Dying Light

Dying Light gets a Hellraid DLC this summer, Techland has announced.

Hellraid is the on-hold first-person fantasy game pitched as a mashup of The Elder Scrolls and Dying Light, and the spiritual successor to Hexen and Witchhaven.

It was initially planned for release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013, but was delayed to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014. Then, in 2015, it was delayed indefinitely.

Left 4 Dead 2

Techland's four-and-a-half year-old zombie kill 'em-up Dying Light is getting a surprise crossover with Valve's 10 year-old zombie kill 'em-up Left 4 Dead 2.

The announcement was made over at the Dying Light Twitter page alongside an image showing Left 4 Dead 2-style weapons raised and ready for action.

It's a surprise crossover, but a welcome one - and it's worth remembering both games remain popular on Steam, where they're in the top 100 games by current player count.

Dying Light

Standalone battle royale spin-off Dying Light: Bad Blood will arrive on Steam Early Access in September. The Early Access release will be for PC players only but Bad Blood will be a multiplatform PC and console (presumably PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) game upon full release.

When full release is, however, is unclear, but there's a line in the press release which suggests the Early Access could last three months. "The $19.99 Founder's Pack provides in-game currency and exclusive items, including the Founder's Pass that will deliver three Legendary skins throughout the three months following the Early Access launch," it says.

The $20 Founder's Pack is what you need to buy to join the Early Access phase, although when Bad Blood eventually launches it will be free-to-play. Various maps, modes and items will be added throughout Early Access.

Dying Light

There's not a lot to this story but it's a nice piece of generosity to highlight: Dying Light's commitment to a year of free content drops continues with a new Gun Silencer pistol attachment inspired by the community and released today.

The silencer allows you to pop zombie heads without alerting nearby zombies, which is a very desirable thing to be able to do in Dying Light. You can find the silencer blueprints at the quartermaster's.

The Gun Silencer is the second of 10 planned free content drops for Dying Light, which will be delivered over the course of a year. The motivation behind them is to thank the game's active and large community for their ongoing support, and to keep giving them new reasons to come back of course.

Dying Light

Zombie kill 'em up Dying Light gets a Battle Royale-inspired standalone PvP expansion called Bad Blood next year.

Developer Techland said Bad Blood comes "as a response to numerous fan requests for a PvP approach to Dying Light, and the recent popularity of the Battle Royale genre among the survival horror fans", which presumably is a nod to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite.

The big difference between the likes of PUBG and Bad Blood, however, is Bad Blood is only for six players, and it blends PvP with PvE. Here's how it works: you and five other players are dropped into a hostile, zombie-infested area. Each player has to evacuate before the night falls. You have to scavenge for weapons while harvesting blood samples from the infected.
