sound raid now grant up to PL 165 gear.
  • Events and Cloning Lab now provide a path to PL 175 gear.
Gear Upgrading – PL 165 to PL 175
  • Resources required to bring a piece of gear from the old PL cap to the new PL cap has been reduced.
  • Upgrade module cost is now capped at 150 per upgrade within this range.
  • Dismantling exotic gear returns 100 upgrade modules. 50 are returned from legendary gear.
Gear
  • Nanite charges from Cloning Lab gear now apply status damage via heavy melee attacks. Status build-up has been increased.
  • Cooldowns reduced for major artifact active effects.
  • Exotic artifact stat scaling improved.


USER INTERFACE
  • The Winter Soldier’s skill icons now display properly in the Hero Terminal.
  • JARVIS is back online! The Cloning Lab gear reward charges were not always appearing on the HUD when defeating enemies, but charges now display properly.
  • Lorem oop-sum! We replaced the placeholder text that appears in Captain America’s ‘Vanguard Charge’ skill with the correct description.
  • We repositioned Hawkeye’s Heroic Mission Chain reward icon to appear in the correct place.


ART & ANIMATION
  • When wearing his “Wasteland Warrior” Outfit, Hulk’s right shoulder no longer tears during gameplay.
  • The Winter Soldier’s gun no longer clips through his armor during gameplay.
  • The Winter Soldier’s muzzle flash VFX now display properly when executing takedowns on dreadbots during multiplayer sessions.
  • There’s a glitch in the multiverse! The Mighty Thor now uses the correct Mjolnir when activating her Ultimate while wearing her MCU-inspired Outfit.
  • Cap’s shield can do many things, but invisibility is not one of them! We fixed an issue where Captain America’s shield would disappear momentarily when using the ‘Looking Sharp’ emote.
  • We fixed an issue where the Winter Soldier’s rifle would appear, stuck to his hand, during several interactions on the Helicarrier (including the interaction with Mjolnir).
  • Similarly, the Winter Soldier’s rifle no longer attaches to random props when performing various emotes.
  • We adjusted The Mighty Thor’s ‘Unhelmed’ Outfit mesh so that the Outfit displays the correct hair color.
  • Bucky’s legs no longer distort or experience clipping with Cap’s shield when using the ‘Passing the Mantle’ emote.
  • Captain America’s shield now reseats on his arm properly when activating his intrinsic ability while vaulting.


KNOWN ISSUES
  • Faction Terminal Missions and Assignments will not be completable from 12 p.m. UTC to 5 p.m. local time. This will be fixed in an upcoming hotfix, Update 2.8.1, which launches on April 4.

Hero Updates

Black Panther
  • Like both Captain America and the Winter Soldier, Black Panther can now activate an accelerated sprint by activating his Panther Cowl defensive ability when traversing with sprint. No intrinsic is spent on use, but the meter must not be empty.
  • Black Panther’s Formidable Opponent intrinsic ability upgrade now reduces the amount of intrinsic meter depleted when attempting to block or failing to parry a strong or unblockable attack from 50% to 65%.


Captain America
Captain America's Assault Heroic Ability, 'Steamroller,' has received an update to its specializations and itemization.
  • Specialization 'Concussive Strike' has been combined with the Tide Breaker specialization. Tide Breaker now deals 25% increased Heroic Attack and Stun damage on both the initial attack and follow-up attack.
  • Specialization 'Concussive Strike' has been replaced with 'I Can Do This All Day.' 'I Can Do This All Day' temporarily provides unlimited Shield Block energy upon activating Steamroller. Allowing near infinite offensive and defensive Intrinsic opportunities while the buff is active.
  • Specialization 'Second Wind' now has a chance to drop Regen packs on hit instead of on enemy defeat. Tougher enemies have a higher chance to drop Regen Packs—allowing this specialization to have a more active effect in endgame encounters.
  • Specialization 'Vanguard Charge' now has a chance to drop Heroic Orbs on hit instead of on enemy defeat. Tougher enemies have a higher chance to drop Heroic Orbs—allowing this specialization to have a more active effect in endgame encounters.
  • Specialization 'Everyday Hero' now has a chance to drop Intrinsic Orbs on hit instead of on enemy defeat. Tougher enemies have a higher chance to drop Intrinsic Orbs—allowing this specialization to have a more active effect in endgame encounters.
  • 'Steamroller' will now apply Status Damage unlocked through Gear Perks on Ranged Attacks.

