Fazbear Nightmare - MsVelsina
Why make this post
You know the most frequent question I get on steam is "Why are you like this" followed closely by "Is Fazbear coming out". I don't think I'll ever have an answer for the first but for the second my running answer has always been "Fazbear is out! kinda Valve rejected the build because of a couple small issues BUT its on Gamejolt" and that's been the running answer. but that's not the answer I've wanted to give. I stopped active development on this project a while back. The whole thing just became too expensive and stressful and I ended up releasing something that I thought was cool but not something I could truly say I'm proud of. Midnight Investigator was a consolation of a consolation, anyone who followed my dev work long enough and got in the early alphas would know Fazbear was supposed to be something so vastly different from what MI had become. It was a survival horror title with a slowly opening map and puzzles to progress and uncover a story or revenge and loss but due to so many limitations and personal struggles it got simplified to the point of here's FNAF but you can walk now.

And that is where I left it.
For years.
I’ve seen so many people use the tools I’ve made as an asset dev to make their own game and their own FNAF games even.
But I never finished my passion project.
I left it to be a shadow if what it was supposed to be

Well now things are different
I'm rejuvenated
I went back to school
Got a degree
Worked with more companies
Had Epic games look at my work and have them say yeah we'll pitch some cash to you (Horror Engine REloaded my project to create dev tools was funded by Epic mega grants)

And now I'm making Fazbear Nightmare
(Subtitled Final Nightmare)

Here and small FAQ that I've posted on my discord

Fazbear "Final" Nightmare FAQ
When will it be released?
No date to announce at this time.

How far along is development
As of the time of this post the main game is fully pathed. The game only has placeholder art at this time. we will release a trailer and teasers when we have a final look and VAs lined up

Will it be on Gamejolt?
There currently is no plan to release the game on Gamejolt at this time. The game will be released on Steam under the Fazbear Nightmare name.

What will happen to Midnight Investigator?
It will be removed from the closed build on steam but will remain live on Gamejolt.

Will it be free?
It requires you to own Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 on steam but is free.

How do you make money if it’s a free release?
The project is not for profit but for the experience of making a project that re-imagines a franchise that is close to me. I have a patreon that funds all my works games and assets and that is my main development income source.

What is the gameplay like?
The game will be a third person survival horror game. The player will take the role of a midnight investigator travelling to a small town to look for a group of missing young adults. She will talk to locals and explore locations.

How long is the gamestory?
I can't at this time give a full estimate due to still working out puzzles/fight balance and side content but the target game length is about 6-8 hours on a first playthrough and the game will need a minimum of 2 playthroughs to see all the content. (again this is the target and subject to change)

What do you mean the game is aimed at a mature audience?
The game is aimed at an older audience. I know there are fans of FNAF who are younger and I think there are plenty of projects that are aimed more towards them, this project just isn’t that and deals with subjects and materials that may not be suitable for player under the age of 18.

What cannon does this game follow
This game doesn't follow any preexisting canon. The story is inspired by the events and world of FNAF 1-4 only and may have Easter eggs from SL onward but doesn't follow any of the narratives from the games, books or movie. Any names similar to preexisting characters are most likely coincidental.

What engine is the game built on
Unreal engine 5

Can I beta test
No, we will put out announcements if we do a semi-open test in the future

I was recently given my surgery date and it's less than 60 days away and I really need to try and get funding to help cover expenses related to the surgery such as travel and medication costs.

I've made a new dedicated Ko-fi to help raise some cash to cover those costs.
It would mean to world to me if you could check it out, share it and if possible drop a donation.

Thank you so much for your continued support and I hope to have new content and updates released as soon as possible

[Link Removed Fundraiser Ended]

Also the final update is still coming.
I've just spent the past year working on the engine which has been making loads of progress and has already had other games released using it here on steam and on other consoles like the switch.

I want this project to be an awesome showcase of the engine potential and will hopefully have the new patch ready in the next few months.

I've had to drop VR support due to to many bugs but there is potential for a MP component to be added in the future due to the request of this feature for the engine itself by other devs

Edit Update:
Update for full transparency I am no longer taking any donations on the medical expense kofi because I'm not longer raising money for the surgery (I am now in recovery and closed down the accept payment)

If you want to still support me an my work you can check out my main page https://ko-fi.com/velsinaproductions but because any future donations would go towards bills and cost of living I felt it would be wrong to keep accepting them on the medical expense page

Thank you all again for your wonderful support and I cant wait to get back to work full time!!

Dear fans and followers,

Today, I come bearing unfortunate news. As of the next update, development of Fazbear Nightmare will be discontinued. There are several factors that influence this decision, the most prevalent of which are listed below.

