THIS. IS. MODERN BALLFARE!
That's right! We are finally leaving Steam Early Access! It's been a very wild few years and we believe we've added enough shiny new features and polish to officially call it a product! One we are proud of. There is always more we want to add, more we want to improve, and more crazy ideas that we want to try, so keep an eye out for that in the future.

We've poured a lot of love, sweat, tears, and turds into this and it's come a looooong way from our first release. Thank you very much to everyone in the community that has helped and supported us throughout this process, you've all been amazing!

NEW FEATURES
There is so much to talk about! We've been busy, we've been having fun, and as always we've been finding as many excuses as possible to put weird silly things into the game. There is a lot to cover so I'm jumping in!

Bosses From Hell
The undead horde has some new recruits to throw at you on boss waves. A fast-moving flying screecher that tries to poop on you, and an undead necromancer that ghosts through your attacks whilst laughing at you from afar as you are swarmed by it's minions.



Minibosses From Hell
We've also added two new mini bosses; a stronk healing boi that will buff enemies around it, and a slow-moving area-blocker that will slow you down if you get caught within it's aura! These fellas will turn up in the later waves at any time to deliver you pain if they catch you by surprise.


Dank Dungeons Map!
A new spooky map for Balls From Hell. Survive against the undead hordes in this medieval castle dungeon and explore it's secrets!


Skills In Hell
Single use unlockable skills are now useable in Balls From Hell. Rush B through an undead horde, throw a dancing-detonating-trap-Serbiaball, or just heal yourself if that's what you are in to.


Guns In Hell
Weapons now have weird and wonderful upgrade variants to help you survive the later waves. Who doesn't want a triple barrelled shotgun, or a rapid-fire duck launcher?!


Respawn In Hell
We've finally achieved the technical prowess to replicate real life in that when a someone dies in Hell, their coffin will appear somewhere close by. If it is found and the death toll is paid they'll come back from the dead.


Coins For Your Poor Friends
You can now drop in-game currency for other players to help each other out with those high priced upgrades and abilities. So now if you are hard-carrying or getting hard-carried you can share the wealth and increase the fun! Or something like that. Technically you are throwing poop at each other still, so bare that in mind.


Balls From Hell Difficulty Options
Some extra difficulty options for ya, one that makes it easier, and another that makes it harder, best of both worlds!


Grave Grotto Improvements
Completed a bit of an artistic overall of key map areas, along with the addition of some secret areas to unveil, powerful new weapons and skills to collect and use on the horde of the damned.


Skybrawl Map!
A new PvP map specifically for the Bats 'n' Balls game mode. Hone your sabre rattling skills and knock enemies off the map to kill them. There are single use jetpack skills spawning around the map to help you out too.


Melee Weapon Skins
A bunch of extra melee weapon skins got added too, like a chainsaw, a cinderblock on a stick, and other stuff too that I've forgotten and am too lazy to double check as I write this. You can unlock these from the Balls From Hell bosses, so finish reading the rest of this juicy update and then go kill them bosses.


Melee Stun Mechanic
Successfully parrying an enemy will now stun them for a moment, giving you an small window to punish them with a ball whack. This means you can now officially stun your friends with your melee skills. Nice work!

Loadout Unlock System
PvP loadout skills are now unlocked through the XP levelling system that you work towards when you play any game mode. It also gives you information about where to unlock each item, and skill descriptions that are both helpful and unhelpful - you are welcome.


Added Pocket Poland!
Throw Pocket Poland at other countries to capture them. You'll then unlock access to culturally appropriate them or something. This totally isn't a pokemans and is quite clearly it's own unique thing; Pocket Poland :)

