Major Updates

New Team Member: Brett

Please welcome Brett from the United States to the team! He will be helping with animation and creative work.

Some of his favorite games include the original Final Fantasy 7, Baldur’s Gate 3, The Last of Us, Resident Evil 2, and Stardew Valley. Outside of video games, he enjoys a homebrewed, 2-years-running DnD game, painting Warhammer 40k minis, binging shows, and reading. He also recently got back into running and marathons and has 3 cats named Hulk (Marvel), Nott (Critical Role), and Amira (Princess in Arabic), as well as a dog named Diego (Umbrella Academy).

PvE Rework
  • Mythium is now shared across your team, rather than across all 8 players

  • Re-enabled Redraw, Lock-In, and all Legions

  • Worker scaling now matches other Classic game modes

Because mythium was shared across all 8 players, workers in PvE were significantly weaker. This encouraged players to stop pushing workers earlier than expected and heavily prioritize value-generating units like Sakura, Eggsack, and Dwarf Banker. This change to PvE addresses the underlying problem and also allows us to re-enable Masterminds and Legions that were previously disabled.

Patch Notes Viewer

You can now view patch notes from within the game for all patches from v11.00, including a handy search feature!

Patch History in Codex

You can now view a history of all changes to units from v11.00 in Codex.

Mastermind Matchups on Drachbot

You can now view mastermind matchup data on Drachbot! Example takeaways:

  • Fiesta synergizes with Kingsguard and Cartel

  • Fiesta has anti-synergies with Fiesta (itself) and Saboteur

  • Fiesta counters Stash

  • Fiesta is countered by Cartel and Saboteur

"Nothing is certain except death, taxes, and Fiesta Cartel." - Benjamin Franklin

Double Lock-In

Removed from the game

Double Lock-In was a point of frustration in low MMR, where it was used to access pub stomping combos like Crab Warlock + Sacred Steed / Starcaller. It was also a point of frustration in high MMR because it reduced game-to-game variety and was primarily used to abuse the flavor-of-the-month strongest combo.

We don’t take the decision to remove something from the game lightly, but after a lot of consideration, we believe this is the best decision.

New Mastermind: Scrapper
  • +3 income

  • You can now Scrap units for 80% gold

Anyone who previously purchased Double Lock-In will receive Scrapper for free.

(Yes, we're using the same art - it's quite fitting for Scrapper!)

Shout out to Shadowings for the inspiration.

Tips for using Scrapper:

  • Build strong early game units (Nekomata, Fire Archer, Bone Crusher, Whirlybird, etc.), then Scrap them later in favor of strong late game units and synergies

  • Scrapper is especially good with auras because you can Scrap units that have already served their purpose, then suddenly have a super clean build buffed by auras

  • Access expensive units earlier. Think Doomsday Machine, Banana Haven, Sovereign, or Dread Knight on wave 9 or even earlier

  • New way to get out Eggsack on wave 2. For example, open with Wileshroom or Oathbreaker, then Scrap it for Eggsack

  • If you're expecting a big send, build for now, then on the following wave, Scrap and build for that wave - rather than having to guess "are they sending now or next?"

  • Reposition units more liberally

Game Balance

Read more about our design philosophy on game balance, and use Drachbot to see mastermind, unit, and spell win rates and pick rates!

Masterminds

We believe in incremental changes. Masterminds are largely substitutes for each other, which means if one mastermind is slightly better than another, it takes the lion's share of the pick rate.

For example, Cash Out used to be +20 gold and was considered the worst mastermind in the game. A few patches ago, we buffed Cash Out by 1 gold to 21, and it's now top tier.

Cartel

Income after wave 10: -38 → -39

Slightly high pick rate and high win rate.

Castle

Income after wave 10: 46 → 47

Slightly low pick rate and low win rate.

Champion

Damage reduction and attack speed: +10% → 10.25%

Low win rate.

Chaos

Starting resources: 4 income → 3 income + 4 gold

This change gives us more granularity to balance Chaos.

Redraw

Redraw gold cost reduced by 10% on average

Low pick rate.

Saboteur

Starting resources: 6 income + 4 gold → 6 income + 5 gold

Very low pick rate.

Yolo

  • Starting resources: 7 income → 7 income + 4 gold

  • You can no longer reroll

  • Removed unintended roll randomization bias that caused expensive fighters to be rolled more often

Rerolling is more like you only live… twice? Bringing back Yolo as the premier high skill, high variance, high adaptability mastermind.

Mastermind Rolls

  • You are no longer guaranteed a fortified/natural tank, swift/natural tank, or arcane tank

  • You are now guaranteed at least 1 true tank, which is defined as a high effective-health-per-gold fighter with value between 160 and 250

  • You are now guaranteed at least 1 true DPS, which is defined as a high effective-DPS-per-gold with value between 160 and 250

  • You are now guaranteed at least one high-priced fighter (T4-T5)

  • Removed unintended roll randomization bias that caused cheap fighters (T1s) and tanks to show up more often than other fighters

  • You are still guaranteed at least one cheap fighter (T1)

  • You are still guaranteed at least one mid-priced fighter (T2-T3)

  • You are still guaranteed at least one epic fighter (T6)

  • You are still guaranteed at least one source of fortified/natural defense, swift/natural defense, arcane defense, magic damage, impact damage, and pierce damage. However, the definitions here are applied liberally–Elite Archer could be your only arcane defense, and Sand Badger could be your only impact damage.

  • Fighters are now more equally likely to be rolled (refactored roll system)

Mastermind rolls always gave you multiple tank options, but the same didn’t apply for DPS. We’re making this consistent, but also don’t want mastermind rolls to be too safe. Part of the fun and skill of the game is adapting to tricky situations, including suboptimal rolls. These changes strike a nice balance between having viable rolls and sometimes forcing you to think on your feet ;)

On average, rolls will be less reliable in terms of defense types, but more reliable in terms of cost balance and presence of DPS.

Affected masterminds: Greed, Cash Out, Castle, Cartel, Champion, Stash, Fiesta, Saboteur, Kingsguard, and Scrapper.

Bounty
  • Breaker gold no longer gives a minimum of 1 gold, decreasing gold to the teammate(s) of the breaker by 1 on waves 1-3

  • Gold to the leaker decreased by 1 on waves 1-4

  • Net effects:

    • Leaking the wave is slightly more punishing on wave 4; otherwise, unchanged. Wave 4 was previously less punishing to leak on than other waves.

    • Mercenaries (other than Snail, Lizard, and Dragon Turtle) are slightly more punishing to leak on waves 2-4; otherwise, unchanged.

    • Breaking your opponent rewards your teammate less on waves 1-3.

    • Leaking is slightly more individually punishing on waves 1-4.

Leaky players will be less likely to be top power score, and breaker players will be less likely to be bottom power score. This should also reduce frustration with Fiesta teammates.

Legion Spells

Dark Ritual

Gold: 145 → 140

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Divine Blessing

Attack speed: 18% → 20%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Embargo

Mythium after wave 12 spawns: 80 → 75

High win rate.

Executioner

  • Now works with lifesteal (new synergy!)

  • Execution damage now shows up in the damage tracker

  • New, brighter icon (thanks to DarkQuacker for the suggestion)

Guardian Angel

Health: 1500 → 1550

Low pick rate.

Magician

Mana regeneration: 0.48 → 0.46

High pick rate and slightly high win rate.

Protector

Health: 650 → 700

Low win rate.

Pulverizer

  • Stun duration to non-bosses: 2.5 → 1.5 seconds

  • Now also gives 5% attack speed

Re-introducing attack speed as a lever to balance Pulverizer more incrementally. Too long of a stun duration wasn't particularly helpful, as the target was perma-stunned anyway.

Titan

Health: 1350 → 1400

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Vampire

Lifesteal and spell vamp: 28% → 30%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Venture

Maximum gold ventured: 105 → 100

High pick rate.

