We're still busy developing the Iceland DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, and today, we would like you to meet some of our colleagues from the team that is putting this upcoming map expansion together, as they all have a short message for our #BestCommunityEver!

There are, of course, more people across the company who are contributing to the Iceland map expansion, but in this blog, we'd like to introduce you to six members of the map design team - part of a talented group of ten designers in total, led by Ivo and including two external colleagues.

"Iceland is my dream project. As a Map Lead, I was there at its beginning, and I am very happy that we can bring our players the unique landscape and a slightly different experience than in other parts of the map, with an emphasis on small roads and sparsely populated areas with majestic views. As a fan of Old Norse history, I have been interested in Iceland for a long time, and I am delighted when I can discover some of the places I know from Icelandic sagas. From this also comes the advantage that Icelandic is not as challenging for me as it is for my colleagues who are encountering it for the first time. Although Iceland is smaller in size, it is a very demanding challenge in terms of landscape construction, but my team and I are doing our best to convey its beauty to the players."

"Hi! My name is Andrea, and before Iceland, I was working on the Nordic Horizons DLC. It was quite a journey since it was my first project here, but I have learned so much throughout the whole production - not only about the map editor, but also real-life locations, traffic rules, etc. I'm so glad I can use all the experience for the beautiful scenery of Iceland. The nature there is truly breathtaking, and we will do our best to reproduce the ethereal atmosphere for you."

"I joined the SCS team in 2021, largely by chance, I would say. Before that, I was a huge fan of PC and console gaming, but I never thought I could also create beautiful video game worlds and be part of this mysterious world. It turns out I can, and it's incredibly exciting. I doubt there's another job as amazing as this one. I'm excited to have had the opportunity to work on Iceland - one of the most unique countries in the world, one that often doesn't even look like our planet. And when you can create something truly beautiful, inspiring, and unique for so many people around the world with your own hands, it's an incredible feeling. I'm surrounded by great people here, and we work in a fantastic office with everything we need for work. And all we have to do is create and do the best we can for our players."

"I joined SCS in 2023 after finishing Art School, looking for a job where I can stay creative. I've always loved building things in PC games and exploring maps in RPGs, so to get to build small worlds for a living is really a treat. So far, I've worked on both Greece DLC and Nordic Horizons DLC - each very different, though both immensely fun! Now I'm excited to work on Iceland's very unique landscape, marvelling at the overall beauty, the abundance of rocks, and the lack of trees, hoping to put as many sheep as humanly possible into the map."

"At the end of 2022, I decided to follow my dream of working on a video game. Back then, it felt like a risk, since I had to leave my home city and enter an unknown territory, but now I know that it was the best decision of my life. I really enjoy building map areas knowing that players will get to explore and enjoy them. Personally, I like it the most when I can build more complicated roads with turns, elevations, hills, and mountains. Because of that, I am super happy that I get to work on Iceland even though at first its unique environment felt confusing to me. But after a while, I was able to orient myself, and now I enjoy the challenge. I am looking forward to the release, and I hope everyone will have a lot of fun playing it. We’re excited to share a preview of some of the remarkable landmarks that await you in our upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. From beautifully engineered bridges to the northernmost point of Europe, our team has faithfully recreated these real-world icons with a touch of Nordic magic! Let's check some of them out together.


First stop, The Hålogaland Bridge! Located along the E6, it is one of Norway’s most impressive modern engineering achievements. Officially opened in 2018, it stretches 1,533 metres across the Rombaksfjorden, making it the country’s second-longest suspension bridge. Its 175-metre pylons, sweeping cable design, and strategic role in improving regional transport links make it a landmark not just for its beauty, but for its importance to northern Norway’s road network. In-game, you’ll be able to enjoy the same spectacular fjord and mountain views that make this crossing a favourite among travellers and locals alike.

Venturing inland, culture and heritage shine through at the Sámi Parliament in Karasjok, a striking modern building inspired by traditional Lavvu structures and serving as a proud symbol of Sámi self-governance. Further south, you’ll also find the historic Gävle Theatre in Gävle, Sweden, a beautiful 19th-century performing arts theatre known for its elegant architecture and long tradition of hosting drama, music, and cultural events. Together, these landmarks offer a glimpse into the diverse cultural fabric of the Nordic region, from indigenous heritage to classical Scandinavian arts.

And then, the crown of the Arctic: Nordkapp. Standing 307 metres above the Barents Sea, this dramatic cliff plateau has long been regarded as the northernmost point of mainland Europe. Marked by its famous globe monument, it offers sweeping Arctic Ocean views, midnight sun in summer, polar nights in winter, and a true sense of achievement when you finally reach this must-visit landmark.

Have you been a good driver this year? If so, you'll also be able to visit the world-famous Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, where Christmas cheer meets the Arctic Circle, yes, even in July! Sitting directly on the Arctic Circle, it's one of Finland’s most visited destinations. Be sure to bring your festive spirit when visiting here!

Along your travels, you'll come across the Björnfjell customs station on the E10 at the Norwegian & Swedish border. While it may not top tourist lists, it has long served as an important mountain crossing between Narvik and northern Sweden. Surrounded by a beautiful snow-topped mountain landscape, this small outpost is an important landmark and stop for truckers!

That’s not everything, of course, the Nordic Horizons DLC is packed with many more landmarks to discover, from scenic viewpoints to roadside icons like the Giant Wooden Bear of Sveg. We’ll leave the rest for you to find out on the road!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Open Beta for the 1.57 update of Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available to try and test out! If you would like to take part in this Open Beta, we would really appreciate it if you could help us by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums.

Update 1.57 for ETS2 brings the long-awaited refresh for the Scandinavia DLC. Our team has embarked on an ambitious refresh of the Scandinavia map expansion to create and bring the region up to the quality standards of newer map content.

Key improvements include:

• A full refresh of the region with updated textures, vegetation, and road assets, alongside new rest stops and fuel stations.

• A major overhaul of the road network: custom-designed junctions replacing old prefabs (notably around Denmark’s motorways and Sweden’s busy E-corridors).

• New map additions, including the brand-new cities of Aarhus in Denmark and Karlstad in Sweden, along with a completely rebuilt Copenhagen featuring modern infrastructure and landmark recreations to enrich the network and scenery, and much more for you to discover!

This update is intended to ensure that when players cross through the Scandinavia region en route to the upcoming Nordic Horizons expansion, the visual and structural transition feels seamless and up-to-date.

We are implementing HDR (High Dynamic Range) support in the game. HDR is a feature that enhances image quality, allowing players with HDR-compatible monitors or TVs to experience richer colours and improved contrast.

Alongside HDR, we are also updating the brightness setup to give players more control over visual settings. This will include a dedicated setup screen where you can preview your brightness adjustments on actual in-game images, as well as an HDR Calibration feature, which lets you fine-tune the HDR effect using a simple slider.

For players using HDR-compatible displays, the feature will be automatically enabled in the game, ensuring you get the best possible visual experience from the moment you start playing.

We've also fine-tuned the cursor navigation experience. The cursor speed is now consistent across all screen resolutions, and the overall speed and control precision have been slightly increased when using a controller, making navigation smoother and more responsive.

The long-awaited dynamic loading and unloading feature is debuting in Euro Truck Simulator 2, bringing even more immersion and realism to your trucking experience.

Originally introduced in American Truck Simulator, this feature will now appear in selected custom and prefab depots across ETS2, starting with locations in the Nordic Horizons DLC and expanding to suitable depots throughout the base map, other map DLCs, and even a custom shipyard in Athens, Greece.

For the initial rollout, logging trailers will be the first to benefit from this feature. Players hauling Logs, Large Tubes, or Iron Pipes will see material handlers or crawler excavators dynamically loading and unloading their cargo. Simply position your trailer in the designated area, and the process will start automatically, adding a satisfying touch of realism to every delivery.