TWEAKS
Re-worked, improved, or reinvented game features!
  • Reworked the AI melee blocking system so now it scales with difficulty.
  • Reworked the AI melee attacking system so they behave more naturally and try to attack you in different ways.
  • Reworked the melee knockback system so now it feels much better whacking balls around.
  • Improved the way AI hunts for the player in a few areas, meaning they look a little less dumb some of the time.
  • Revised the melee weapon hit detection to be fairer and more responsive.
  • Added a small counter mechanic where if you successfully block an enemy you can attack a little bit faster than before.
  • Reworked the impact knockback for the Pulse gun in Bats n Balls so it behaves more consistently.
  • Added sound effects, animations, and particles to the loadout in the Main Menu so it feels extra epic when you style your balls.
  • Massive rework to the Balls From Hell zombie spawn system - now they pop out the ground like real scum from hell! Yay!
  • In Balls From Hell you now start with a basic melee weapon in your inventory.
  • In Balls From Hell you can now whack back flying enemy projectiles with your melee weapon!
  • Rebalanced the Balls From Hell weaponry - far too many specific details to list here (so many that I didn't keep track of them!).
  • Rebalanced the Balls From Hell zombie health and currency reward values.
  • Added 'waiting for host' loading spinners to the PvP pre-game lobby.
  • Added a new hover tooltip system for areas like map select and the loadout. So now you get a bit more information where some might need it.
  • Improved the icon rendering in the UI so those poorly drawn icons are extra crisp.
  • Added some extra XP ranks (They are named after key community members!)
  • Added in helpful and unhelpful tips to the death screen in PvP game modes. The best time to learn is when you are dead!
  • Added extra player count options to the host screen. You can now 1v1 or 2v2 me bro.


FIXES
Fixed embarassing parts of the game that crashed, broke, or otherwise looked balls!
  • Fixed an issue where the melee block animations weren't in sync with the block timing.
  • Fixed a bunch of small issues around AI pathing and behaviours so now they are even more optimised.
  • Fixed an issue in the loadout where sometimes you couldn't select certain skills in certain slots.
  • Fixed an issue in the PvP pre- and post-game lobbies where the upcoming game mode name was incorrect.
  • Fixed an issue inn PvP where the post-game voting system could display broken maps.
  • Fixed a few issues with spawn positioning in the Bunkertown map.
  • Fixed an issue where the default loadout selection could be incorrect when you first boot the game.
  • Fixed an issue where the Golden Pinata wouldn't be consistently shown to all players.

HELLO, CALL OF BEAUTY FANS!
This started out as several seperate updates focusing around community requests. But just like in true Indie-Game-Dev fashion, the changes and improvements grew and grew and grew! So we've just wrapped 'em all up together instead. In summary, this update features a whole bunch of consistently requested features such as: Controller Support, Key Rebindings, flags from around the world and history, as well as a heap of bug fixes and improvements called out by you!

NEW FEATURES
Okay, so, some bad news first... The plugin we were using to help us keep track of the Steam leaderboard entries fell down, fell down pretty hard, and would keep falling down in a way that could cause the game to crash a lot. So we had to rip that out and make our own system. This means that hooray the game will crash a lot less, buuut it does also mean we have had to reset all the Steam leaderboard stats. This kinda sucks, and we are sorry about it! This won't affect any of the your saves (xp level, unlocks, etc) though, only the server side data like total kills, deaths, and things like that.

To make it up do you - who am I kidding; we were already making these things for you already - we have all these awesome new features:

Key Rebindings!
You can now remap (nearly all of) the keyboard and mouse inputs to be whatever you want! So now if you have a fancy pants keyboard with accented letters you can now use those instead.

Or if you just personally hate me and the control layout I worked so hard on you can use your own! :P

Partial Controller Support
You can finally use a controller!! They only work for match gameplay; meaning you can move, aim, attack, use skills, etc - but you can't use a controller to navigate the UI for the time being. You can't rebind the controller inputs either yet, but there are a few settings for tweaking how it feels.


I know this looks like normal gameplay and the buttons still show keyboard keys, but this is footage of me playing with a controller, I promise!! In fact, all the gameplay footage in this update is of me using a controller.

Discord Announcer Bot
To help players find matches and add an extra layer of transparency, a bot will post notifications in our Discord server when matches are hosted. Demonstrated in this image by the lovely Alsacer:


You Can Now Spray

When throwing your poop at the wall just isn't enough, you can now spray it over the wall too ;)

Added A Crash Catcher
Although we've spent a great deal of time fixing crashes and optimising the game as much as we can, there is always going to be some crashes that sneak through. This is where the Crash Catcher comes in! Once the game has fully booted any crash after that point should be caught and then you'll be presented with a screen that gives you some error codes. If you then report those codes to us we have a much better chance at making the game even more bulletproof!

TWEAKS
Re-worked, improved, or reinvented game features!
  • Added further performance optmisations to Winter Valley to help make the game a bit smoother when on lower graphics settings (For example the dynamic snow is now disabled when the graphics are set to Low in the Options. For users like 'V0ID').
  • We've changed the way the game sets the default screen resolution when you first boot the game. So now new players should have a mildly easier time getting in and shooting balls instead of fighting graphics settings.
  • Spitfire skill can now lock on to bot enemies.
  • Tweaked the rocket launcher in Balls From Hell so it no longer pushes friendly characters when they are caught in the blast radius.
  • Flipped Poland back after the flip schenanigans from a while back...
  • Updated a bunch of visuals on the zombie ball characters in preperation for the upcoming Zombie Update ;)
  • Added a slight knockback to players that get parried.
  • Revised core bot melee behaviours (e.g. the way they engage enemies, attack, and block).
  • Added more bot melee rules tied to the difficulty. For example now the higher the difficulty the better they are at blocking melee attacks!

FIXES

  • Fixed an issue where the Gameplay Settings wouldn't persist across game sessions.
  • Fixed an issue where the framerate could drop significantly when respawning.
  • Fixed an issue where you players couldn't block bot melee attacks
  • Fixed an issue where the server browser wouldn't display servers when you first enter the screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the jetpack sometimes wouldn't display on characters when equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where the Pinata map would sometimes display with incorrect object colouring.
  • Fixed an issue where the chance of a Golden Pinata was dramatically reduced.
  • Fixed a bunch of spelling errors throughout the UI.
  • Updated a bunch of UI descriptions to be a smidgen more helpful.
  • Fixed an issue where the Winter Valley landscape in the Host Game screen could cause game breaking errors.
  • Fixed an issue where the explosion marks in the maps wouldn't display correctly.
  • Fixed a bunch of issues around colour of name tags for friend and foe characters. So now it is more likely to show enemies with red, and friendlies with white name tags.
  • Fixed an issue where terrain from the previous map was sometimes incorrectly present during Pinata Time.
  • Fixed an issue where the equipment cooldown could get stuck.
  • Fixed an issue where the Main Menu could display a weird thick line in the background in some locations.
  • Fixed an issue where some UI titles could disappear if you died with the menu open.
  • Fixed issues where the player could sometimes get stuck without a weapon when spamming skills. I think this can still appear occastionally in Hacker Mode when you go absolutely nuts.
  • Fixed an issue where the Windows Taskbar icon could display incorrectly.
  • Fixed an issue where the match kill limit wouldn't display correctly when using the Cycle game mode.
  • Fixed a bunch of issues on BunkerTown to reduce the amount assets 'pop' on view distance threshholds.
  • Fixed an issue where purchasing the 'BillyBigStick' perk in Balls From Hell wouldn't immedately apply the weapon scaling to the equiped weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where some zombie abilities wouldn't display their activation particle effects.
  • Fixed an issue where players could sometimes kill themselves with melee swings.
  • Fixed issues around zombie flying enemies and how they would incorrectly teleport around the map.
  • Fixed an issue where you could purchase the 'Second Birthday' perk twice in a row, causing you to have the first known instance of a double birthday!

MEANWHILE, IN BALL OF DUTY...
Today drops a major game update that completely overhauls the Bot systems in the game, adds many quality-of-life improvements, and sprinkles some bug fixes ontop too! How delightful!

The main talking point this update is about how we've changed those baby-bot-balls you could beat with one hand into big-balled-bastards that deliver you pain! (But only if you ask them to by cranking the difficulty up ;) ).