Villain

Damage amplification: 20% (12% on ranged) → 22% (13% on ranged)

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Fighters

Masked Spirit / False Maiden / Hell Raiser

Attack speed increased by 1.7%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Oathbreaker / Oathbreaker (Final Form)

Fixed a bug where activation of Unchained Rage was one attack delayed

Thank you to Julian and D2R for the bug reports.

Slime Siren

Damage decreased by 3.2%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Howler

Attack speed decreased by 1.4%

Sunfang

  • Health increased by 2.1%

  • Damage increased by 2.3%

  • Attack speed decreased by 1.4%

Shifting power from Howler to Sunfang.

Kingpin

  • Base health increased by 3.9%

  • Base damage increased by 2.2%

Very low pick rate and low win rate.

Seadragon / Lifebinder

Mana regeneration increased by 3.7%

Low win rate.

Dwarf Banker / Big Wig

Attack speed increased by 1.9%

Very low pick rate.

Tree of Knowledge

Auto attack damage decreased by 3.4%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Mudman / Golem

Health increased by 1.5%

Low win rate.

Butcher / Head Chef

Attack speed increased by 4.3%

Slightly low pick rate and low win rate.

Warp Wing / Void Manta

Damage increased by 2.4%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Cursed Casket / Cage of Pain / Iron Maiden

Health decreased by 1.4%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Crab Warlock / Crabomancer

  • Summoner damage increased by 3%

  • Summon health decreased by 3.5%

  • Summon damage decreased by 3.5%

Crab Warlock is a point of frustration in low and mid MMR. This power shift from the summon to summoner, the Pack Leader rework, and the removal of Double Lock-In from the game this patch should help (Crab Warlock was the most picked unit with Double Lock-In).

Additionally, here are tips to beat Crab Warlock:

  • Send the newly reworked Pack Leader

  • Send other DPS mercs: Brute, Imps, Ogre, Witch, or Centaur, depending on the rest of their frontline.

  • Send on impact and magic waves, notably waves 10, 13, 14, 16, and 20.

  • When in doubt, save mythium for one wave longer. It’s important to overwhelm them with a big send and not let the Crab Warlocks hit critical mass.

Antler

Thick Hide: Bonus damage reduction from Whitemane’s Council: 8% → 5%

High pick rate. Encouraging multi-unit synergies, rather than Whitemane + Antler spam.

Disciple

Decreased synergy with mana gain effects by 7%

Encouraging multi-unit synergies, rather than Starcaller + Disciple spam.

Radiant Halo / Arc of Justice

Attack speed increased by 1.7%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Gatling Gun / Vulcan Cannon

Attack speed decreased by 2.5%

High win rate.

Holy Avenger / Sovereign

Attack speed decreased by 2.1%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Millennium / Doomsday Machine

Attack speed increased by 1.9%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Mercenaries

Pack Leader

  • Health increased by 15%

  • Damage increased by 73%

  • Leadership Aura: 5 damage (15 for bosses) → 15% damage and ability damage, but also increases damage taken by 18% (allied units take more damage)

Pack Leader heavily incentivized cheap mercenary spam, making Pack + Imps outperform more expensive mercs. Beyond that and always sending on wave 16, it didn’t have a strong identity.

This change:

  • Makes Pack Leader’s identity a fast breaker, optimal against summoners, healers, and ramping builds and during base races

  • Makes Pack Leader work as intended with Four Eyes and Wave 18, which do ability damage

Centaur

  • Health increased by 0.7%

  • Attack speed increased by 1.5%

Low usage rate and slightly low win rate.

Ghost Knight

Health increased by 1.8%

Siege Ram

Health increased by 2.2%

Kraken

Health increased by 1.9%

Tank mercenaries as a class were too niche.

Shaman

Blood Lust now breaks ties based on the health of the target unit

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:

  • Summoners, healers, and ramping units, which are indirectly nerfed by the Pack Leader rework

  • Reduced false positive warnings for no tanks/DPS in rolls

  • Fixed an issue where the total bounty of the next wave doesn’t show during the build phase when hovering gold

  • Longer build phase when using -lockwave in sandbox

  • Ability to copy last week's weekly challenge builds

  • Added Nucleus monument

  • Improved visual clarity for Executioner VFX

  • Improved clarity for tutorial Legion select

  • Pinging Mimic now shows plunder gold

Game Balance

Read more about our design philosophy on game balance, and use Drachbot to see mastermind, unit, and spell win rates and pick rates!