Kate Bishop
  • Kate Bishop’s base Overcharge duration on 'Quantum Surge' has been increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
  • We’ve fixed various fidelity glitches and performance issues with Kate Bishop’s 'Decoy' Heroic Ability commonly experienced during combat, including vanishing arrows and animation misalignments.
  • To bring Kate Bishop's Heroic Gameplay and Gear Itemization into balance, 'Quantum Overdrive' now incorporates all equipped Status Effect gear perks into the Heroic Buff. Quantum Arrows, Charged Quantum Arrows, and the Quantum Energy Bolts now inherit all Status Effect damage applied by Razor Arrows, Scatter Shot Arrows, or Explosive Arrows. Additionally, all Lightweight and Heavyweight Status Effect gear perks now applies Status Effect on Quantum Scythe projectiles when activating Combo Finishers.

Hulk
  • Hulk’s 'Bounding Jump' may now be activated from a standing jump and without holding forward. This should allow easier traversal reaching platforms directly above Hulk without repositioning.
  • Hulk’s tolerance to enemy attacks has increased while grabbing enemies. Hulk will continue to hold on to grabbed enemies when struck with lighter attacks but will drop enemies on attacks with stronger reactions.

Iron Man
We’ve reviewed Energy Costs on all Iron Man attacks using Repulsors, Lasers, and Rockets and have heavily scaled these numbers down to improve Iron Man’s intrinsic economy during combat. We’ve detailed the changes as followed.
  • All Repulsor Energy Costs have been reduced by 75%.
  • All Laser Energy Costs have been reduced by 60%.
  • All Rocket Energy Costs have been reduced by 50%.
  • The Repulsor Efficiency ranged specialization has been increased from 10% to 25%.
  • The Laser Efficiency ranged specialization has been increased from 10% to 20%.
  • The Rocket Efficiency ranged specialization has been increased from 10% to 15%.
  • Iron Man’s 'Afterburner' Skill now remains active once held and released, like sprint. This decision to change the action to a toggle should increase the quality of life for our console players—increasing its maneuverability both in and out of combat. In line with the new updates, the intrinsic cost of these abilities has been removed as well.

Ms. Marvel
  • Ms. Marvel’s immunity to Knockdown and Knockback has been boosted and should now resist interruption from more impactful enemy attacks.

Spider-Man
  • All Bosses may now receive Web Damage from Spider-Man. Webbed Bosses are not restrained when webbed and can’t stick to ceilings or walls. However, all skills and gear perks that enhance attacks and damage against webbed targets can now activate on any webbed Bosses.

Thor & Mighty Thor
  • Both Thors' 'Speed Burst' Skills now remain active once held and released, like sprint. This decision to change the action to a toggle should increase the quality of life for our console players—increasing its maneuverability both in and out of combat. In line with the new updates, the intrinsic cost of these abilities has been removed as well.

REASSEMBLE CAMPAIGN & AVENGERS INITIATIVE
  • We’ve adjusted Exotic gear and the Ultimo-Stone minor artifact stat growth at Power Levels 167, 171, and 175, which we found were undertuned. An example of this new stat growth is that exotic 2 stat gear can reach 132 per attribute.
  • Pym, Cryo, Gamma, and Web status can now fully stack on either of Monica’s Exos in the final encounter of ‘No Rest for the Wicked.’
  • We added several collision boxes during the final boss encounter in ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ to prevent clipping through the room.
  • That’s not canon! Bucky will no longer appear in the Helicarrier as an NPC when you play as the Winter Soldier.
  • We fixed an issue causing vendors not to carry certain gear if the player was PL 180 or above.
USER INTERFACE
  • The file icon that is displayed in the audio file reward banner is no longer off-center.
  • The Winter Soldier’s ‘Winter Kills’ mission chain now properly displays all rewards.
COMBAT
  • Players can now switch between the Winter Soldier’s ranged settings without the Hero becoming stuck.
  • We added the correct sounds to Winter Soldier’s in-air Ultimate Heroic.
  • The Winter Soldier’s sound effects when using the ‘Stone Cold Kick’ and ‘Explosive Entrance’ skills are now correct!
  • The Winter Soldier’s ‘Soldier Tech’ Heroic Support Skill no longer provides an invisibility buff that exceeds the stipulated time.
  • Spider-Man can no longer perform Wreckage Takedowns on Monica’s Exos in ‘No Rest for the Wicked.’

ART AND ANIMATION
  • Fixed a distortion on the chest crest of Hawkeye’s ‘Modern’ Outfit.
  • The Starbrand on Hulk’s chest when wearing the ‘1,000,000 B.C.’ Outfit now illuminates properly.
  • We fixed the face skin weighting on multiple Heroes to prevent facial rig deforming.
  • Fixed an issue where equipping the High-Caliber loadout on Black Widow only granted one pistol for both hands during Takedowns. "No Such Thing As Too Much" and "A New Kind of Trust Fall" will now switch Black Widow to her pistols if she's utilizing High-Caliber, only for the duration Takedown, and revert back to High-Caliber once finished.
  • We adjusted Thor’s Unhelmed Outfit inspired by ‘Marvel Studios’ Thor’ to prevent clipping when performing certain emotes.
  • The Winter Soldier’s ‘Galvanized Stealth’ skill will no longer cause other players to turn invisible when his ‘United in the Shadows’ skill isn’t active.
  • Mjolnir and Undrjarn now illuminate as intended when the Mighty Thor uses the ‘Mjolnir Chat’ emote in Outposts.
GEAR, CHALLENGES, & REWARDS
  • Hulks ‘Lethal Support Cryo Administrator’ perk now grants the correct nanites to allies.
  • Iron Man’s ‘Support Cryo Boost’ perk no longer grants nanites when activating Hulkbaster, as intended. This perk should only activate Arc Overload and not with entering Hulkbuster.
  • The ‘Lethal Ranged Plasma Administrator’ perk on the new Cloning Lab gear no longer overrides the ‘Ultimate Lethal Plasma Administrator’ perk.

NEW FEATURES

New Winter Soldier Mission Chain: ‘Winter Kills’

A new mission chain for the Winter Soldier is available in 2.7.1 - ‘Winter Kills’ - and it rewards players with a full set of Power Level 165 gear!

Yes – barring the objectives you have to complete for the mission chain, this more or less allows new players to skip the grind for Winter Soldier and jump right into challenging endgame content like our new Omega-Level Threat: AIM’s Cloning Lab.

We’ve seen so many new and returning players log in to experience the Winter Soldier (Sidenote: your Photo Mode shots of Bucky are giving us life), and we want these players to experience the thrill of completing endgame challenges too. The PL 165 barrier to entry can be restrictive, so our goal with this new mission chain is to give more players an easier path into the endgame loop.

That said, ‘Winter Kills’ is not an immediate skip to PL 165; you'll need to complete a list of objectives that starts with finishing Bucky’s Heroic Mission Chain and culminates in completing the Discordant Sound raid (on Normal difficulty). You’d typically have to go through our endgame loop for weeks to obtain max PL gear, but through ‘Winter Kills,’ which can breezily take about a week to get through, players now have an easier path into our endgame content than before.

Here’s a breakdown of the gear and resources you’ll earn from the new mission chain:

  • Melee Exotic Gear 165 (Hero A - Classic set)
  • Ranged Exotic Gear 165 (Hero A - Classic set)
  • Defense Exotic Gear 165 (Hero A - Classic set)

REASSEMBLE CAMPAIGN & AVENGERS INITIATIVE

  • Having Kamala as a companion while equipped with the “Polymorph Counter Spike” perk no longer causes the game crash that some players experienced after Update 2.7.
  • In the new Omega-Level Threat: AIM’s Cloning Lab, MODOK can no longer dodge to the side while his gigabeam is active.
  • Also in the Cloning Lab, we added collision boxes to certain environmental elements in the boss encounter room to prevent Heroes from clipping into the world.
  • Similarly, the camera for some players would clip under the floor when those players would take damage during the MODOK fight. We’ve updated the collision elements in the floor assets to prevent this from happening.
  • We fixed an issue causing the camera to lock onto the player during the MODOK fight rather than MODOK.
  • MODOK will occasionally follow flying Heroes without attacking them, but the Avengers don’t get off that easy! MODOK will now attack flying Heroes, as intended.
  • Damage modifiers were not applied correctly to MODOK when targeting specific parts of him – specifically the head and terrigen crystal. We’ve fixed this so that damage modifiers are applied correctly!
  • When playing with a full Strike Team, MODOK’s gigabeam VFX weren’t displaying for at least one player in the party. All players in a Strike Team will now see the VFX.Matchmaking hosts controllers will no longer vibrate when another player in the party playing as Winter Soldier shoots his rifle.

USER INTERFACE

  • We updated the mission chain descriptions for “Omega-Level Threat: AIM Cloning Lab” to have the correct descriptions.

ART AND ANIMATION

  • MODOK’s back battery was missing its gem, so we added the VFX in for that!
  • Bucky no longer draws his weapon automatically after using a melee attack.

GEAR, CHALLENGES, & REWARDS

  • Black Widow’s ‘Support Cryo Administrator’ Perk no longer grants double the expected nanites to allies.
  • Black Panther’s ‘Ultimate Gamma Administrator’ Perk no longer doubles the expected amount of nanites to allies.
  • ‘Ultimate Lethal Cryo’ and ‘Ultimate Gamma Administrator’ Perks now grant charges for appropriate Heroes as intended.

KNOWN ISSUES & WORKAROUNDS

  • A quick update on gear! Stat growth on exotic gear pieces and the Ultimo-Stone legendary minor artifact is currently under-tuned. We are working on a fix so that there will be greater jumps in stat growth at PL 167, 171, and 175 than at present. (Currently, the stat growth gates are at PL 171 and 174.) This fix is not present in this update – 2.7.1 - but will come shortly after! For now, our recommendation is that you do not upgrade your favorite gear pieces past PL 170 until the fix is live. Thank you for your patience!

NEW FEATURES

A New Avenger Arrives: Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. the Winter Soldier!

The Winter Soldier is now available for all players. Armed with powerful weapons – from a shotgun to a grenade launcher – Bucky plays as a ranged specialist.

Bucky’s Hero Card is packed with Outfits and consumable items for you to unlock as you level up. Don’t miss out!

New Omega-Level Threat: AIM’s Cloning Lab

MODOK is alive, and he’s planning his next move from AIM’s Cloning Lab in the Utah Badlands. Assemble your Strike Team for this endgame-level challenge, which requires your Heroes to be at Power Level 175 or higher to start and ends with a new boss fight against the mad scientist himself. You’ll need to bring your A-game... MODOK’s learned some new tricks since you defeated him in the Reassemble campaign!

Increased Power Level Cap

We’ve increased the Power Level cap from 175 to 185! To level up from 175, you’ll need to earn the new gear rewarded for completing the new Omega-Level Threat: AIM’s Cloning Lab.

PATCH NOTES

REASSEMBLE CAMPAIGN & AVENGERS INITIATIVE
  • Some players experienced an issue where Hulk’s ‘Unbearable Might’ and ‘Survival Instincts’ skills would relock when starting certain missions. Loading into missions will no longer lock these skills.

  • We’ve made a few tweaks to Monica in the ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ boss encounter:

  • We’ve moved Monica’s spawn in front of the players’ spawn point so Monica will notice them faster, fixing an issue where Monica will shrink herself when turning.
  • We fixed an issue where Monica’s teleportation VFX and audio can fall out of sync for some players.
  • Monica can no longer be affected by Spider-Man's Webbed status, as this wasn’t intended in our mission design.
USER INTERFACE
  • Spoiler alert! In ‘No Rest for the Wicked,’ Monica’s life bar used to display before players entered the room where they encounter her. We’ve updated the mission so that her life bar doesn’t appear until after players enter the room.

Elite Villain Sector: No Rest for the Wicked!

SHIELD has detected a great power source coming from an AIM lab in the Utah Badlands, and it looks like Monica is running the operation herself. Assemble your Strike Team and take her on in our new Elite Villain Sector, which rolls out on 9/20 in Update 2.6.



Hero Updates

In our August Development Update, we said that future updates would tweak Heroes’ combat and traversal in efforts to make each character feel more Heroic in gameplay. Update 2.6 is the first of these updates and predominately focuses on Heroic abilities.

To better balance our combat, we’ve reviewed our enemies’ attacks and Hero’s hit reactions to damage. To alleviate problems of systemic combat situations where the player can be overwhelmed and spammed with too much damage at one time from multiple enemies, we’ve incorporated armor on the player that will completely protect players from damage within that fraction of a second – not only granting players a fair amount of time to escape any follow-up attacks, but also granting priority back to the initial enemy attacker who won’t have their own attacks interrupted by collateral damage. This armor only lasts on the player until they’re able to abandon the reaction through dodging, evading, or jumping.

Another global change we’ve made applying to all Heroes is that when players activate Heroic Attacks, all pushback damage done now applies Stun Damage and scales with Heroic and Melee damage, instead of just Heroic.

We will also be rolling out additional updates to individual heroes going forward to also not just balance combat, but support and expand on the super experience.



Iron Man Updates

Unibeam

  • Damage from Unibeam will no longer be reduced when attacking targets that are beyond mid-range.
  • Increased Unibeam Specialization Reserve Capacitors’ Attack Damage by 265%.
  • Increased Unibeam Specialization Reserve Capacitors’ Stun Damage by 275%.

Hulkbuster

  • Software updates to Hulkbuster’s operating system have been intermittently deployed within past updates to bring Iron Man’s skill and gear functionality proportionate to other Hero’s Ultimate Heroics. Hulkbuster (2.0) will now utilize any Hero skills, gear perks, and other status effects equipped on Iron Man and will retain these abilities even when another pilot operates Hulkbuster.
  • Increased Hulkbuster’s Magno-Missile Attack Stun Damage by 135%.
  • Damage from Hulkbuster’s Unibeam will no longer be reduced when attacking targets that are beyond mid-range.



Hulk Updates

  • Hulk’s Rage Intrinsic Ability now deals Gamma damage.
  • Willpower recovered through Rage, when struck by an enemy, has been increased to properly scale with enemy power levels beyond level 1.

WAR TABLE ONBOARDING REWORK
Patch 2.3 is all about the War Table, and our goal was to make the onboarding process simpler for new players. We’ve updated mission chains and the War Table to streamline this process, and Nick Fury returns in game to guide players through these changes. Read up on the update below:

War Table Updates: Mission Chains
To improve the experience for new players, we’ve changed the Power Level (PL) of specific content and created a new mission chain to guide players more easily through the Avengers Initiative’s variety of content. This new mission chain replaces several previous missions.

  • A new mission chain led by Nick Fury has been added. Reigning Supreme’s mission chain rewards are now included in this mission chain.
  • New mission chains meant to onboard players to various mission and systems have been added
  • A new mission chain has been added tracking completion of all Heroic Mission Chains except Spider-Man’s.
  • Reigning Supreme mission chain has been removed
  • Hive Mind mission chain has been removed
  • Cloning Around mission chain has been removed
  • Vault Discovery mission chain has been removed
  • SHIELD Protocols mission chain has been updated to unlock when any hero is at least Power Level 20. If the mission chain is already unlocked on an account prior to any hero being PL 20, you must get any hero to PL 20 to progress further in the mission chain.
  • Inhuman Sanctuary mission chain has been updated to unlock when any hero is at least Power Level 30. If the mission chain is already unlocked on an account prior to any hero being PL 30, you must get any hero to PL 30 to progress further in the mission chain.
  • Iconic Avengers mission chain has been updated to unlock when any hero is at least Power Level 10. If the mission chain is already unlocked on an account prior to any hero being PL 10, you must get any hero to PL 10 to progress further in the mission chain.
  • Last Avenger Standing mission chain has been updated to unlock when any hero is at least Power Level 130. If the mission chain is already unlocked on an account prior to any hero being PL 130, you must get any hero to PL 130 to progress further in the mission chain.
  • Beating the Odds mission chain has been updated to unlock when any hero is at least Power Level 20. If the mission chain is already unlocked on an account prior to any hero being PL 20, you must get any hero to PL 20 to progress further in the mission chain.
  • The Rise and Shine mission chain has been updated to completing a mission using Quickmatch.
  • Flashback Missions now have a new Icon.