BOT IMPROVEMENTS
  • A massive overhaul of the PvP Bot system. The logic for how they target, how they move around the levels, and how they engage enemies in battle have all been completely rewritten.
  • Bot IQ (difficulties) have been reworked and rebalanced to cater for a much wider range of skill levels of players and provide an intense (read: unfair) challenge on the higher difficulties. ;)
  • All maps have been optimised greatly for Bot navigation; dramatically improving how the Bots precieve and traverse the level.
  • Bots now use skills and equipment! - This makes them waaay more dynamic (and difficult) to fight against.
  • Bots can now make use of all customisation items from the hat, eyes, and melee weapon categories.
  • Bots can now use all projectile weapon times! (Like the Grenade Launcher, Ray Gun, and more!)
  • Bots now use Countyball names in non-team Game Modes.
  • Ranged Bots now use logic bespoke that dictates their engagement rules for each weapon.
  • Melee Bots have their own logic rules so they behave differently to the Ranged Bots.
  • Melee Bots can now swing at enemies whilst they approach instead of just after they make physical contact. (Nathon_VI :) )
  • Bots no longer instantly snap to look at their targets, they now instead refocus their view more naturally.
  • Bots now prioritize their targets based on distance and who is attacking them.
  • Bots no longer have perfect 360 degree vision (meaning you can now sneak up on them from behind).
  • Many issues around Bots stalling or getting stuck have been cleaned up.
  • The Bot IQ "Hacker" now uses ranged weapons on Bats n Balls (for the people that really like pain).

TWEAKS

  • When you get murdered in PvP, your death camera now looks at and watches the player that killed you. (Now you can creep on your murderer, neat!)
  • The Landmine skill has been re-invented to have 'dummy' properties and act like a trap. Meaning at a distance it now looks like a pickup. Have fun baiting your enemies!
  • Winter Valley has now been reinstated as it's own hostable map.
  • Using a spring now resets your double jump. Enabling you to double jump after using a spring after already double jumping!
  • Host screen map tile images updated to be prettier and prepped from some upcoming maps. (More on this soon ;) )
  • Added a Bot difficulty readout to the Scoreboard.
  • Added an icon to indicate Shuffle Mode on the Scoreboard.
  • Added the current map name to the Scoreboard.
  • Added an icon to indicate Shuffle Mode on the Lobby.
  • Scoreboard now stays populated until Pinata Mode starts so you have more time to check it when the match ends.
  • Added sound effects to HUD Level Up overlay.
  • Improved the Pinata stomp animation so it feels stompier.
  • Added a particle shockwave to Pinata stomp so it looks stompier too.
  • Oh, and added a few extra sounds to the Pinata stomp so it sounds stompier!
  • Christmas Golden Pinatas are now a permanent addition to the game - has a 1 in 10 chance to spawn instead of a regular Pinata at the end of a match.
  • Added a few extra teams to the pool of teams that appear in Team PvP modes.
  • Add a sound for when you use the Landmine skill.
  • Moved the Discord Community button around in the menus so it appears where players search for matches.
  • Added better ambient map audio for Winter Valley
  • To stop block spamming there is now a short delay after blocking before you are able to block again.
  • Updated the props around the army tower in the Grotto map to stop the cheese camping.
  • Increased the radius damage of the Grenade Launcher and made it so a direct hit is an instant kill on default Bot difficulty.
  • The plane from the Meme Airlines skill now spawns and travels from the direction the player is facing when it is activated.
  • Added a sound to the Ready Up button inside the Balls From Hell lobby as it was missing previously. Whoops.
  • Increased the amount of screen smearing caused when a player is hit with Poop skill. Now more a bit more like a Flushbang! thinking about it now, maybe we should increase it further and actually call it that...
  • Added extra text to the Bats n Balls match intro animation to remind players that they can block and use alternate swings if they attack whilst holding the alt key!
  • Updated the way melee hit detection was calculated so you can no longer block a player stabbing you in the back.
FIXES
Fixed embarassing parts of the game that crashed, broke, or otherwise looked balls!
  • Fixed an issue that could stop Spectator Mode being activated in PvP game modes.
  • Fixed an issue where you could see other player's snow particles around them in snow maps. You now correctly only see your own, furthering the illusion that it is snowing and that snow is real.
  • Fixed an issue where Bot flags sometimes weren't correct for client players.
  • Fixed an issue where Bots could sometimes display with incorrect names.
  • Fixed an issue where Team Poland could display with the wrong flag in Team Game Modes.
  • Fixed an issue where illegal Bots could spawn if non host players left a match when Bots were turned off.
  • Fixed an issue where Teams could sometimes have unbalanced member numbers when players joined/left the match.
  • Fixed an issue where the loadout prompt was missing from HUD death overlay.
  • Fixed an issue where the upcoming XP level names could be out of sync with the rank names that were actually awarded when levelling.
  • Fixed an issue where other player nametags wouldn't appear for non-host players.
  • Fixed an issue where you could open up the Tree Gate inside Grotto map from the hillside - meaning previously it was incorrectly only one way.
  • Fixed an issue where the castle overhang area on Grotto wasn't counted in the Nav mesh so the Zombies couldn't gobble you if you stood there.
  • Fixed an issue where the Lava Upgrade decal on Grotto wasn't displaying as intended.

