Fractured Lands - Popcicle
Hello all,

Unfortunately in the next few hours Fractured Lands will be removed from any new purchases on Steam for the time being. For those who have previously purchased Fractured Lands, you will continue to be able to play the game. We will update players if any new developments are made to both re-adding the listing or updating the game with new opportunities to play.

Thank you for your support of our efforts here.

Lastly, look forward to the return of Dev Play Days at its regular schedule next week and a few promotions involving STORMRIDERS, special guests, and fun events!

Heavens’ on fire, needle’s in the red, flames getting higher, goin’ over the edge!

Aside from some Dev Play Days (Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 PM PT) and a Community Play Day on the Weekend (Saturdays 5 PM PT), we continue to be heads down on getting through our 1.0 Roadmap, the latest of which is an update in the form of a new map area–Slaughter Land!

https://youtu.be/gy4toA2Ness
Before the fall of the world, there was an infamous amusement park in Coronado called “Laughter Land.” Far from a corporate amusement park, this was a cheap roadside attraction meant to lure in interstate travelers en route through the Pacific Southwest with the colorful image of Chuckles the Clown and his catchphrase “You should smile more!”

Like the ghost towns and tacky museums that dotted the highways, Laughter Land enjoyed a short period of prosperity. But its troubles were evident almost from the start. Never up to the safety standards of more prominent theme parks, lawsuits from injuries and accidental deaths lead to its premature closure and darkened its legacy. In its remote location, it was abandoned and all but forgotten.

Long after the Cataclysm fractured the Pacific Southwest, Laughter Lands remained mostly untouched, waiting for the world to catch up to its state of disrepair. Eventually, it was discovered and inhabited by a community of survivors, taking shelter from the roaming bandit tribes that plagued the lands. These settlers fortified it as best as they could and even revived some of the park’s more charming features. But eventually the lights and sounds drew the attention of a tribe of raiders, and the settlers were all but wiped out in the ensuing attack.

Legends say a single survivor, driven mad by the slaughter of his settlement, took on the mantle of Chuckles the Clown. They say the insane clown changed the signage to “Slaughter Land,” set traps throughout the park, and murdered any trespassers who dared explore the park’s haunting ruins.

Nobody knows if these stories are true or how long ago they happened, but the horrifying evidence of Chuckles the Clown can be seen in the park to this day. So come visit Slaughter Lands if you dare, and remember: you should smile more.

Slaughter Land arrives in a new update to Fractured Lands later this month and is available in both the SOLO and TRIBE BATTLE ROYALE modes!

We also have a host of other environment changes and adjustments planned for our BR map and other things in the works for this newest update. Beyond that we continue to put work into our upcoming Sandbox mode and Phase 2 changes. Likewise, closer to when this update goes live we’ll share with you details on our progress with the Journey to 1.0 Roadmap and more news for Fractured Lands!

Again thank you for sticking with us, and we hope you enjoy this latest adventure into the wasteland!

You Should Smile More

With Shangri-La Deathmatch live, we are now focused on our next Phase 1 work, and of course, continued work on our Phase 2 launch of Fractured Lands 1.0! In the meantime, of course, we’ll be addressing regular bugs and issues we’ve run into.

Today we’ll be dropping a new hotfix to address some recent bugs!

  • Adjusted the shotgun muzzle attachments to make them more distinct from one another:
    • Precision Muzzle: A muzzle attachment that increases range and gives you a major increase in accuracy.
    • Surgical Muzzle: A muzzle attachment that tightens shotgun spread, slightly increasing accuracy.

Bug Fixes:

  • Addressed an issue where audio didn’t properly sync with reload animations of the Bobcat AR
  • Addressed an issue that occurred while alt-tabbing in fullscreen mode, the client no longer changes to a background process
  • Addressed an issue where players sometimes spawned in front or behind other players in Deathmatch mode
  • Addressed an issue where the Deathmatch scoreboard sometimes didn’t update values

That’s it for today, just a little change I know, but we’re already testing some new content and hope to get it to you soon. Enjoy the weekend and we’ll catch ya next time in our Dev Play Days where hopefully we can share some new info on Fractured Lands 1.0!

We have a brand new update here in the midst of Season 2, that coincides with our Journey to 1.0 Roadmap Phase 1 plans. As you might remember, we first showed off our development Roadmap at the tail end of last year, beginning with Phase 1:

A major part of that Phase is a relief to our players who want to jump into smaller, faster matches right away. To that effort, we’re launching SHANGRI-LA DEATHMATCH, a 12 max player free-for-all set in a smaller portion of the larger Battle Royale Wasteland–LIVE NOW!

Deathmatch has a two-player minimum, so even on lighter queues you’ll be able to get into a match, clash in the wasteland and earn some Season 2 EXP. We’ve been having fun with Deathmatch in testing and iteration for the last month or so, and we hope you enjoy it!

We’re continuing work on the larger 1.0 Roadmap, with lots of progress on our Sandbox mode to show for it; we’ll share more info on this soon! In the meantime, we’ll also be developing more content for Phase 1, and test and launch it with your community feedback.

For today’s Deathmatch release, we’ve made significant changes to the larger game, including a variety of alterations to the main Battle Royale map, UI adjustments, quality of life changes, and a brand new weapon, the Bobcat AR!

Fractured Lands - Popcicle
The last couple weeks we’ve been testing and refining our SHANGRI-LA DEATHMATCH but what we didn’t tell you, is that a new weapon is also ready to launch with our new mode! Our external testers had some hands-on time with it, but now it’s your turn to check out our new AR: the BOBCAT!

The Bobcat AR features a 3 round burst of fire for high damage! It’s armed with lightweight ammo at high capacity and uses a light-up magazine indicator that glows green when full and red when empty. Similar to the Wildhog LMG, the Bobcat compensates for its high damage output with a longer reload time necessary to fill up that high capacity magazine.

A built-in stock and grip keeps the Bobcat steady when firing and brings spread down to a minimum, but it can also be modified with similar muzzle & magazine attachments to the Straug AR. Unlike the Straug however, it allows for different attachable scopes, up to and including the Hawk’s Eye or 4x Scope.

The Bobcat is available in both SHANGRI-LA DEATHMATCH and our two Battle Royale modes; grab one in your next match and cut your teeth in the wasteland!

DEATHMATCH and the Bobcat arrive Tuesday, February 5th, along with a host of additional changes throughout the game and environment!

Fractured Lands - Popcicle
As promised in this morning’s Dev Play Days Stream, we have some pretty important news to share:

Debuting soon as the first addition to our 1.0 development, for Phase 1 is: Shangri-La Deathmatch!

Similar to the classic Deathmatch mode found in shooters through the years, players spawn and respawn around a particular map, this time found in the Shangri-La Trailer Park. The Park is surrounded in a massive storm acting as a near instant death barrier to funnel the action.

Players come in equally with a loaded G’Luck, Lvl 1 Chest Piece, and some healing items. Scattered around the map are additional weapons (pre-loaded), ammo, modifications to those weapons, additional healing items, munitions, and armor upgrades.

Details and features in the new mode might shift with development as we begin some new testing and take in your feedback. We appreciate this chance to preview new content with players in Early Access as we work hard towards 1.0!

With the associated patch that releases Deathmatch in the core game, we plan on detailing the fine changes that will go into Fractured Lands surrounding this mode. There also might be some additional updates that affect both this and the Battle Royale & Tribe Battle Royale modes as well.

While we’re giving additional attention to this new mode nearing release, of course, we will continue to fully support our Battle Royale modes and continue our Dev Play Day schedules for opportunities to play both with the community.

More work from 1.0 is coming from Phase 1, and soon Phase 2 information will drop as well! Thanks again for your patience and support during Early Access, we hope you will enjoy Shangri-La Deathmatch in the wasteland!

I expect a tough, clean fight. Obey my command at all times. Any questions?
Robert
Fractured Lands - Popcicle
Last night we had the great pleasure of joining fellow wastelanders at the Scum and Villainy Cantina in downtown Los Angeles hosted by High Voltage Magazine for Fractured Lands matches, giveaways, and great chats about our mutual passion in all things post-apocalyptic!

We wanted to take this moment to thank those who were able to attend or play with us into the late hours–we were there till about 2AM! This activity and our PDXLan attendance were awesome to do, and we’d love to do more activities like this in the future, so let us know if you have a favorite local event, and we’ll look into if we can make it out there!

Now fully staffed and back at work again after the Holiday Break, we’re finishing up our current development sprint on some 1.0 content, testing new material and putting things together to share with everyone soon! We’re also hoping to have some more testing opportunities for our external groups, and of course, will continue our Dev Play Days Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm PT. We’d like to also host another EU primetime Dev Play Day, so if you’re itching to get back into Fractured Lands but you’re better found in the early morning hours here on the Pacific, let us know and we’ll set something up!

Keep an eye on our social and join us in Discord in this New Year 2019, there’s still much to do!

You will never find a more wretched hive…we must be cautious

Fractured Lands - Popcicle
Hello all!

Our patch previously scheduled for tomorrow looks to be in a good place today so we are looking to drop it a little early! That said, aside from some backend bug fixes and a couple of very minor optimizations it's MOSTLY a delivery system for our new holiday vanity, the Holiday Sweater!

We have keys to reward our stalwart followers, so please simply message "Popcicle" with the phrase "BAHHUMBUG" via our official Discord (discord.gg/fracturedlands) from today (12/19) to Friday (12/21) and I'll reply in kind with your own Holiday Sweater key! It can be redeemed in-game immediately and the vanity top will be in your inventory after you download and update the game's latest patch.

Also! If you haven't picked up Fractured Lands yet, or know a special someone you can gift it to, it is on sale via Green Man Gaming for 30% off along with a free code for the Holiday Sweater vanity, so you and a loved one can celebrate the season by running each other over in holiday cheer!

FINALLY: We'll be running DOUBLE XP on Christmas Day through to the New Year! (12/25/2018 - 1/1/2019) What a great way to ring in the new year, by firing several makeshift bullets at it!

Hope you enjoy the holiday vanity and get some matches in on these last few days of 2018!

Thanks for your awesome support this year and we'll see you in 2019 with some amazing new content leading up to 1.0!

Better watch out, better not cry!
Robert