War Table Updates: Missions

  • All Dropzones, Hives, and Threat Sectors are now always available on the War Table.
  • Faction Missions will now be removed from the War Table upon completion.
  • New Wasteland Dropzones and Threat Sectors have been added
  • A new Wasteland Vault has been added
  • Hero HARM Training rooms are now set to PL 1
  • The hopper system has been removed and all hopper-based missions such as Dropzones, Hives, and Threat Sectors are always visible on the War Table
  • Flashback Missions that end with a Villain have been replaced with Wasteland and Wakanda missions
  • HARM Challenges I-V will be unviewable on completion
  • HARM Challenges I-V and Priority HARM Challenges will now rotate once-a-day for users that have completed the HARM Challenges mission chain. This effect is retro-active for those that have already completed the mission chain prior to this patch.
  • Villain Sectors are now always visible on the War Table and no longer require grabbing a mission chain to unlock. Normal Villain Sectors require the player to be at least Power Level 25 to be viewable and Elite Villain Sectors require at least Power Level 90 to be viewable.
  • Vaults now require being Power Level 20 to view on the War Table
  • Flashback Threat Sectors now require being Power Level 80 to view on the War Table
  • Iconic Missions now require being Power Level 10 to view on the War Table
  • Faction Missions now require being Power Level 10 to view on the War Table
  • Tachyon Rifts now require being Power Level 110 to view on the War Table
  • Priority Threat Sectors now require being Power Level 140 to view on the War Table
  • Mega Hives now require being Power Level 140 to view on the War Table

War Table Updates: Factions

  • SHIELD Faction Mission Givers will now provide Vault mission chains instead of Villain Sector mission chains once per day.
  • A new weekly Elite Vault mission chain will be given
  • Inhuman Alliance Faction Mission Givers are now the only way to start Villain Sector mission chains, once per day.
  • A new weekly Elite Villain Sector mission chain will be given

War Table Updates: Matchmaking

  • Matchmaking is now only enabled for the following mission types outside of Quickmatch: Vault, Elite Vault, Villain Sector, Elite Villain Sector, Omega-Level Threat, Raid, Mega Hive, HARM Challenge, Priority HARM Challenge, as well as Event Missions: Corrupted Vibranium Threat Sector, Cosmic Threat Sector, Tachyon Rift, Flashback Threat Sector, and Priority Threat Sector.
  • Mission types with matchmaking disabled can be played solo or by inviting other players to your session.

Checkpoint Rewards for the Discordant Sound Raid
  • We have changed the setup of rewards to drop from major encounters in the Raid, rather than all at the end. There are now four instances in the Raid that will award Gear.

Normal Raid
  • Sonic Wall – Discordant Gear (Defense/Heroic Slot) *Power level Increase
  • Forge/Control Room (which is completed first) – Discordant Minor Artifact *Power level Increase
  • First Klaw Fight – Discordant Minor Artifact

Elite Raid

  • We have added Units as a reward to both the Mission Chain and the Mission itself. This means you will earn 1,000 Units when you complete it the first time per week, and 500 Units for each subsequent completion.
  • The mission Exotic remains the same.
  • The normal Raid will drop an additional Klaw Minor Artifact (though it will not improve your Power Level). We are still looking at improving the subsequent rewards and will update you when we have that plan finalized.
  • The new Mission Chain panel lists the order and what encounter gives you Gear.

Vault/Villain Sector Rewards

  • Vaults no longer need coordinates and can be picked up from the SHIELD Faction mission giver. One weekly Elite Vault and Villain Sector will also be a part of the weekly updates.
  • Vault and Villain Missions will always stay on the War Table, and their rewards now have a chance to drop the Exotic variants of their sets. Completing the daily and weekly Mission Chains gives a higher chance at the Exotic.
  • The weekly Elite Mission Chains will award two pieces of Gear: one will be either Melee or Ranged, and the other will be either Defense or Heroic.
  • Polychoron amounts have also been increased to 20 from normal and 30 from elite Vaults and Villain Sections.

Hero-Bound Mega Hives

  • The Mega Hives will work a little differently from other Hero-Bound Missions because of the elimination mechanic. If your Hero is above Power Level 140, even if you are knocked out during the Mega Hive, you will be able to claim weekly rewards after completing the Hive. Once those rewards are claimed, the Mission Chain will restart.
  • The first weekly completion per Hero will grant rewards. If you’d like to claim more rewards on the same Hero again, you will have to wait until the weekly reset.

Matchmaking Changes

  • Quickmatch - The Quickmatch option is now visible at both the regional and world view on the War Table. Quickmatchers will now match directly with each other. A random map from the Quickmatch pool is now selected upon mission launch. Groups can now queue for Quickmatch.
  • Join to Quinjet - On joining a Strike Team, players will now load directly into the Quinjet, skipping the load to the main menu. We’re introducing a voting system so that players can decide together on their preferred choice for important decisions. There are now new options including kicking a player, cancelling a selected map, and cancelling launch countdown.