From sawmills and construction sites to steelworks and material stores, drivers will find plenty of opportunities to try out this new system. And this is just the beginning, our team plans to expand dynamic loading and unloading to more cargo types and locations in future updates. The Scania R & S series will receive a major overhaul in 1.57, introducing the newest SUPER engines (420–560 hp) and V8 powertrains (590, 660, 770 hp) alongside Opticruise G25, G33, G38 CM, and CMR transmissions.

Inside, drivers can enjoy Scania’s new Smart Dash and Smart Dash Advanced interiors, available in several variants. On the outside, there are fresh customization options such as SUPER badges, sensor-equipped fenders, and official Scania SUPER and 770 paint jobs for both trucks and trailers.

We have some thrilling new content for owners of the Special Transport DLC. This free update adds two massive new cargoes designed to push your driving precision and skill to the limit, perfect for those who love a real challenge on the road.

Wind Turbine Blade

First up is the Wind Turbine Blade, an impressive 30-metre load that demands full control and focus. Hauled on a 4-axle steerable trailer, this heavy cargo will test even the most experienced drivers. You’ll find this contract available from Rostock to Berlin in Germany and, for those exploring the upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC, from Jyväskylä to Vaasa.

Underground Loader

The second addition, the Underground Loader, is a mining powerhouse that comes with serious weight and scale. Carried on a 6-axle low loader trailer, this job will challenge your ability to handle long and heavy loads, with routes available from Dortmund to Hannover and Narvik to Kiruna in Nordic Horizons.

The Krone Trailer Pack DLC is expanding with several new configurations! This update introduces city versions of existing Krone trailers, designed with steerable axles for improved manoeuvrability in tight urban environments.

The new additions include the following:

• Profi Liner City

• Cool Liner City

• Dry Liner City

• Profi Liner HCT

Last but not least, the update 1.57 refreshes your company identity with a new set of logos to choose from when creating or updating your profile. The classic designs were modernized to give every company a fresh but familiar look.

The update also adds new customisation options for paint jobs - you can now choose your own colours using the RGB picker or select from preset combinations to create a look that perfectly fits your company’s identity.

With the upcoming 1.57 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we are excited to introduce a significant update to the popular Scania R & S series, reflecting the latest generation of technology and design from Scania’s line-up. Our team has been hard at work bringing this update to life, and today we’re happy to share more with you. Ready to see what’s new? Let’s take a look!

This update introduces a wide range of SUPER engines, including 420, 460, 500, and 560 horsepower options. We know many of you have been particularly excited for Scania's latest V8 offerings, and we’re happy to share that the powerful 590, 660, and 770 horsepower engines along with new Opticruise G25, G33, G38 CM and CMR transmissions will also be included in this update. Whether you're hauling long-distance cargo across motorways or taking on more challenging, oversized deliveries, these engines provide both excellent fuel efficiency and the hauling power Scania is known for. 


The interior has also received special attention with the addition of Scania’s modern Smart Dash and Smart Dash Advanced interiors. Available in Dark, Light, and V8-specific variants, each option features enhanced in-cab technology designed around the driver. With a variety of in-cab customisation options available in ETS2, you can be sure to feel right at home whilst on the road.


Visually, players can also enjoy a number of new exterior options for the Scania R & S, including the option to add SUPER engine badges, SUPER grille emblems, and special cabin badges for those who own the Mighty Griffin Tuning Pack. We've also included the options to add separated rear lights, front fenders with sensors, and removable rear fender tops. 


To further reflect real-world configurations, we have also expanded the available fuel tank options across multiple chassis types, which include:

• 4x2: 1070 L and 1290 L 

• 6x2: 510 L and 600 L 

• 6x2 Long: 965 L and 1000 L

In addition to all of the above, this update introduces the official Scania SUPER and 770 paint jobs, available for both trucks and compatible trailers. Based on real-world designs, these liveries are an ideal match for anyone driving with the new SUPER engine on the roads of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Big News Ahead! ⚠️ Today we're excited to share that a free update is coming to owners of the Special Transport DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 in our upcoming 1.57 update. We hope your driving skills are up to scratch, because we've got some new and challenging cargoes coming your way!

Taking the wheel of a truck hauling massive cargo is no easy job. It’s not just about the size of the load, it’s about the skill and focus it takes to handle it. Moving something that big down highways and tight roads is a real test of balance between power and precision. Only the most skilled drivers can pull it off. Think you’ve got what it takes? 

Wind Turbine Blade

This impressive 30-metre giant Wind Turbine Blade is a cargo that demands precision and focus to deliver. Hauled on a specially designed blade hauler semi-trailer, this setup features a 30-metre, 4-axle chassis where every axle is steerable, ensuring maximum control around tight turns. With the trailer itself weighing 20,820 kg and the blade another 5,500 kg, this is a true test of skill for any driver brave enough to take on such a monumental haul.

Underground Loader

This heavy-duty machine has been built for demanding mining operations. It is hauled on a specially built 6-axle low loader trailer, where every axle is steerable to help navigate even the tightest roads. The trailer itself weighs 35,000 kg and stretches 25 metres long, making it the perfect match for carrying this 54,500 kg beast (72,000 kg when loaded). It’s a serious challenge for any driver who’s ready to take on one of our heaviest cargoes in the game.

Naturally, with these new cargoes come new routes! If you're a big fan of the Wind Turbine Blade, drivers will be able to find this Special Transport job contract available from Rostock to Berlin in Germany, and also in our upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC, which will route from Jyväskylä to Vaasa.

Both of these routes will take you from the blade manufacturer directly to a wind turbine construction site. The German route, in particular, will really test your precision, with a tight finish that requires some serious manoeuvring to get into the depot and park the trailer properly.

For the Underground Loader, you’ll be able to pick up this Special Transport job contract available from Dortmund to Hannover, as well as in our upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC from Narvik to Kiruna, which will take you from a service depot to an underground mine!

Today, we’re excited to share one of the projects we’ve been working on for the upcoming 1.57 update. A small part of our Vehicles team has been reworking the selectable company logos that you can choose when first creating your driver profile, along with the matching company paint jobs available for your truck and trailer. Let’s take a closer look at the designs and the work involved!

Matej and Tomáš from our Vehicles Team have been at the forefront of this project, bringing new designs to life. We asked them a few questions to learn about this project. Matej explained how the idea first came about “The idea basically came from our shared vision of reworking the UI and various elements that we’ve been updating over the last few patches. So, we decided to get involved and created more modern company logos, which will be available in both ATS and ETS2, as well as matching company paintjobs for trucks and trailers, which are coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2 in this update.”

Once the concept was agreed upon, work began on reimagining the logos and the corresponding paint jobs. This was no small task, and required careful collaboration between different members of the team. “We’ve been working on the new logos and the paintjobs for several months, mainly as a duo with my good colleague and friend, Tomáš V” Matej continues. “Together with our whole paintjob department, we wanted to make sure every single paintjob fits as best as possible with the specific shapes of different truck cabins, paintable accessories and box trailers, doubles, tankers, or dumpers.”

The design vision behind this refresh was rooted in both modernisation and preservation. Tomáš shared more about their approach: “Since the existing paintjobs have been available to our players since 2016, our main goal was definitely to make them more modern and realistic. At the same time, we felt it was important not to change the overall look of the paintjobs and logos too much from the originals. We really wanted players to still feel a sense of nostalgia and connection in our modern reinterpretation.”

Alongside the visual improvements, the update also introduces more flexibility for player customisation. “We also wanted to give players more customization options, so all our new paintjobs now come with the option to use the RGB colour picker” Matej adds. “This gives every player the choice to either set their own preferred colours or choose from our pre-selected preset combinations.”