Masterminds

Castle
Income after wave 10: 45 → 46

Compensation buff for Castle being indirectly nerfed by the changes to mercenaries this patch.

Double Lock-In
  • Income: 2 → 1
  • No longer in the pool for Megamind
Double Lock-In is strong in low MMR, where access to familiar combos trumps a bit of extra income. It’s also a point of frustration in high MMR because it reduces variety, is considered a low roll in Megamind, and is primarily used to abuse the flavor-of-the-month strongest combo.

Stash
Stash growth decreased by 3-4% on waves 9-21

Stash was received positively by the community, and its popularity even tops Chaos in low MMR and Megamind in high MMR. We’re happy with the design, but it’s a bit overtuned.

Legion Spells

All Out Assault
Mythium: 115 → 110

High win rate.

Black Market
Income: 58 --> 56

High pick rate and slightly high win rate.

Hero
Damage and damage reduction: 3.8% → 3.5%

High pick rate and slightly high win rate.

Pawn Shop
Gold: 70 --> 75

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Robo Squad
Mythium: 45 → 40

High win rate.

Sacrifice
Gold: 85 --> 90

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

King
King Upgrades
  • Upgrade Attack: 12% → 14%
  • Upgrade Spell: 6% → 7%
With the buffs to power mercs this patch, the king needs some compensation buffs.

Fighters

Gargoyle
  • Health decreased by 3.2%
  • Attack speed decreased by 2.6%
Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Slime Larva
Health and damage decreased by 3.2%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Ranger / Daphne
Bonus damage against bosses increased by 16.7%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Disciple
Mana Burst: Damage decreased by 6%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Pulsebot / Skybot
  • Damage increased by 3%
  • AOE range: 250 → 200
  • Fixed a bug where Leviathan’s Aerial Command was double-buffing Sky Bot
Less likely to hit ranged waves when a tank mercenary is sent, and fixed a bug with Leviathan. Compensation buff applied.

Priestess of the Abyss / Azeria
Attack speed increased by 2.2%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Millennium / Doomsday Machine
Attack speed increased by 1.8%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Mercenaries

This patch nerfs income mercenaries and buffs power mercenaries to encourage aggression.

We like that that early leaks are not super punishing economically, which encourages risk-taking. We also like that early leaks are threatening to the king, creating tension and asymmetric game states where one team is lower income and the other team is low king health, sometimes even resulting in decisive games before wave 10.

Snail
DPS decreased by 5.3%

No change to Giant Snail.

Dragon Turtle
DPS decreased by 4.6%

Fiend
Health increased by 1.3%
DPS decreased by 5%

Dino
Health increased by 1%
DPS decreased by 4.7%

Lizard / Cannoneer / Drake
Health decreased by 4%
DPS decreased by 1%

Robo
Attack speed increased by 2.6%

Brute
Health increased by 2.3%

Hermit
Health increased by 33%

Health is now consistent with other ranged mercenaries.

Safety Mole
Health increased by 2.6%

Pack Leader
Health increased by 2.5%

Mimic
  • Health increased by 3%
  • Damage increased by 1.7%

Honey Bear
Pot O’ Honey: Base heal: 850 → 900

We're happy with Honey Bear's design after the changes in February's Update, but it's slightly underperforming.

Ogre
  • Health increased by 3.1%
  • Attack speed increased by 1.2%

Witch
  • Attack speed increased by 2.5%
  • Froggo: Attack speed increased by 2.5%

Ghost Knight
Health increased by 2.6%

Four Eyes
Attack speed increased by 2.7%
Now more likely to be targeted by Shaman’s Blood Rush

Centaur
Health increased by 2.7%

Siege Ram
Health increased by 2.8%

Shaman
Blood Rush: 20% attack speed and 50 damage → 50% attack speed

Solidifying Shaman’s identity as a boss and big merc buffer. Attack speed is also thematically what Blood Rush was intended for.