  • Fixed a bunch of collision holes in Winter Valley so you can't (read: is harder to) get out of the level bounds. (Thanks Nathon VI)
  • Fixed an issue where the game could sometimes crash then Winter Valley won the post-game vote.
  • Fixed an issue where the snow trail wasn't correctly sized to the player mesh.
  • Fixed an issue with player names wrapping incorrectly in the chat feed in sent messages.
  • Fixed an issue where the player corpse could snap to a random location on death in Balls From Hell.
  • Fixed a bunch of issues around Achievements unlocking, e.g. World Class Privates.
  • Fixed an issue where melee swings were not registering correctly on other characters if the swing collided with certain props before striking the target player. Meaning previously it wouldn't register as you hitting them when you did! This should make fights on stairs waaay better!

Another big-balled update for ya just-in-time for the holiday break! It's got so much in it, like a new hacker game mode, unlockable weapon skins, poo leaderboards, a snow map, aaaaand an evil Santa that hunts down you and your dreams! What a delight!



New Features
A new experimental game mode launches today: Hacker Mode. This lets you fine tune your ball-stomping experience to match your own definition of 'weird and wonderful' through host settings like: Infinite Ammo, Instant Skill Cooldowns, Low Gravity, Flying Mode, and more! It's a chaotic mess that's just a joy to see, but don't take our word for it, here's what members of the community had to say about it in a recent playtest:

The Valley map has become a frozen hellscape for the holiday season - complete with snow trails and Santa boss! Kill Santa and ruin Christmas for loot! (This snow map variant will become a permanent map option in a future update)



We've added Steam leaderboards to the game! Tracking the important things in life like the number of times you've pooped on another player, and the number of times you've been pooped on! Aaaand I guess kills n deaths if you're into that sort of thing. Check 'em out below:

New weapon skins for the primary and secondary weapons! Now unlockable like any other customisation item. (Pinata, Santa, Zombie Bosses, and the first kill of each map) Great weapon skins like: Ice, Flesh, Poop, Ghost, Gold, and Lava! Gotta collect 'em all or something I guess.

New bot difficulty where they fly, are super stronk and generally a pain in the balls.
Added version 1 of the First Person view mode; Pressing C when in-game will toggle between First and Third Person views.

Tweaks
  • For the holiday season all maps have snow particles turned on around the players.
  • Customisation drops are now based on the inventory of the player that picked them up - meaning you no longer get useless duplicate items.
  • Reworked many of skills so they work with the new skill-spammy hacker mode.
  • Massive optimisation of skill management across all Multiplayer modes.
  • Call The Cops now spawns further away from the player to stop them blocking the player that used them.
  • Hotdog Cannon now spawns further away from the player to stop you getting stuck inside the cannon.
  • Updated the visuals of the Hotdog Cannon mesh to be less crappy - but still crappy.
  • Made the Pinata in Hacker Mode golden with better loop drop chances.
  • Using the Slavic Disco skill whilst in the disco now returns you to the map as if you jumped into the toilet exit.
  • Reworked net code of the projectile system ready for a future update to make them smoother.

Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where the skill icons in the HUD could get mismatched to your selection in the Loadout screen.
  • Fixed an issue where Russian Vodka could get stuck onscreen resulting in permanent communism.
  • The Fart skill is now less performance intensive to use.
  • The Meme Airlines skill is now less performance intensive to use - especially when the planes overlap.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes you would spawn with skills that couldn't be used.
  • Fixed an issue where pressing the Enter key wouldn't open the chat.
  • Fixed an issue where the mode descriptions didn't have the correct type casing.
  • Fixed an issue where the particle effects from the Rush B skill wouldn't deactivate.
  • Fixed an issue where the particle effects from the Vampire skill wouldn't deactivate and could lag the game.
  • Fixed a spacing issue with the UI in the Lobby screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the Perk pickup on Rooftops would sometimes only give you the Big Balls effect.
  • Fixed an issue where the Leap Jump skill would accumulate speed boosts and you could get infinite speed power.
  • Fixed some issues around achievement unlocking
  • Fixed an issue where you could be locked out from the post-match map vote if you had the Pause menu open whilst it transitioned.
  • Fixed an issue with the grenade launcher projectile not lining up with the direction for clients.
  • Fixed an issue with the grenade launcher projectile trail not always displaying as the velocity wasn't always getting set.
  • Fixed an issue with the Map Vote screen displaying the incorrect map before it recieved any votes.
  • Fixed some more kill volume locations on Rooftops so escape artist Nathon_VI can't escape anymore (Probably).

New Features
  • Canary Islands Ball has entered the game. ~Requested by people like "canarias caffe's"
  • Five new achievements! This marks the start of us kitting out the game with achievements, and this is where we want to get YOU involved! Yes, YOU RIGHT THERE! To accompany each achievement will be a community drawn image. The first five you see right now were created by the lovely "Mr.Abdlerahman". Maybe some of the next five could be drawn by YOU ;).

  • Fixed a couple issues around melee input registration - previously when you used alternate swing types it would sometimes repeat alternate swings why trying to swing normally.

  • Fixed an issue where throwables would be naughty and get 'sticky' with props in BunkerTown. This is no longer allowed.
  • Fixed an issue where the pre-game lobby sometimes wouldn't fade correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where Spectator Mode wouldn't work in PVP game modes.
  • Fixed an extra super important issue where there was a line missing in the UI! *Phew* Game should be playable now at least.
  • Fixed an issue where the Zombie Shitcoin value in the scoreboardwouldn't update for some actions in Co-Op.
  • Fixed an issue where dying with the Zombie Gate Purchase prompt visible would get it stuck on when respawning.
  • Hopefully fixed an issue where players ("Nathon_VI" :D) with high pings could get through the killfloor on maps. 'Hopefully' because I don't know how to test this.

Hello again Ball of Duty fans,

It's spooktober and Halloween is nearly upon us, which means it is time to release our ballsiest and spookiest update yet. We've been working mega-overtime on this one for many many moons and have had a lot of fun getting it ready for your grubby lil hands.

Alright alright, so what actually is it? ENDLESS ZOMBIE MODE that's what. Oh, and you can play up to four players in online Co-op!

It's a brand new way to play in Countryballs: Modern Ballfare! Journey to the dankest depths of hell alone or with your friends, mow down endless waves of the undead horde, explore and unlock areas of the map to find new weapon upgrades and perks, and finally prepare your balls for a good ol' boss battle for good ol' fashion loot! Does that sound awesome? Well it should, because IT IS!





We also fixed and changed a few other small things whilst we were here too, check em out:

Tweaks
Map tiles in the Host screen now order based on mode avilability.
Changed the names of the Political-Negotiation teams to have a bit more flavour.
Renamed 'Iron Balls' to 'Balls of Steel' because ya know, it is better. Thanks Srebrny!

Well Hello There Balls and Girls!
Welcome to the latest for Countryballs: Modern Ballfare! In this update we wanted to focus on improving what the nerds call 'game feel'. This is us revisiting mechanics and systems that weren't quite up to the quality level we were happy with and to bring them more in-line with a game that is working its way out of Early Access.

So, basically, this will mean the game feels a little bit tighter, a little bit more satisfying, and a lotta-bit more awesome! Everything from animations and fine gameplay details to network performance and perfecting that right colour of brown for the throwable poop - you are welcome ;)

New Features:
  • Our first historic flags! You can now dress your balls up as the: Soviet Union, Roman Empire, Holy Roman Empire, Kaiserreich Germany, Prussia, Byzantine Empire.
  • Version 2.0 for the Bot AI is out! Now with improved pathing, performance, and attack logic. (Psst, they also use melee weapons for the Bats n Balls Game Mode!)
  • There is now a multi-kill system, so it'll make you feel even more like a chad getting those double kills!
  • Starting your own match is now easier and simpler to understand with the revised game setup flow.
  • There are now session intro animations that explain the current game mode after the lobby!
  • We remade the Crosshair and Hit Marker system from the ground up! There is now reticle spread when firing, indicators for blocking melee or having your melee blocked by another player, aaaaaand when returning projectiles! All the animations in this area have been improved to be more juicy.
Tweaks:
  • Removed the hidden Zombie screen from the Main Menu in preparation for the full mode coming soon ;)
  • Tweaked the spread of all weapons.
  • Enabled Scoreboard, Text Chat, Pause Menu, and Loadout in Pinata Mode.
  • Changed the text chat to display player names instead of Country names - whilst it was funny at the start it got kinda annoying :D.
  • Improved the visuals of the Killfeed display.
  • Changed the layout of UI toggles to be easier to use.
  • Kills made by your Police now count to your kill total! (For Srebrny)
  • Added an exit sign above the exit in the Slavic Disco.
  • Removed the input binding for the PauseMenu from > key.
  • Added input readout for Spectator Mode to the Input Screen.
  • Added Game Mode descriptions to the Host and Server Browser screens.
  • Tweaked the UI icons for the server browser to be clearer and match the new Game Mode screen icons.
  • Removed the region select toggle from the Server Browser as it isn't functional yet.
  • Reblanaced the Bot use of the Chainmask weapon so it was less punishing.
  • Made 10 minutes the default time option for sessions.
  • Made 12 players the default player count for sessions.
  • Made Bot full fill be the default for hosting sessions.
  • Made it a little easier to get the Sniper in Bunkertown.
  • Lowered the speed boost by the Deus Volt skill by 30%
  • Changed spawns in Bunkertown that were too close to obstacles causing navigation issues on spawn.
  • Tweaked projectile hit-back radius per weapon so it is easier to hit back at your enemies with melee swings! Batter up!
  • Tweaked some prop positions in Rooftops for better player pathing.
  • Removed the Ninja Rope skill... for now :D
Fixes:
  • Fixed issues where the Bots liked to path to the edge of Valley too much and could get stuck.
  • Fixed issues where the Bots didn't roam around enough in Bunkertown.
  • Fixed an issue in which friendly Bot names would appear red like enemies.
  • Fixed an issue where Bots could spawn in Pinata mode if a player left during Pinata Mode.
  • Fixed an issue where Bots could survive the transition into Pinata Mode.
  • Fixed an issue where the Bot difficulty sometimes wasn't respected from the Host screen.
  • Fixed an issue where Bot health would sometimes be higher than it was supposed to be.
  • Fixed an issue where friendly Police would attack friendly Bots!
  • Fixed an issue where the jetpack skill activation wasn't smooth for client players.
  • Fixed an issue where friendly Bots would attack friendly Police!
  • Fixed an issue where the jump pad wasn't smooth for client players.
  • Fixed an issue where Bots would instantly disappear when they were replaced by a player instead of correctly exploding.
  • Fixed an issue where you got stuck rolling if you opened the Loadout or PauseMenu whilst rolling.
  • Fixed an issue where the melee hit box could get stuck on which could make you a melee god.
  • Fixed an issue where the order of weapons in the mouse wheel weapon switching wasn't preserved.
  • Fixed an issue where the Raygun and Pulse Rifle didn't show HitMarkers when hitting an enemy.
  • Fixed an issue that awarded the player XP for killing Police.
  • Fixed an issue that added Police kills to your total.
  • Fixed an issue where Police killing each other would appear on the killfeed.
  • Fixed a floating rock near spawns in Valley.
  • Fixed an issue where you couldn't see your own eyes when double jumping.
  • Fixed an issue where the birds in Valley where stuck and wouldn't move.
  • Fixed issues around incorrect flag colours, including: Botswana, Nicaragua, Somalia.
  • Fixed an issue where the reloading animations on the HUD didn't display fully.
  • Fixed an issue where firing the last shot in a weapons magazine wouldn't play the weapon recoil mesh animation.
  • Fixed some issues where you could fall through the map in the sewer tunnels in BunkerTown.
  • Fixed an issue where using the Volt and Viking skills at the same time would stomp over your melee weapon when the skill ended.
  • Fixed some issues where you could sometimes spawn in a broken spectator state on fresh maps after Pinata Mode.
  • Fixed an issue where you could use the Bomb Belt skill during Spawn Protection and the skill would become disabled.
  • Fixed an issue where using the Spitfire skill wouldn't correctly return your HUD when the skill ended.
  • Fixed an issue where you could get stuck in the Slavic Disco if you entered it whilst you were a Big Ball.
  • Fixed an issue where the big flashing poles on Rooftops didn't have collisions and you could hide inside as a Small Ball.
  • Fixed an issue where the end-match M.V.P would clip through the map if you were in the Slavic Disco when it was triggered.
  • Fixed an issue where the battle music would sometimes be cancelled by other players using the Slavic Disco and Russian Vodka skills.
  • Fixed an issue where the health scaling on the HUD wouldn't display the correct amount of health.
  • Fixed an issue where you could get hitmarkers in the Crosshair when hitting non-player objects.
  • Fixed an issue where menu buttons could get stuck in their highlighted state.
  • Fixed an issue where menu arrows could get stuck in their enlarged state.
  • Fixed an issue where the church bell tower in Bunkertown had a mesh with stretched UVs
  • Fixed some floating grass on Valley.
  • Fixed some issues with the chosen match kill limit wasn't respected when in a match and could end early.
  • Fixed a whole bunch of issues around the server names and their representations in the UI.
  • aaaaaand lastly hopefully fixed crash dump files getting generated locally so they can be sent directly to our faces for fixing!

