Legends of Ellaria - Larkon Studio

Hallo Ellarians,

We just uploaded a new version with major overall performance improvement, reduced loading time between map travel, and a better character movement and jumping.

One of our biggest changes was to reduce the impact of having a large number of characters in the same place. We introduced a new system that changes the character resolution dynamically based on their clothing and complexity, and their distance from the camera. This system reduces the character performance issues by 80% and increases the frame rate by as much as 15 extra frames per second.

In addition, we went over thousands of textures and items optimized them. This optimizations increases the game performance by 25%-50%, the required memory by 25%, and the loading time between maps by as much as 30%.

As a result of these changes, you should notice a significant improvement to LoE performance.

Another improvement that we've made is to the character movement and jumping, as well as the camera following the player. These changes makes sure that you will have a more intuitive and smoother movement and jumping, without changing too much of the character stats.

Our next goal is to improve the story line and quests, In the meanwhile, We wish to thank you for your feedback. We will continue to optimize and improve other parts of LoE as much as we can.

Version 1.0.2.4 Changes (7/2/23)
  • Reduced NPC performance cost by 50% near the camera
  • Reduced NPC performance cost by up to 90% when far away from camera
  • Multiple texture and model reduction, by up to 75% of the original size without losing graphics
  • Increased overall graphic performance by up to 50% (depending on the region)
  • Reduced the size of the game and memory (RAM) by 25%
  • Reduced game loading time between regions by up to 30% (depending on the region)
  • Improved character movement and jumping
  • Improved camera following the player in third person

Hallo Elarians,
We wanted to share with you some information about the upcoming quest updates. These updates will balance Legends of Ellaria and add more fun with less grinding. We're also going to change some quests and lore based on your feedbacks.

First, we're considering to remove some of Prisca's quests. This will allow you to progress on the Mage's path much faster. We're also going to add some extra rewards to Prisca's quests.

We're also going to set some of the bandit quests as optional, just in case you'd want to have a quick run to the next chapters. We're also considering to make Free Marketquest as optional , since you can expand your kingdom without using a market.

We're also considering to shorten several main and sub quests. One of them is the Ancient Orb quest, which sends you to 11 different places. We loved the story behind the quest, but some of you complained that its too long to finish. We're considering shortening several of these quests without losing their reward, such as Magical Enquiries and Thinning the herd.

We're also going to make quests more fluent and focused on one goal, so that you'll focus on the story and on progressing your kingdom.

There are lots of other changes, and we're still testing these changes. We've also made progress on the character mechanics, and on the general maintenance. Our next version should include the character mechanics.

Please tell us your opinion and suggestion about quests, quest reward ideas and other things you'd like to change, or if you'd like to add new quests to the game.

In the meanwhile, thank you for your feedback and for your support.

Dear Ellarians.

We wanted to share with you our current progress in improvements and remastering of Legends of Ellaria.

One of our main goals is to allow Legends of Ellaria to lower its system requirement. For that, we're in the process of improving and remastering all of our models and textures. This is a monumental task since Legends of Ellaria have thousands of assets. These improvements will lower the memory requirements and improve the frame rate, but we're also aiming to fix and improve some of these textures.

Based on your feedback, we're also working on the character movement to improve the responsiveness and animations . We noted that the jumping is clunky and that some of the movement and fighting is not fluent. We're going to try to improve the character as much as we can.

In future updates we'll work on changing quests, improving some of our graphics, and many other things that we gathered based on your feedback. In the meanwhile, we're available in our discord channel. We thank you for your support and feedback, please continue to give us more feedback and suggestions.

Dear Ellarians.

We've made new features and important fixes in the last year, and now it's time to focus on old features. We're going to improve and remaster important parts of Legends of Ellaria.

Since we're more than an year after the full release, we're going to be creative and change core game elements, such as the character movement and loading screen. We've read your feedbacks and feel that these elements would be more important for you than adding a new feature.

So, we're going to work on the following things

1: Player Controller
  • Player Movement feeling(speed, animations e.t.c).
  • Player Combat moves and feeling.
2: RPG - Combat
  • Fix Skills/Abilities based on your feedbacks.
  • Rebalance The Skill Tree and bonuses.
3: Loading Screens
  • Remove the loading screens whenever possible.
  • Decrease loading screen times.
  • Make a more immersive loading screen.
4: Performance
  • Improve Framerate.
  • Reduce system requirements.
5: Tutorial:
  • Mara (Chapter 0) will remain as it is, but will be converted to a mission instead of a game tutorial
  • Tutorial will start from Chapter 1, and will help the player to get familiar with the game
6: Missions:
  • Some missions will be rebuilt to improve the game lowness and to work better with a new tutorial.
  • Improve repeating missions and unnecessarily long missions.
7: RTS Combat:
  • Fix AI Behavior.
  • Fix AI response to the player tactics.
8: Graphics:
  • Improve general graphics.
  • Add some missing graphics and effects.
9: UI
  • Adjust the User Interface to be more fluent.
10: Inventory System
  • Improve and balance inventory system.

This is a long list and we can't promise to change all of the above. We also can't tell you how long these changes will take. In the meanwhile, we would appreciate any suggestion as we want to focus on the most important things to change. We're available for any question and suggestion in our discord channel.

Hallo Ellarians,

We've just achieved a new milestone by finishing the new modding system and adding multiple new mods. And as a bonus, we've started a one-week 85% discount!

Based on your feedback and some of our ideas, we've added a few useful and fun mods to Legends of Ellaria. Although these mods are not official and may not be balanced, we sure had a lot of fun playing with them. Here are some of them:

Possess
You can now possess any person in the world, immediately gaining control, inventory and basic skills. You can also possess heroes to gain full combat and skill abilities.

Hardcore Mode
Is the base combat too boring? Try out a more challenging difficulty.

This mod increases all weapons and spells base damage to 200%, both for you and for your enemies. This means that combat is shorter and deadlier and armor is less effective. Because of that you'll have to be more tactical as some creatures may now kill you with a single hit.

Fast Runner
Tired of running from location to location? This mod removes all stamina cost of sprinting and increases your sprint speed, allowing you to explore the map faster.

The Swarm
Your enemies are determined to destroy your kingdom. They will fight you to the last breath.

This mod increases Bandits, Northerners, Dark ones and Zombies invasion time by 500%. This means that your kingdom will be invaded on average every three days or so. In some cases, you'll be attacked by multiple armies at the same time. You will have to defend your towns and outposts while quickly expanding your kingdom and economy if you want to survive.

We've made some other minor mods, and we've also released a new version with some minor bug fixes. Please let us know if you'd like us to add more mods. In the meanwhile, we thank you for your support and feedback.

Hallo Ellarians,

We've just integrated Steam Workshop to Legends of Ellaria. This means that you can now subscribe to mods created by the community or upload your own mods through Legends of Ellaria's modding tools.

To play mods from the Steam Workshop, click the Subscribe button on a mod you would like to try, and then run Legends of Ellaria.

To upload mods that you created, start the Workshop manager utility of Legends of Ellaria's modding tools, you can then click the "Create" or "Update" button for each mod.
Check out our new tutorial about how to publish your mod to Steam Workshop.

We've also uploaded the More Money mod that adds a random amount of money to your kingdom once a day. We will continue to update the Steam Workshop with some new mods in the next few weeks.

In the meanwhile, please write any suggestions about modding. We're available for any question in our discord channel.

Hallo Ellarians,

To celebrate our one year anniversary, we've unlocked the in-game console commands, which will allow you to add money, items, armies, XP, teleport to locations, skip quests, and more.We don't encourage you to use these commands but we figured out that some of you have already played Legends of Ellaria and would like a different experience.

To use the console commands, load / start a game, and then press the ~ button. You can then type in basic console commands such as AddItem('Gold', 1000) and Player_AddExp(1000).

Its been a long year for us, full of adventures. Since the full release, we've added new graphics, features, quests and modding support. For our company's size, we always knew that we're over ambitious, but we've proud of the amount of systems we've added to Legends of Ellaria.

We also want to thank our community and our Beta testers for your support!

But we're not going anywhere, as we're still developing Legends of Ellaria. Our next goal will be to expand the modding support and to add support for the Steam Workshop.

In the meanwhile, please write any suggestions about modding. We're available for any question in our discord channel.

In today's version 1.0.1.18 (01/04/22) we changed the following:
  • Unlocked the console commands
  • Fixed some bugs related to achievements.
Legends of Ellaria - Larkon Studio

Hallo Ellarians,

We've got some good news, the modding support is up and running, and it comes with a brand new modding tool.

The modding tool comes as a Unity Project with configurable interfaces and scripts that you can run during the game. We've also included documentation and an example mod that comes with the modding tool. In addition, we will support the modding tool through our discord channel and answer any questions you may have.

The modding works by connecting a manager script to Legends of Ellaria's. This manager script has simple methods such as OnIngameDayPassed(), OnSaveGame().

We currently support graphic add-ons and in-game logics. However, there are so many ways to connect to Legends of Ellaria's code that we will expand the modding tool functionality over time based on your suggestions.

Please write any suggestions about modding. We're available for any question in our discord channel.

In today's version 1.0.1.17 (18/03/22) we changed the following:
  • Added modding support
  • Added undead logics and graphics for modding support.
  • Added a message "Achievements are disabled" when installing mods or using console commands.
  • Fixed some bugs
Legends of Ellaria - Larkon Studio

Hallo Ellarians,

We've got some good news for you. After multiple changes and tests, we're getting close to adding modding support to Legends of Ellaria! Modding support means that anyone with the proper skills will be able to make significant game changes and publish them on the Steam Workshop.

Once we expose Legends of Ellaria's game engine and mechanics, You'll be able to control most of the game's logic and also be able to add new graphics. The modding support will be available and accessible for free to anyone with knowledge of making assets and scripts through Unity and C# language.

In addition to the modding support, we will publish a modding tool project and documentation. We're also going to create a new Discord server for anyone with questions and suggestions about modding LoE.

Also, we're going to include some of the Necromancer pack graphics and logics, for anyone who wants to make mods related to the undead. We're not done with the Necromancer DLC yet, but we feel that our community would benefit more if we focus on the modding support and allow anyone to make their own expansions and mods.

We're expecting the Modding Support to be ready in the following weeks. In the meanwhile, please continue to play and send us any suggestions and feedback. We thank you for your support.