Needler
  • Attack speed increased by 2.3%
  • Now more likely to be targeted by Shaman’s Blood Rush
Needler go brr~

Kraken
Health increased by 2.9%

Balance Watchlist
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
  • Crab Warlock in low MMR games
Improvements
  • Stash now shows which wave it was used in when hovering bottom left
  • Fixed some unexpected pathing for tank mercenaries
  • Added cards for Pulsebot and Skybot
  • EMP description now clarifies that it deals ability damage
  • Takeover bots now use Stash when a player had been disconnected for 5 minutes
  • Increased rec values slightly to account for buffs to power mercenaries
  • Hovering average leak % in post-game stats now shows the breakdown by wave

Team Sign-up Instructions
  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until May 17 5pm CEST.
  • To sign up, find a teammate and form a party. After you're both in the party, have one player type "/signup [team name]" (e.g. /signup Snail Kings) in chat. You should see a confirmation message that your sign-up went through. For those who participated in previous Nova Cups, you no longer need to do /join to signup.
  • The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. For division 1 and 2 the top 8 teams are drafted per division. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. {LINK REMOVED} to see your sign-up position and division.
  • If there are more than 32 teams checked in, there will be an additional best-of-1 qualifying round to allow more teams to participate. It is a best-of-1, rather than a best-of-3, to keep the event from running overly long.
  • Both players must join the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Make sure to set your server nickname to match your in-game name.
Solo Sign-ups
  • You may sign-up as a solo with a suggested team name using the "/signup [team name]" command. Solo teams will be added to the Public Teams list, then be formed into teams on the day of the tournament. Solo teams will be randomly assigned a team name from either of its members.
  • If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
  • If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
  • After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.
It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.

- Everyone that is level 3 or higher can join for free! First come, first served. So even if you recently joined the game, feel free to participate!

Twitch Drops

When you watch Nova Cups on the official channel, aside from enjoying shoutcasted top-tier Legion gameplay, you'll also receive in-game rewards based on how long you watch!

- Watch for 60 minutes: 2,000 essence
- Watch for an additional 90 minutes: 4,000 additional essence

Team Sign-up Instructions
  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until April 26 5pm CEST.

News
Major Updates

New Mastermind: Stash
  • Start with a piggybank with 19 gold. Each wave, it gains gold. Break it open once to collect the gold.
  • Gold gain per wave scales exponentially from 1 on wave 1 to 200 on wave 21, doubled if you leak.
Stash is a versatile Mastermind that rewards players who are flexible and adaptive. Break open your piggybank early for a quick boost, let it grow and scale into the late game, or save it for an important gold threshold or emergency. Because the stash growth is higher when you leak, it rewards risky play, but don't go leaking every wave - it ain't no Fiesta!

New Skins: Refractions
  • Introducing Refractions, recolored skins that let your favorite units shine in a new light! In addition to unique color palettes, some Refractions also have special VFX.
  • Compared to other skins, Refractions are available at a reduced price point, and they are the only skins that can be acquired for non-premium essence!
  • This patch's refractions include Frozen Nightmare, Bubble Gum Slime Larva / Slime Siren, Dryad Priestess of the Abyss / Azeria, Sanguine Lord of Death, and Nebula Hades

Monthly In-Game Reward Code
  • This month’s ultra-secret code is “workwork” to unlock some free Essence in-game!
  • Each month, a new code will be revealed right here in the patch notes. Codes are only valid during the month they are announced.
Here’s how to enter a code in-game:

Game Balance

Read more about our design philosophy on game balance, and use Drachbot to see mastermind, unit, and spell win rates and pick rates!

Masterminds

Lock-In
Randomming bonus gold: 8 --> 7

Slightly high pick rate and win rate and currently overshadowing Yolo.

Legion Spells

All Out Assault
Mythium: 120 → 115

Slightly high pick rate and high win rate.

Magician
Mana regeneration: 0.5 → 0.48

High pick rate and slightly high win rate.

Robo Squad
Mythium: 50 → 45

High win rate.

Sorcerer
Bonus ability damage: 55% → 58%

Low pick rate and win rate.

Titan
Health: 1300 → 1350

Low pick rate and win rate.

Fighters

Slime Larva
Attack speed decreased by 3.8%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Dwarf Banker / Big Wig
Health and damage increased by 3.6%

Very low pick rate and slightly low win rate.

Crab Warlock / Crabomancer
Summoner damage increased by 6%

Low pick rate and win rate.

Warp Wing
Damage increased by 2.3%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Yozora
Wintry Touch: Attack speed reduction: 0.75% → 1%

Arctaire
Frozen Veil: Attack speed reduction: 2.1% → 2.9%

This buff, intended for last patch, didn’t get properly applied.

Attack speed decreased by 1.9%

Whitemane
Damage decreased by 1.8%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Damage increased by 4%

Slightly low pick rate and low win rate.

Holy Avenger / Sovereign
Attack speed decreased by 2.2%

High pick rate and win rate.

Hades
Mana regeneration decreased by 4%

High win rate.

Mercenaries

Robo
Attack speed increased by 1.1%

A little nudge to encourage Robos on early waves.

Imp
Attack speed decreased by 2.1%

Currently the best-performing mercenary.

Pack Leader
Damage decreased by 2.7%

Pack Leader is highly versatile and rarely a bad send.

Honey Bear
Damage: 110 → 113

We're happy with Honey Bear's design after the changes in February's Update, but it's slightly underperforming.

Ogre
Attack speed increased by 1.7%

Not bad, but isn't rewarding enough to save for when you can access Brute, Imps, and Mimic for cheaper.

Centaur
Damage: 88 → 90

Overshadowed both by cheaper mercenaries and more expensive mercenaries.

Needler
Damage increased by 1.5%

A small nudge to bring it on par with Witch and Shaman.

Waves

Wave 10: Granddaddy
Attack speed increased by 0.9%

Wave 11: Quill Shooters
Attack speed increased by 0.9%

Wave 12: Mantises
Attack speed decreased by 1.4%

Shifting power from wave 12 to 10 and 11.

Wave 15: Quadrapuses
Attack speed decreased by 1.5%

Wave 16: Cardinals
Health increased by 1%

Shifting power from wave 15 to 16.

Classic
Decreased the frequency of Eggsack, Seedling, and Dwarf Banker being rolled. These units are especially strong in Classic where 95% of games go to waves 21+.

Balance Watchlist
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
  • Castle - Slightly underperforming, but average game length has also been trending up, which indirectly buffs Castle
  • Full eco / "sui" / all-in strategies in the early games - We like that unorthodox strategies are viable, but want to make sure they aren't too common or strong
Improvements

Quest Rerolls
Every week, you now get 3 quest rerolls

Thanks Alexfrog and D2R from Discord.

Optional Classic Ranks
  • You can now toggle on or off visible ranks in Classic
  • This is default off for players currently ranked silver or below in Classic and all new players. Default on for everyone else
We ran a poll on this, and most players want to keep visible classic ranks but there are also a lot of players who want to hide them. We believe this solution is the best way to make both groups happy and make Classic a bit less sweaty.

Minor Improvements
  • Ping Wheel scale slider is now available in Interface settings
  • Legacy Ping Wheel setting is now available
  • Show more than 1 wave ability in the Wave Guide (Thanks to kidk from Discord)
  • Great Boar and Wandering Catapult can now be sold for 90% in Hybrid (Thanks to Early Gas or GG from Discord)
  • Queued mercs and AUTO now show in spectator UI
  • Fixed `Not Even Close` showing up when your king died from a ranged attack
  • Fixed a visual bug with PE after making a purchase
  • Fixed an abuse case with Sea Serpent and Deepcoiler
  • Show teammates gold gained from Bankers, Pixie etc. in the bottom left
  • Added Hybrid gold gain/loss to the bottom left
Game Translations

Legion TD 2's translations continue to be improved, thanks to major contributions from community members! If you'd like to contribute to improving the game's texts further, visit the following link:

{LINK REMOVED}

HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped up to this point!

Closing Remarks

This patch introduces Stash, which we expect will be a pretty high skill cap—and fun—mastermind! We also hope you enjoy using Refractions.

As always, with any major patch, we'll keep a close eye on things and rapidly hotfix as long as needed.

Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.

If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short (hopefully positive ) review for the game! If the game reaches 90% positive, Steam will give it more visibility = more players = more freelo better matchmaking!

If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!

If you have constructive criticism, let's chat about it. Discord and /r/LegionTD2 on reddit are our main channels of communication, and aside from the development team, there are community helpers who can ensure your feedback is heard, as well as answer pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about the game. If you want a guaranteed answer from the devs, the monthly AMAs on /r/LegionTD2 are your best bet.

Sincerely,
The Legion TD 2 Team
Legion TD 2 - Multiplayer Tower Defense - Lisk
It's the first of April, and we're back with another blog post!

One of our toughest jobs as devs is dealing with the "bad apples" of the community. We're talking players who AUTO n chill, players who pick Fiesta, or players whose opinions we simply don't like.

For years, some of you have speculated that we manipulate things like your matchmaking queue times, card drop luck, unit targeting, and how often you run into smurfs. That’s ridiculous. We don’t do that. AI does it for us.

We're proud to showcase our proprietary tech: Data-Oriented Game Enforcer, abbreviated as DOGE.

Principles
1. Get that juicy D (Data)
Every time you play, DOGE collects and analyzes everything. Your build order, your positioning, your roll luck, how quickly you hit “play again” after a win versus a loss—it’s all in the system. Think we don't know you started to type "fk the devs" but then erased it before hitting send? Think again.

2. Snoop around. Privacy is a fallacy.
As powerful as DOGE is, it can't peek into your Steam messages or eavesdrop on your Discord rants. For those, we rely on our eyes and ears in the community. Our dedicated staff sniff out bad actors, many before they even type a single message. Sometimes, just the seeing that "is typing..." flicker on and off before a wall of text is enough to know it's not gonna be good. Give them a mute, knock off a few likeability points, and move on.

3. Calculate LikeabilityScore™ and adjust game accordingly
Our proprietary GPT-4.5-based model runs 24/7, calculating a univariate weighted sum (LikeabilityScore™) that combines all your behavior data points into a number between 0 and 100. Roughly (the model is always evolving), this maps to something like:
  • 100 = You rock. We will name a Campaign boss after you. The odds will always feel in your favor, until you decide to throw.
  • 75-99 = You're a good person. Your game will almost never crash, reconnecting actually fully works properly, and cards will come with regularly.
  • 50-74 = Most players land here. You probably roll Pota+Mask more than you should, but otherwise pretty vanilla
  • 25-49 = You're on our watchlist. 60% of the time, your units will lose focus every time. You will tend to match against smurfs, and good luck finding a card. Your game is also more likely to crash/lag.
  • 0-24 = We won’t even read your bug reports. All above de-optimizations and many more, like a tendency to match with teammates from a country you don't like.
Additionally, if your LikeabilityScore hits 0, you may receive a message prompting you to provide five bullet points on why you should still be allowed to play the game. Failure to respond could result in your game uninstalling itself.

Takeaways
Found yourself in an unfair match? It really has nothing to do with the amount of players in your rating bracket currently queuing. Rather, consider that your LikeabilityScore may have recently nosedived. Reflect upon your recent behavior, and consider being a better person instead of blaming a perfect system.

Got 700+ Pity Points? Wondering why your units just focused the full HP Siege Ram instead of the 10% HP wave? You know the answer now.

Closing Thoughts
DOGE is still learning, adapting, and evolving. By ~summer, we estimate it'll be able to dynamically tweak your connection quality, split aggro consistency, and even how often you match with teammates who will listen to your pings. Hopefully with this post, you now know why the game and its community are just so perfect.

Fellow game devs, we hope to license this tech to external parties starting in Q3. Reach out to learn more.

Congratulations on making it this far. Happy April Fools everyone!
