Giant Space Monster is no more, and we're no longer able to maintain and update the Immortal Darkness game on Steam. After 4 great years, it is time to retire the game and move on.

What does this mean to you, as a player?

Very little, if you've already purchased the game. You will still be able to access and play the game from your Steam library, and all your local game data will be safe. Your achievements will remain, but you won't be able to earn new ones. Sorry about that. If you don't own the game, or have it on your wishlist, it will no longer be for sale or accessible to you on Steam.

We really appreciate you buying and playing our game, and supporting independent game development. We owe everything to players like you!

    • Smart aim assist for game controller play picks targets intuitively when using projectile spells.

• Addressed several instances where enemy state was not being saved properly, allowing previously killed enemies to respawn.

That's why we've added two brand new magical items that players can find in the depths of Mordim: the Campfire and the Rod of Hallowing. Bask in their warm glow to restore your health or let go of some of that pent up evil in your veins.

On November 25th, we pushed a hotfix with the following:

• Fixed a bug where the Shopkeeper becomes unresponsive in some situations.
  
• Fixed a bug where tip UI could persist through game over and title page.
  
• Fixed a bug where certain HUD UI elements could stay visible and interactive when entering a new game.
  
• Fixed a bug where enemies sometimes wouldn't aggro when damaged by player spell effects.
  
• Fixed map bug on The Vampire Stronghold level that prevented players from backtracking to complete the captive rescue quest.
  
  • Games already affected by this bug won't be able to backtrack. Our team is looking into potential fixes for this.
• Fixed a typo on cinematic intro

• Fixed a bug that caused the Chaos Orb to carry over from saved games to new games in certain circumstances.
  
• Fixed a bug that prevented 2 faction notes from being available in game. These notes can now be found on levels 4 and 5.
  
• Fixed a UI problem that caused some longer signatures on journal entries to be cut off.

The Giant Space Monster team started development on Immortal Darkness: Curse of the Pale King nearly three years ago, so last week’s launch was a dream come true. Thank you to everyone who has joined us on this journey into the depths of Mordim. Your feedback has been invaluable -- please keep it coming!

Today marks the release of our first update, which includes several bug fixes and the ability to customize keybinding and controls. Please see the full patch notes below for details and join the discussion here.

New Features:

• Keybinding and control customization
  
  • You can now customize keyboard controls by using the "Controls / Key Bindings" option available on the main options UI

Improvements:

• Rebalanced the “Vault of Darkness” level
  
  • Torch item duration has been lengthened
    
  • Puzzle element was slightly adjusted for smoother play
• Added additional Save Altars before boss encounters, to the "Plane of Chaos" level

  • Fixed a bug that caused too many healing sparks to spawn during the Xehg'thuel boss fight

  • Fixed a bug where the player could interact with a shopkeeper during combat, causing the shop UI to pop up and interfere with combat
    
  • Fixed a bug with the Drael boss fight which caused the end-of-fight dialog to be bypassed in some situations

  • Fixed an audio bug on the "Plane of Chaos" level where music and ambient sounds were not being updated in some situations