Voting for Matchmaking

  • Select Mission. The strike team votes to select a mission from the War Table.
  • Interact/Story Vote. The strike team votes to begin a conversation/cutscene/etc. that will involve the entire Strike Team.
  • Fail On Expire Votes are a new voting option, which requires a unanimous yes vote to succeed. Players who abstain from voting will have their vote counted as a no. The following decisions are Fail On Expire.
  • Cancel Selected Mission. The selected mission is cancelled.
  • Cancel Mission Launch Countdown. Mission launch is aborted.
  • Matchmaking Toggle. Matchmaking is toggled to enabled or disabled for the Strike Team.
  • Kick Player. The chosen player is removed from the Strike Team. The player to be kicked is not informed of the vote, shown in the list of voting players, or tallied in the vote results.
  • Pass On Expire Votes are the former “Vetoes”, which only require one player to vote against the decision. Players who abstain from voting will have their vote counted as a yes. The following decisions are Pass On Expire.
  • Return to Quinjet. The strike team votes to return to the Quinjet if they’re in an active Warzone.
  • Reload Checkpoint. The strike team votes to reload checkpoint. This option is available in outposts and missions.

REASSEMBLE CAMPAIGN & AVENGERS INITIATIVE

  • Fixed a rare issue where players were unable to move in The Sound and the Fury after Crossbones leaves Klaw.
  • Fixed an issue in The Sound and the Fury where players might become trapped in Klaw’s bubbles indefinitely.

MULTIPLAYER & MATCHMAKING

  • Fixed an issue where black orbs no longer spawn in the Discordant Sound Raid.
  • Players no longer get stuck in a running animation if shot by the Command Crawler’s web attack in the Discordant Sound Raid.
  • Fixed an issue where the Command Crawler’s web effect no longer stays visible after a player is affected by it in the Discordant Sound Raid.
  • Fixed an issue when players collect anti-metal in the Discordant Sound Raid – the icon now properly appears on their screen rather than flickering.
  • In the Discordant Sound Raid, a small Crawler is no longer stuck in the jungle area.

ART & ANIMATION

  • When Black Widow is an NPC and wearing the Avenging Archer Outfit, she no longer wears glasses.
  • Mjolnir now appears in Thor’s Endgame Outfit when he performs God Blast.

  • In Japan, the Shipments button no longer appears as a black box when High Contrast Mode is selected.

  • War Table Rework - Iconic, SHIELD, and Inhuman Faction missions may appear on the War Table if they were completed prior to updating to Patch 2.3.
  • Nameplates flicker and may not reappear when a strike team loads into a mission.
  • Hawkeye's sword is sticking up from his feet in the character selection menu.
  • Missions in partially completed Operations may disappear after updating to Version 2.3.
  • A bug where Nick Fury's lip sync doesn't match his dialogue during the briefing.
  • A bug will occasionally send the fourth player loading into a Strike Team back to the main menu with a ‘connection error' message after accepting an invite to load into an Outpost.
  • Equipping a Cosmic Potentiator will show an increase in status build-up for all statuses and not just Cosmic in the Heroes display panel. This is a UI error, and we are investigating.
  • Some Potentiator perks when equipped in a warzone do not apply the bonus damage. We have found that reequipping them or equipping another Potentiator makes them function properly. We are currently investigating this issue.
  • Priority Threat Sector rewards display still says “Hero Set Gear” instead of “Apex Power Set.” This will be fixed in an upcoming patch to reflect the correct name.
  • Several villain sectors (Sight Unseen, in particular) show that they are giving out seven rewards instead of two on the War Table. This is a UI bug. Only the first two icons are the actual rewards – the others are not awarded upon completion. We are investigating why this is happening.
  • Elite Vaults have been reported to show their Mission Chain rewards on the War Table instead of its mission rewards. Elite Vaults only give gear and fragments as mission rewards and not units. We are investigating why this happens at such irregularity.
  • We’re aware of a UI issue causing overlapping text to appear when interacting with the Faction Terminal, Cosmetic Vendor, and Inhuman Faction mission giver, and we are looking for a fix.
