There was significant interest in re-voting for releasing Episode 3: Decay (part 1/2) alone.

It seems like many asking for a re-vote felt they didn't have enough information previously. This time I've done my best to really hammer home everything relevant.


Information Recap

Episode 3: Decay (part 1/2) is complete. It ends on a cliffhanger for Episode 4: Decay (part 2/2) which is not complete.

Episode 3: Decay (part 1/2)'s quality will neither improve nor decrease regardless of it being released alone or with Episode 4: Decay (part 2/2).

It cannot be rushed as it is already complete.
It won't become better as it is already complete.

E3: Decay (part 1/2):
  • Is complete.
  • Is roughly 6 hours long.
  • Has 1 ending.
  • Has 1 cliffhanger (Before episode 4).
  • Has 4 dead-ends / fail states.
E4: Decay (part 2/2):
  • Is fully written.
  • Is in development.
  • Will be in development for a very long time.
E3: Burial:
  • Is fully written.
  • Development has NOT started.
  • Does NOT connect to, nor share any content with Decay.

The Cliffhanger

Neither Episode 1 nor 2 ended on a cliffhanger.

While the overarching narrative remains unfinished, both episodes successfully concluded the part of the story they set out to tell.

This is not the case with Episode 3: Decay (part 1/2) which cuts off abruptly.

It is possible to play the game from start to finish if you go for a specific ending. Otherwise the story builds up and cuts off without a satisfying conclusion. All the pay off is in episode 4, which is still in development.


Development Time

I can't give an accurate estimate for how long Episode 4: Decay (part 2/2) is going to take. Adapting the story to game form isn't easily measured, and I'd rather not set myself up to fail by randomly guessing at it.

Information that takes a couple lines of exposition to convey in writing, might take 2 minutes in-game, or it might take 20 minutes. This depends entirely on whether the game info dumps at you, or lets you roam around experiencing things for yourself. Latter means more gameplay, backgrounds, CGs, items, events, available actions, etc... basically more everything, and much more work.

All I know is that it's going to be a while. It could easily be another year.


"Author's Wishes" and Addressing Common Concerns

It has come to light that some players had voted based on what they mistakenly believed I wanted.

The only thing I wanted was to know if people would take issue with a cliffhanger.

I had some hesitation about releasing the episode knowing how much people hate cliffhangers. Other than that, I do not have any strong feelings about it one way or the other, as it doesn't affect me. I'm not the one playing it. You are.

The vote was, and still is, only about whether you can handle what might likely be an unsatisfying cliffhanger until episode 4 releases and finishes the story.

I've made a point to be less hyperbolic this time around, as it seems to confuse rather than amuse.

Hello and thanks for stopping in! Sky Link is a flight simulator first, and a combat experience second. It's an exciting game that's no bodies, and no blood. Lots of explosions though! February has been a blizzard of activity here at Odisi. We've got a couple of new developers on the team and we're ready to take this game to a whole new level.


[NEW MAPS]
As promised, there are big ideas in maps coming this year. This week in our internal test we played in a really large map, and it was awesome. There is a ton of potential and this one is going to be big.



[MISSILES]
Missiles have been really a focus this month. Setting up new pathing and allowing for a quick dodge that isn't super easy to do was the goal, and it's looking really good so far. In playtesting I'm able to dodge a good share of missiles when I have time to respond. Really great to have an option besides tactical abilities in missile avoidance. Now when you skill up you'll be unstoppable!



[FLAIRS]
Flairs are missile avoidance tactical ability number 1. When you hear a missile coming you can fire a flair to redirect the missile from yourself to the flair. This month a heatmap has been added to missiles and drones and the flairs are really something to see in the game.



[FIXES]
The one visible fix that everyone will notice in February is the scorecard overlap issue. There's been an issue as you load into the match, the timer would display a set of overlapping numbers. This has been worked on and a fix has been put in. The scoreboard's timer will now show properly as the game loads into the match.

Many other fixes have gone in to have a more stable game, like an issue in Deathmatch that caused issues figuring out the winning team. We've seen this one in playtesting and I'm excited to say it won't happen again.



PLAYTESTS

During our Friday event we do beta testing; checking balance in game while learning to master the finer mechanics of flight. Sky Link: Freefire is difficult to master, though truly easy to pick up and just play.

A small weekend update addressing issues with the procedural trick system and dropping some new, time limited skins!

Here are the things that are new in SNØ 1.0.00.87

Changes:
  • 👕 New, time limited collection of skin patterns and colors - active from now through March 9th 2025 (UTC)*
Fixes:
  • 🪂 Deploying glider now correctly resolves the trick score. Deploying glider too soon after trick will still negate the score.
  • 🤹 Removed a bug where the tricks could sometimes get stuck and keep scoring points as long as glider was deployed
  • 🖥️ Photo mode UI now scales correctly on super ultrawide screens

So, what's the deal with this sudden appearance of time limited skins, I hear you ask? The short version is that Trondheim - our home town - is hosting a big international skiing event right now., and everyone is hyped! We thought it'd be fun to join the festivities with by making some skin patterns for SNØ inspired by Trondheim and the ongoing event (this is not a sponsorship thing btw, we're just caught by the hype 😅)

The Holy Roman Empire
First of all, some problems in the imperial mechanism have been fixed,
and the Imperial Prestige has been implemented.

The mechanism for changing the Imperial Prestige has been added.


The Emperor can reform the empire through the Imperial Prestige and issue some imperial decrees. These amendments only take effect for the member lords within the empire.
Imperial Prestige
The Imperial Prestige increases by 1 every quarter.
During the period of the Great Interregnum, the Imperial Prestige decreases by 1 every quarter.
For every 20 points of Imperial Prestige, the Emperor's personal prestige and influence increase by 1 every quarter.

Other ways to obtain Imperial Prestige
Increase:
Each fief acquired by an imperial member adds 2 points.
When a lord who is not an imperial member becomes a vassal of the Emperor, it adds 2 points.
Each additional imperial member adds 4 points.
Successfully helping a member resist foreign invasion adds 3 points.

Decrease:
Removing an imperial member deducts 5 points.
For each imperial member that disappears, 5 points are deducted.
As the Emperor, invading an imperial member deducts 2 points.
Refusing to help a member resist an invasion deducts 2 points.
For each lost territory of the empire, 2 points are deducted.
An imperial reform deducts 40 points.
Issuing an imperial decree deducts 20 points.
If you are the Emperor of the empire, then when an imperial member is invaded by a non-member state, the members will send a letter of rescue to the Emperor. As for whether to rescue or not, it depends on the Emperor's decision.



If you are an imperial member and are invaded by a non-member state, you can also request the Emperor to send troops to support you. As for what conditions to exchange for it, it depends on you.


In addition, after the imperial covenant is reformed, the Emperor can invite imperial members to join in external wars. Conversely, if the Emperor invades an imperial member, it will cost Imperial Prestige, and other members cannot be invited to join the war.
The empire now holds an imperial conference every five years to discuss future development plans.

During the conference, AI lords or players can make some accusations.

Then the conference will vote to count the accusations.
During this period, you can interact with each member to gain their support at the conference. As for what conditions to exchange for it, it's up to you to decide.
In the final stage of the conference, an election for the empire's heir will be held. Through a voting method, it will be decided who will be the new Emperor in the next five years if the Emperor dies, until the next imperial conference is held.
If there is no heir during this period and the Emperor dies, then there will be a Great Interregnum!

Culture
The accumulation of culture points will affect all lords of the same culture.

And it may also trigger some events.



War Objectives

Now wars are divided into four war modes: plundering, invasion and conquest, diplomatic covenant, and vassalage.

Plundering: As the war mode with the shortest cycle, it can quickly seize the population and gold coins, and the loss of soldiers will also be relatively small.
Forcing the signing of a diplomatic covenant: Forcing an independent lord to sign a diplomatic covenant with me, which requires providing me with military service and taxes.
Forcing to become a vassal: Forcing an independent lord to become my vassal.
Invasion: Acquiring the opponent's territory, and it is also the war mode with the highest mortality rate.
During the war, it is also possible to end the war early through interaction. When the opponent's military power is weakened, conducting interaction and negotiation may also be a better choice to end the war early.