FINANCIAL INVESTMENT
As many of you are already aware, FNAF is a trademarked franchise, meaning that any and all fan-made projects cannot be sold for monetary gain. As many of you can imagine, this on it’s own proved to be a roadblock in whether this project was viable for full-time dedication. As difficult as it may be for some to accept, this is my livelihood and without income it becomes increasingly difficult to afford the necessities of day-to-day life.

As for donations, I would like to state that funding has not gone to waste. It has always been the intention of this studio to utilize contributions for the betterment of Velsina Productions as a whole, and therefore you can expect to see your assistance in future endeavours.

THE DEVELOPMENT STAFF
When Fazbear Nightmare first entered development, the studio had several, reliable friends working together on their college downtime. It was a group effort that everyone had a part in contributing towards. In the beginning, the general concept of the game was something along the lines of “What if Five Nights at Freddy’s was in 3D?” A simple concept, to be sure. As the years went on, the scope of this project increased to include an in-depth story, multi-chapter releases and much, much more. As was mentioned above, non-profit investment became more difficult to accept and thus, some of us were forced to find work outside of Velsina Productions. At this time, only a select few of us were able to continue development of Fazbear Nightmare, making the workload we once dreamed of being possible a far distant objective.

ME, VELSINA
I would like to start by thanking each and everyone one of our now 1,000+ member strong community. I never dreamed of having such passion and dedication come from our fans and I am deeply touched by some of your comments, encouragement and passion towards our work. However, given everything that has already been mentioned, it’s been rough keeping positive about the way things have been going. As I expanded my horizons to include other, profitable projects, I found enjoyment from writing my own stories, creating my own environments, and making projects that were truly and wholly “mine”. The drive that I once had to complete Fazbear Nightmare has slowly diminished and -at the time of writing this post- has vanished. As unfortunate as it may be to hear, I have also received a lot of negative press from several followers. Some going as far as to threaten myself or others.

TL; DR
As passionate as I once was about Fazbear Nightmare, many things have brought me to the conclusion that things cannot keep going the way they have been, and I can only hope that many of you that have followed me this far will continue to support my future endeavours ( one of which has recently been teased through our Discord ). Thank you, again, for everything this community as a whole has done for me. You are the reason why I have decided to continue development; and with enough support and dedication, I believe we can make Velsina Productions something great.

Sincerely,
Claire Murray
CEO and Founder of Velsina Productions

Midnight VR is in active development alongside Alpha 7.
I've been working on a toolkit (based on the "VRE" Unreal Plugin) to more easily make everything work in Roomscale and hopefully Co-op (will be something special ;) )!!

I'm currently working on fully rebuilding the current Midnight investigator free roam version of FNAF 1 and when MI2 releases with Alpha 7 ill be working to add it to the VR mode aswell

Here are some early WIP images of the VR mode.

EDIT: Added more images

Unfortunately I need to delay the game release again.

This project is something I can't afford to work on full time and sometimes need to take extended breaks while I focus on paid work and life.

I try my hardest to maintain a steady release schedule and for the past few weeks I had planned on working mostly fulltime on the game but due to complications with life and my hardware I wasn't able to work on the project nearly enough to get it to the point I was aiming for the release.

I don't have a definite time for the new release because over the next couple weeks I need to focus on other work but the current build is at about 70% completion with most of the environments and mechanics (aside from FNaF 4) done and working just needed to focus on adding props and implementing the objectives.

I hope to have good news soon enough and will be focusing on getting that last 30% done in my free time but with everything that's been happening in my personal life and upcoming work I really can’t give a definite time frame.

If you haven't seen or played it already the Alpha 6 Demo of the FNaF 1 Story is avalible on gamejolt: https://gamejolt.com/games/FBN_Midnight/407220

or can be added on steam with the following keys
Please comment when you take a key or a key you tried was already used with something like ("HJ37- was used ")

Here's a bit of an update on the next... update

As some of you may know the original plan for Alpha 7 was just to add foxy and offer a few quality of life improvements since this original plan the scope and scale has massively increased. I've started working on 4 more of the games campaigns and several challenge mode minigames

To prevent the game from being delayed any further and get feedback I've decided to focus on a "Demo Build"

This build should contain:
- The FNaF 1 Midnight Investigator campaign
- The "Fredbears Diner" Tutorial
- The first 2 "Hours" of the FNaF 2 and 3 Campaigns
- The first section of FNaF 4
- Multiple challenge modes
- Steam Achievements
- More

This build will be an alpha contain a lot of placeholders and concepts.

The current release plan barring major interruptions is:

August 8th for testers, influencers and patrons
Note that due to unexpected hardware issues and persistent bugs the Test build is being delayed a few more days.
The general public build is still on track for Aug 20th

August 20th for general public on steam and gamejolt

There will also be another key giveaway on the 8th which will give access to the demo build
