Hi there loners,

It is empty in space isn't it? However strange, I've heard some of you guys like it so much that some of the community suggested to make a Void map. That is why I've started the development of the experimental map in which nearly no objects present to flamboyantly crash your ship in (basically for noobs ːsteammockingː).

For map reference and orientation I've added a massive asteroid in the middle of the map. Also to make the void more dark and mysterious I've chosen to create and add a very cool fog effect.

I am busy finalizing some things and I hope soon we can have a test-run on the map.

The idea is quite cool. It gives a new dynamic since most of the space battles will be in open space. So some special tactical manoeuvres might come in handy to win from your opponent.

I will let you guys know when it is ready. And ofcourse, let's keep in contact via Discord.

Dear Hoarders,

The future of real value is obviously in POOP paper. We just launched our Corona special where the new currency is Toilet paper. Do you want to buy a new spaceship? Sure! Just gather some TP!

How’s staying at home? I'm sure you are bored as hell and am interested in spending your time casually shooting everything you see in space with massive explosions, lasers, mines and chaos.

Luckily I am here for you. So I've decided to give a massive discount so you guys are able to try the new release of the game! Have fun!

It was time for a rebrand of Evolvation. I have just updated Evolvation to version 3.0. With this version I would like to give Evolvation a new start!

I am proud to say that with 3.0 released, the game has gained a performance increase of over 40%, package size is reduced by 200% and nearly all known bugs are fixed.

The Rebrand of Evolvation also means that I am producing new content! For instance, I have planned to release two new maps, a new gamemode, Official Linux support and more!

To celebrate this new release, I am nearly giving the game away for free for the upcoming week. Because it is a multiplayer game I will make sure to frequently update and give discounts.

PS. A lot of reviews state that the game is good, but that not many players are online. I have developed this game together with one friend and invested nearly all our savings in this game. There is sadly no way that we have the capacity to get near the attention or players that is required for a multiplayer game. With the current course of actions I hope to establish a player base so we are able to play together, which is the intend of this game. We can only do this together! So all help is appreciated.

Hello there community,

A few months ago I started with overhauling Evolvation. First step for me was to revise the keys in the circulation. This led to the accidental ban of activated keys. As you all know, this was never the intention. To fix the mistake I made the game free to be permanently added to the library. Crazy enough this had lead to two million downloads within a couple of days and overloaded our servers.

This unexpected explosion of the game was never intended. We were not ready at all and the game was far from finished! Unfortunately this had led to some negative reviews which I hoped to avoid since we knew that there were some improvements needed (which were planned to be overhauled, however we were not able to do that because of the unexpected commotion).

However, the upside of this story is that we were able to gain a great community which is currently setup via Discord (https://discord.gg/qWkaTGQ). With the community we organized events and discussed a new gamemodel. Based on the input of this great community we started our planned overhaul of Evolvation.

So after a couple of months of hard work I am happy to announce the experimental release of the new gamemodel! Of course, it is not done yet. We are releasing this experimental branch to test if out with you guys and gain new input to optimize the game.

The most important changes of the experimental release includes at the moment:
• New UI (With full credits of the design to @CaptainLel)
• Finetuned the game for competitive gaming
o Completely overhauled all ship statistics
o Overhauled complete upgrading system. There is no upgrading system,
only predefined weapons and unlockable weapons, skins, perks etc.
o All weapon statistics are overhauled
o Weapon weight added: different bonuses and penalties of the weapon
based on weight and class of ship. E.g. heavy weapons have more
effect on the maneuverability and speed on light and less powerful ships
than ships with a heavy engine.
o Class system overhauled: We now have 5 classes with natural
opponents. Each class has a much stronger unique presence and
abilities than before. This also includes a complete overhaul of each
class statistic.
o Class abilities overhauled: e.g. Backwards teleport (Highspeed), homing
EMP (Support), Heatseaker (Tank) etc.
o Class abilities are now energy based. Not based on cooldown.
• New weapons: Shotgun and flakgun are added.
• A new map, Planetary Combat, is added for experimental testing, it is finetuned for very intense combat
• And a lot more! But I will not try to bore you with all the details for now.

There are still a lot of things to be done before we can actually release this branch for instance:
• We have problems with our login server. It sometimes take a bit longer than expected, we still need to tune it.
• A very important gamemode for Evolvation still has to be created: A Domination like mode with control points.
• Capture the HyperDrive gamemode is added but I do not think it works out at the moment. I was thinking about some changes like a king of the hill mode?
• The UI does not work well with keyboard and controller at the moment.
• Perks and cosmetics still need to be created, this is key for the game
• An active and correct leaderboard needs to be updated and a new updated achievement system has to be implemented.
• Sometimes bots stand still and are not being able to be destroyed.
• Tutorial is not correct anymore, given the new game model.

I think these are the most important things for now. I cannot wait to test the game out with you guys and try to optimize is to your wishes!
Lets plan an event to meet and test the new model out!

To activate the experimental branch go to steam -> library -> Evolvation -> properties -> betas -> select the experimental beta branch and that’s it!

Please note that it is still for testing purposes only, until we are ready to bring the game completely to market! I want to avoid the negative reviews of people who do not understand that the game is in development.

Last but not least Jacob and I would like to use this message to thank all of you guys with the extensive help and feedback that you guys gave us.
Without you, it would not be possible and it gives us the motivation to make the best! There are so many people that have helped us with for instance the UI, discussions about the new datamodel, translations (not completed yet), event organization , server management and hosting and a lot more! It is on our list to make an official credits list of all the people who have helped us.

Small update here: Since the last couple of months we have gathered a lot of feedback from our community setup on Discord. Based on the input of the community we have redesigned the game and will publish a new experimental branch tomorrow for testing purposes only.

Hey all,

Just wanted to give you guys a small update:Upgrades:.

After gaining a massive amount of very positive feedback and great suggestions about the proposed gamemodel, Jacob and I started today with designing and implementing the new model! We do not know how long this will take since we have to change a lot like setting up new datamodels, change the UI logic etc. etc. but ofcourse we will keep you up-to-date.

When we are ready we want to share this experimental branch with you guys to test it out!

We want to thank you guys graciously for all your extensive support and feedback. Without you guys we would never have come so far. There is still a long road before us, however, we truly believe that we can make this game really awesome together.

Bonjour les pilotes,

We have two huge features this release which were requested a lot by our community: Joystick support and support for several languages. Read below for a more in detail update.

Main features:
* Joystick support (experimental)
- Still experimental, since we feel this still has to be tuned. Please test it and let us know your ideas on how to improve this further.
- Default bindings for Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas included
- For other joysticks keybinds can be set in the options menu. If you like to get the keybinds for your Joystick added by default, please contact us on the Discord.
* Localisation support
- Added support for French language (see options menu)
- Polish, Russian and Dutch translations are in progress
Improvements:
* Improvement to sounds (engine and rocket trail make less noise, while flares are louder)
* Improved 3rd person camera, it now moves more smooth.
* On the scoreboard spaceship names are now displayed instead of "fighter 1" etc.
* Menu now scales better (was required for localization support). There is still a lot to be done here (we are redesigning the UI)
- Bot strength increased
- And a lot of small other things

Bugfixes:
* Fixed an issue for certain maps where other players were initially not visible and became visible after first respawn.
* Fixed a bug with the support ship: lasers would sometimes bounce seemingly randomly when shooting.
* Chat now properly scrolls down in case multiline text is added.
* Fixed hosting of Free For All Matches
* Negative count when flying outside of the level boundaries is now fixed
* Bots no longer die at the end of a match
* And a lot of small other things


I would like to give a huge shoutout to all the people from the community that helped us for this release: For instance with the French translations (Colonel Mustard) and Extensive bugreports from a lot of people via the Discord Community (they keep us very busy :))


The community is currently working hard on further improvements of translations (Russian by mrlol and Polish by Blu') and a complete redesign of the UI (by CaptainLel). Next to those we are discussing a redesign of our current game model with a large group of people.