Hello There Ballstars!

We have been very hard at work over the last few weeks going through the game's systems to make it perform better for you all! Not only that, but we have a couple neat new features too. Check out the details for patch v1.1.0 below:

New Features:
Bot A.I. Version 1 is finally out! You can fill up your matches with bot enemies to fight until they get replaced by players as they join. Choose their difficulty and bully them right now in Free-For-Ball and Political-Negotiation game modes! (Bats n Balls AI coming in Version 2)
There is now ambient battle music playing in the background as you, well, battle.
Added a work-in-progress player spray system - press X to dump a temporary placeholder spray onto the map!

Tweaks:
Network Optimization: Enormous amount of work and effort basically redoing all the network functions so they are more optimised!
Performance: Reworked assets in all three maps to be better on the ol' performance.
Reworked the terrain in Valley so it has cute little bases at the edges.
Added more collision blocking to the edges of all the maps to fill those pesky holes and stop Nathon_VI getting out, hopefully anyway :smile:
Added hosting buttons to searching screens to push players towards hosting their own matches.
Reduced the number of squirrels in Valley as they were being too randy and it was affecting performance.
Removed the LAN option from Hosting as it isn't working correctly... yet.
Removed the LAN option from the Server Browser for the same reason... yet.

Fixes:
Widened the spacing in the Killfeed to larger names can appear
Cleaned up some older video files that were hanging out in the deploy folders
Fixed up some level streaming issues in BunkerTown
Fixed an issue where the Spitfire skill could sometimes completely remove the HUD
Fixed some strange floating grass placement in Valley

Our last patch introduced a "situation" in which the police A.I. took over the server like Smith in the Matrix. We fixed that now and added several other things:

- Server ping is now displayed
- Added "Cycle All" to host games with shuffled game modes
- Performance increases
