Trine 4, Earthlock 2 and the tantalizingly titled Spacebase Startopia are among a list of thirty games being co-funded by the EU Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). While I’m not familiar with too many of the studios, and the titles for most of these games mean very little, it’s good to see Frozenbyte planning on continuing their visually delicious Trine series.

Among the titles listed, the game that most catches my attention here is Spacebase Startopia, being developed by Realmforge Studios, creators of the Dungeon Keeper-inspired Dungeons. While just speculation, a successor to Mucky Foot’s underrated space manage ’em up would make sense. Fingers crossed, as it would be in keeping with the studio’s Bullfrog-adjacent approach recently.

We’ll never get Dungeon Keeper 3, but in a few days we will get Dungeons 3, sequel to a not-Bullfrog spiritual remake that took the long way round to evoking its revered forebear. Dungeons 1 was a hot mess, but in our Dungeons 2 review I felt it made a pretty decent fist of the ol’ monster-management + RTS combat formula. Dungeons 3 [Steam page], all of a sudden out next week (we newsed it back in February but this was the first I’d heard of it, and I’m the only one who matters), looks like it’s trying to refine that even further.

Realmforge are diving back into the Dungeon Keeper-ish world of Dungeons, announcing Dungeons 3 [Steam page] for autumn. It’s a real-time strategy game about an evil overlord building a dungeon to raise, train, and protect dastardly minions then sending ’em out to raid and ravage the shiny happy overworld – Dungeon Keeper meets Warcraft. Our Alec quite liked Dungeons 2 so, sure, a new game building on that sounds good. This time, it’ll pack a two-player co-op mode and Realmforge say the overworld RTS bits are “fully reworked” too. … [visit site to read more]
