GearStorm release 1.620 is out! This release improves the readability of the cockpit displays in all the vehicles, fixes for the pickpocket ability and fixes for players locking themselves out of chests/doors.

A new version of GearStorm (v. 1.619) just released that adds integration with Discord to alert you when a player joins your server or when your server starts up. Just add a Discord Webhook to the channel you would like to use for server alerts and put the webhook URL in the "DiscordAlertWebhook=" parameter of the "game.ini" file.



You will then see a alert in your channel anytime anyone joins your server or your server starts up.



We have also included several fixes for looting corpses on a base core, harvesting cacti by hand, and inventory messaging when a item is lost.

There are several fixes for quest issues in this release, including AI behavior, text on certain quests, and the ability to finish certain quests.

Hotfix incoming for issue with the list of Gamemasters being reset after activating the Gamemaster menu. This release also includes a fix for AI spawning too close to the player and adds a setting in the .ini to change the radius AI spawn.

Hotfix incoming for a customer-reported issue with the graphics options UI scale setting not persisting if you change it and close the dialog or restart the game. The UI scaling option should now persist when closing and opening the graphics options or restarting the game.

We are rolling out a small update adding automated system testing and graphics settings to make our first time player experience better and help people tune the game. We also included a very frequently requested feature to change the percentage of the day that is night and persist that setting and the day length setting!

Automatic Graphics Settings When First Starting the Game:
To avoid issues when first starting GearStorm, we now have a auto-system benchmark running that automatically adjust the initial graphics settings for your system. For those of you that already own the game, your graphics settings may change only the first time you run it after this benchmark. Feel free to go into the options->graphics settings and set things like you want them again and they will persist.

Automatic Graphics Settings Button:
We have added the automatic system bench-marking tool to the graphics settings dialog so you can benchmark your system and get suggested graphics settings anytime you want.


Night Percentage Setting:
Responding to our community request to add the ability for the server admin to change the percentage of the 24-hour day of the map that is night we have added a setting to the "Game Settings" screen under the GameMaster menu (backspace by default). This and the other game settings on this screen now persist for all your maps on that server.

We have taken advantage of the last release to the new version of the Unreal Engine for some major performance and stability improvements. We are seeing at least 5-10 fps performance improvements over the last release. Some stability and crash issues relating to losing contact with 3D cards have also been addressed. We also have released our new Gamemaster administration tool so you can add or remove Gamemasters from your server from in-game!

Gamemaster Administration Tool:
We are continuing to simplify your ability to run your own server and make a unique experience for all of your players. This week, we are adding the Gamemaster administration tool that allows you to make someone a Gamemaster in game by picking their name from a list of players currently logged into your server, or simply typing their Steam ID in the text field and adding them. You can remove players the same way. Adding a Gamemaster takes effect instantly and is saved in real-time as you do it.

This release brings GearStorm up-to-date with the latest Unreal Engine, gaining performance and stability improvements and enabling GearStorm to take advantage of newer features in the future like ray tracing. We are also packing in several improvements on our UI, additional weapons, and several bug fixes. This release also marks the beginning of our partnership with 4NETPlayers, our exclusive hosts of dedicated servers for GearStorm.

Simplified Server Hosting:
ICG has partnered exclusively with 4NETPlayers server hosting service to make it easy and inexpensive to host your own GearStorm servers. 4NETPlayers has simplified the server configuration and startup to just a few clicks. Since GearStorm has so many features catering to the server admin, we are very excited to make it easy for our admins to Gamemaster their own dedicated servers in Europe and the US.



New versions of the arm blade were also added:
We have added two new melee weapons with fire and electric effects.




A new option to set VSync was also added:


New "skillpoint indicator" was added to the inventory menu for our skillpoint progression system:
