Video game publisher THQ Nordic says it will celebrate its 10th anniversary by announcing six new games, including new installments in "legendary franchises" that apparently "fans have been waiting decades" for. Well!

The reveals will be made in the company's first ever digital showcase event, to be broadcast on 17th September at 8pm UK time (that's 5pm Eastern, or 12pm Pacific).

This showcase will be fronted by Geoff Keighley - who else? - and be shown on YouTube, Twitch and Steam (no word yet on 8chan).

New subscribers who start a year of Humble Choice Premium from the Humble Bundle website can get 45% off for Black Friday, reducing the price from £142.99 to £81.99 for the first year itself.

For those who don't know, Humble Choice Premium is a PC subscription service that allows players to pick a series of digital games to keep each month from a pool of 10 games or more. These range from small indie games to big AAA installments, but the amount you get to pick depends on the subscription plan you're on.

Fortunately, Premium is one of the best options, giving players the option to keep 9 of those games, as well as access to the Humble Trove (an online database of DRM-free games you can download for free), and a 20% discount on any other game you buy via Humble Bundle. If you need any more details, you can see them explained here.

Darksiders 3 has only been out six months, but further evidence has surfaced pointing to a new entry in the apocalyptic action series being revealed at this year's E3.

Hints of a new Darksiders first emerged during THQ Nordic's ill-fated 8Chan AMA via an image supposedly leaking the publisher's E3 lineup. And now further mention has been spotted on an official schedule for this year's E3 Coliseum - a three-day series of panels by publishers and developers for all show attendees.

Head over to the event calendar, hop to Thursday, 14th June, and cast your eyes downward to the 10:30am slot - where a panel titled Darksiders: Action Adventure Evolved is set to unfold.

New Darksiders and Destroy All Humans games look set for E3.

Internet sleuths aligned an image showing THQ Nordic's E3 lineup with comments made by the company's boss to deduce the titles the company is set to announce.

During THQ Nordiq's ill-fated 8Chan AMA, an image was uploaded by an employee of the company showing a list of games to be shown at E3 in June. On the list was Destroy All Humans and Darksiders: Genesis.

UPDATE 4/3/19: Following THQ Nordic GmBH's decision to host an AMA on hugely controversial website 8chan last week, co-founder and group-CEO of parent company THQ Nordic AB, Lars Wingefors, has offered his "sincerest apologies and regret" over the marketing stunt.

In a statement addressed to employees, partners, and consumers, Wingefors wrote, "This letter is to offer my sincerest apologies and regret for THQ Nordic GmbH Vienna's interaction with the controversial website 8chan last Tuesday, February 26. I condemn all unethical content this website stands for. Even if no one within the THQ Nordic Group would ever endorse such content, I realize simply appearing there gave an implicit impression that we did.

"As Co-Founder and Group CEO of THQ Nordic AB, I take full responsibility for all of THQ Nordic GmbH's actions and communications. I have spent the past several days conducting an internal investigation into this matter. I assure you that every member of the organization has learned from this past week's events. I take this matter very seriously and we will take appropriate action to make sure we have the right policies and systems in place to avoid similar mistakes in the future.

The developers of Darksiders 3 have patched the game to make it feel more like previous Darksiders games.

The game's second update was released to the PC version yesterday, 20th December. Now, when you load a save or start a new game, you'll pick from default or classic combat. The developers said classic mode should feel more like previous Darksiders games in that it lets Fury dodge interrupt her attacks and use items instantly. Default mode is, as you'd expect, the original combat mode for Darksiders 3.

Meanwhile, the update added a few new checkpoints (one of the criticisms of the game revolved around its brutal checkpoint system).

Darksiders 3 has failed to make an impact upon its launch in the UK. It turned up 32nd in this week's UK physical sales chart, with around a quarter of the boxed sales earned by this year's Farming Simulator.

Why compare Darksiders 3 with Farming Simulator 19? Well, this year's farming sim just launched a week ago - there were no other new launches in this latest chart.

And while we can compare Darksiders 3 directly with the boxed launch sales of predecessor Darksiders 2 (it sold around a seventh as many copies), this stat isn't the fairest. Darksiders 2 launched back in 2012, and so the rise in digital sales which will have nudged Darksiders 3's actual total slightly higher won't be reflected.

There's something of the palate cleanser to the faithful hack and slash game. When elsewhere the worlds are getting bigger, the narratives more urgent and the collectables more numerous, games such as Darksiders generally have only one goal: hitting monsters on the noggin. In Darksiders 3, you get to do that once again - and little else besides.

Six years after the last instalment - and some five years since the liquidation of the series' original publisher - Darksiders now has a new-ish publisher and a new-ish developer: THQ Nordic rose out of the ashes of THQ and many of the original Darksiders devs now work at Gunfire Games. The Darksiders sequel we have now is the result of this precarious second lease of life.

Darksiders 2 introduced drastic changes, like the massive inventory, the large number of weapons and the skill tree, to little applause, so part three does away with all of that. Unfortunately Gunfire Games goes about the trim like an overzealous hairstyling trainee who didn't know when to stop, leaving us with a game that just barely skirts the edges of boredom at times.

THQ Nordic has outlined its post-launch DLC plans for Darksiders 3, Gunfire Games' continuation of Vigil Games' well-regarded hack and slash action-adventure series.

Darksiders 3, which chronicles the escapades of Fury, the third Horseman of the Apocalypse, comes to PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on November 27th. It'll be followed by two separate DLC drops - each of which, according to THQ Nordic, will feature "new playable areas... new challenges, puzzles, items and enemies".

DLC pack one, known as The Crucible, takes Fury on a journey to the mysterious location of the title - her presence "requested by a strange entity wishing to test her skills in battle". This one's a Horde-Mode-style affair, with players up against "wave after wave of enemies". Success in combat will unlock new rewards and items.
