Spike Chunsoft have announced Killer7 director Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51) will be returning to an old haunt to pen new story DLC for wrestleman sim Fire Pro Wrestling World. I’m not normally much for wrestling games, but even I can appreciate this series, formerly by Human Entertainment. Snappy action, powerful character creation and a history of surprisingly heavy story modes. I’m expecting great, possibly unsettling things from new DLC ‘The Vanishing’, after the utterly bleak ending of Fire Pro Wrestling Special for the SNES, which I WILL SPOIL BELOW.

After five months of scrapping through early access, Fire Pro Wrestling World has launched in full. If you’re looking for a game to transpose the traditional Christmas dinner arguments into a friendlier arena, boy howdy Fire Pro is certainly a game that’ll let you recreate the nuances of your family’s verbal fighting style with wrestling personas. At the very least, it’ll make them all turn their ire on you; what a selfless act of yuletide martyrdom that would be. (more…)

It’s no secret that one favourite activity in the RPS treehouse is chokeslamming and powerbombing each other. I’m delighted, then, to see Spike Chunsoft announce a revival of the long-running Fire Pro Wrestling series – and this time on PC too. I’ve not played its console iterations but I have heard good things about proper, serious wrestling simulation and welcome more of that. Wrestling on PC is dominated by 2K’s so-so WWE games so, even if the new Fire Pro Wrestling World [official site] is unattractive (and it is!), it’d be nice to have a serious competitor for the belt. … [visit site to read more]
