Eldervale - Solkitte
Hey all,

The Eldervale remake has been ported to a new engine version, got replaced lighting models and rendering. The character model has also been completely reworked with much smoother animations and controls. This is only the beginning, as from now on I can actively rework environmental models and textures to look even better.

The most important difference will not be purely cosmetic however. My main goal is to improve melee and shooting combat, camera and character controls (especially joystick controls) drastically. This is my main objective in this project. A stretch goal would be to add some new areas to extend the game a bit.

In the end, the remake will drastically improve production quality while being a free update. The game may get a base price increase later on. Owners of the game will be able to play both the original version and the remake.

Thank you for all the support over the years, I'm working on a lot of stuff for Eldervale, the sequel and my other projects. It takes a while being a solo dev and I definitely had difficulties in these past 2 years, but please, if you want to support me or be up to date about how the projects are coming along,

Eldervale - Solkitte
- You will be able to play the demo version of Eldervale 2 for free, right here on Steam!

- If the second game receives positive feedback and is successful enough, I will remake the first game with all the new tech and improvements from Eldervale 2. This remake will be free for all owners of the original game and you will still be able to access the original (current) version!

- Eldervale 2 takes place right after the events of the first game.

- With the host anchoring the Elders to the Delaney Institution destroyed, their wrath descends upon the nearby town of Alder Stow.

- Eldervale 2 is built from the ground up to make the highest possible jump in quality and player accessibility compared to the first game.

- Explore the natural environment that surrounds the Delaney Institution and the entire town of Alder Stow with its many different districts and creepy ol' buildings.

- Resource and item collection returns with many more items than before. In addition to a new token/vending machine system, there is a crafting system inspired by the Alchemy puzzle of EV1. Discover hidden recipes to create powerful items! You can use each reagent for offensive, defensive or utility purposes.

(This post will be updated with more and more info until the Eldervale 2 Steam Page is available so keep an eye out!)

Hey all!

Eldervale 2 has been in development throughout the year and I'm finally close to revealing it. Really excited to show you how much improvement has been made. If you like anything about the first game, it's worth keeping an eye on the sequel!

I could keep talking about the changes and new stuff all day long but it's better to show don't tell, so instead of promising anything, you will soon see for yourself how your support for the first game paid off in the sequel!

If you missed the big update for the first game, now is the perfect time to check out the free DLC!

Time for me to get back to work on Eldervale 2, see you soon with new content!

Eldervale Patch Notes (1.2.2)

- After finishing Chapter 1, some parts of the level will be blocked off to avoid pointless backtracking.
- The Elder Costume will now adapt to the base costume variation, changing it's color and texture.
- Equip Melee weapon now bound to the "4" key in addition to "0".
- Resources now spawn for twice as long during the bossfight.
- Default camera type is now "Medium" instead of "Far".
- SMG bullet spread reduced.
- If you fail to pick up the 2F or B1 maps, they will appear on a different place later in the game.
- Added camera events to the Statue, Patient and Dial puzzles when solved.
- Added a camera event near the SMG.
- You can no longer leave the basement before picking up the Handgun.

Originally, the entire level was accessible by the end of the game to provide shortcuts to previously visited save points or vending machines and get more "a-ha!" moments when returning to old areas.
But this reward proved small, compared to the frustrating effect it had on some players who ended up backtracking to old areas that were irrelevant to progressing.

Eldervale 1.2.0 - Deep Reserves

Hello everyone! Hope you're doing good!

Deep Reserves is a challenge map featuring branching paths, new enemies, plenty of secrets and it's own progression system. It takes place after the main game's events and you start with all weapons and equipment. It's recommended to tackle this content after completing the main game at least once.

There are no save points in Deep Reserves, you have to reach an escape point or the very end to survive.
Progression

You have multiple ways of earning Elder Runes, a currency that can be spent after each run to increase your power permanently. The win conditions are tailored towards combat-oriented and speedrunner playstyles. You will have to kill as many enemies as you can or get to an escape point quickly to earn runes.

There are also plenty of secrets, big and small. Finding more and more of these will make your attempts more manageable by providing you with ammo and healing items.

You will come across areas where you need to solve randomized puzzles. Finding the most optimal path around these sections can save you time to meet the requirements for a rune.

Win Conditions

These are subject to change as players will share their feedback. Here are a few current examples:

To gain 1 rune.

- Get 30 kills and escape through the Laboratory (around the 2/3 mark).

- Get to the escape point in under 10 minutes.

To gain 2 runes.

- Get 50 kills and escape through the Laboratory.

- Get to the escape point in under 5 minutes.

To gain 3 runes.

- Get 50 kills, reach the final area and kill the boss in under 15 minutes.

Rewards

The main unlockable tied to Deep Reserves is the Elder costume. Once unlocked, it can be used in both the DLC and the main game. It's unique among the other costumes, as it can be equipped together with other skins. It is also animated and doubles as a light source.

You can unlock this costume by doing a single perfect run by killing the boss and many enemies under a tight time limit OR level up your profile to maximum.

More Information

There are still many features and details I didn't cover like how the DLC fits into the story, new enemies, tips on how to rake up those Elder Runes and what's next to the DLC and the game in general.

Many exciting things to share, keep an eye on the game's Steam page for updates, or join our Discord Community to ask me anything and provide quick feedback:
