As revealed during Microsoft’s Inside Xbox show, Codemasters is delighted to announce DIRT 5, coming October 2020 via Steam.

Whilst respecting the heritage and retaining the DNA of the franchise, DIRT 5 writes a new chapter in the legacy of DIRT – bolder and braver than ever before. Check out the official announce trailer, soundtracked by the superb ‘Time to Dance (Sebastian Remix)’ by The Shoes.

TRAILER

DIRT 5 is more than relentless rallying, more than suspension-shaking jumps, more than hairpins and handbrakes. Join an energised world of off-road racing, and be part of a vibe that delivers big on epic action, pure expression, and unbridled style.

Dive into the ambitious Career mode, which lets you choose your path to glory as you progress through an immersive journey. The narrative features a voice cast led by the legendary Troy Baker and Nolan North, partnered by the car culture heroes at Donut Media and more famous names from the automotive world. Make your unique mark and overcome all obstacles to ensure nobody ever forgets your name.

Play together in Career and offline modes with split-screen for up to four players, making DIRT 5 the ultimate playground for you to throw down, trade paint and get really sideways with your friends, either online or on the couch.

Looking for a fresh way to be playful on four wheels? Take the fun to a global scene, with traditional race events and innovative modes that’ll have you hooning for miles and grinning from ear to ear. But that’s far from all it when it comes to ways to play DIRT 5. Look out for the reveal of a new mode later this year – something you have never seen before from the DIRT franchise.

Travel the world to conquer over 70 routes from locations spanning the entire globe, that turn real landmarks into racetracks – from the frozen East River in New York, to the marble mines of Italy, to the Favelas of Brazil. Defy dynamic weather conditions, intimidating terrain and unpredictable elements in eight different race types, covering gravel, snow, mud, ice and more surfaces in between.

Your ride of choice? Choose from a ferocious car roster that includes machines purpose-built for off-road dominance – and a few you’ll be less used to seeing off the beaten track. Our first trailer gives you a first glimpse at what you’ll take the wheel of, from extreme machines like the Ariel Nomad, to racing icons like the Lancia Stratos and modern off-road masters like the Citroen C3 R5.

Oh, and each car will be visually customisable through DIRT 5’s nuanced livery editor, with more editing options than any previous DIRT game. Once you’re done designing, snap your greatest moments with a dedicated Photo Mode, capturing ever jump, scrape and slide.

It’s all set in that amplified off-road world, dripping in style and giving license for you to express yourself, on and off the track. With a backdrop of infectious atmosphere and an unforgettable soundtrack, everything you do in DIRT 5 adds to the vibe. So, what will you bring to the table?

Be the focus. Be recognised. Be the one to take iconic environments, dangerous terrain and incredible vehicles, and turn them into highlight-reel moments. That’s what DIRT 5 is all about. Time to make it what you’re all about, too.

You can Wishlist and Pre-Order DIRT 5 now by heading to the Steam Page. Join the conversation and engage with the DIRT 5 team right now through the game’s official Discord server. Of course, follow the DIRT channels on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, where we’ll be showing you so much more of the game in the coming weeks and months – from feature deep-dives, to art concepts, to peeling back the curtain on DIRT 5’s creation.

Hi all,

First up I want to say sorry for just how long it has taken to move DiRT 3 to Steamworks and I would also like to thank you all for keeping up the pressure on us to move it over. Every day I have over a hundred notifications on my Steam account, there are threads thousands of comments deep about it and countless Tweets and Facebook messages - while you’d think it would be the kind of thing that would bug the hell out of me, you’d be wrong.

It just goes to show that you guys love DiRT and care about it a lot; I’m hoping you’ll bring that passion with you for where we’re going next...

...Anyway before I get into trouble, I’m pleased to announce that DiRT 3 is now available with 100% less Games for Windows Live.

Store Page Link

As a thank you for your patience over this last year we’ll be upgrading everybody who owns DiRT 3 to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition, which will include all of our DLC for no extra cost.

If you currently have the GFWL version of DiRT 3 in your Steam Library you should now also have access to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition which should already be there in your list of owned games. To play it simply select it from your library and click install.

However if you own a boxed PC copy of DiRT 3 or have a Games For Window Live CD Key you can now activate that CD key on Steam.

To do so simply follow the below steps:
  • Load up your Steam Client
  • Click “Add a game” found in the bottom left of the window
  • Click “Activate a product on Steam”
  • Click “Next”
  • Follow the instructions and when asked enter your CD Key into the “Product Code” box (be sure to use CAPS and include the hyphens)
  • Hit “Next”
  • Your code will then be verified and the DiRT 3 Complete Edition will be added to your library
  • And you’re good to go!
Those who originally purchased the game via Steam will notice that the now old GFWL version of DiRT 3 will still be in your library. You will still be able to play this version but it will still include Games for Windows Live and you won’t have access to the Complete Edition content – nothing will have changed with that older version.

Due to the differences with the two versions unfortunately your save files will not be compatible with each other. We know it sucks and we are sorry but it was unavoidable.

As an added bonus if you also happen to own a Mac you will now have access to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition via Steam on that too.

And of-course we’ve also included a set of Steam Trading cards for you to collect and added all of the original DiRT 3 achievements.

Finally thank you again for sticking with us and a big thank you to the rather awesome people at Feral Interactive who helped us with the work.

Keep it lit.

Greetings DiRT 3 Steam players,

Just wanted to let you know the new look Codemasters Forums are now live.

If you happened to be a member in the past you should be able to login using the same Codemasters Account details you used on the old forum and you'll find the login/register button in the top right of your screen (These will be the same as the details you use to login to RaceNet). Your username should be automatically pulled in but if you don't have a Codemasters/RaceNet account don't worry, setting one up is free and just takes a few moments.

That’s pretty much all you need to know to get you up and running, if you are having any problems at all just let me know either on here or Twitter.

Once you are logged in click your username at the top of the screen to visit your profile, from here you’ll be able to upload your avatar which will be used across the whole of the forum. Over on the right of this page you’ll find the edit profile button where you’ll be able to add details like your website, Twitter username, Steam ID, PSN ID or Gamertag.

While you are on the edit profile page be sure to have a good look at all the settings and the notification page, we have pop up and email options for almost everything that happens on the forum so and you can customise pretty much everything to suit your taste.

So take a look around, let me know what you think, it would be great to get some of you guys on the new boards but don't worry I'll be dropping by Steam daily still and I have been reading the GFWL and the New Game Suggestions posts even if I have been a little quiet of late :)

Greetings all,

I'm Lee your friendly neighborhood community manager, I will admit to being a total lurker here on the Steam forums and I wanted to thank everybody who regularly helps out the other users with their problems. I figured it's time I was a little more active on here though and I wanted to clear up some of your frequently asked questions.

Whats The Deal With Games For Windows Live?
We are working on removing Games For Windows Live from DiRT 3 and when the work is finished we'll be pushing an update via Steam and you will all be upgraded free of charge. I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know when that work will be complete but I will let you know as soon as I do.

I Have a Boxed Copy of DiRT 3 - What about me?
The current plan is to allow anybody who has a boxed copy of DiRT 3 to redeem their CD key via Steam which will add DiRT 3 to your Steam library - there is a chance the process of how you get your copy might change and we're working with Valve to make sure it's as painless as possible.

Why Can't I Download The DLC?
Because the GFWL market place is currently shut down unfortunately you can't purchase or download the DLC for DiRT 3, we will be making the DLC available on Steam when the Steamworks version of the game is available.

WTF! My Game Won't Start
Some users do have trouble starting the game, this seems to be an install/GFWL issue. Try downloading and installing the GFWL client manually and it should work fine Link

How Can I Contact You?
You can obviously contact me here on the Steam Forums or on Twitter I'm not going to be much use for technical questions in 140 characters so if you are having problems with the game it would be best to contact custserv@codemasters.com, let them know as much as you can about the problem and your rig set up and they will do their best to help. If you want to keep up with what the DiRT team are currently up to then you can follow DiRT on Twitter and Facebook and the CodiesBlog

I'm pretty sure that's the major questions that come up answered, I'll keep this first post updated with any others that crop up

We've recently released the first patch for DiRT 3, and if you don't have the patch already then the game should auto-update the next time you try to run it.

The following issues have been addressed by this patch:

• Time of day and weather options are now correctly saved within Jam Session save/restore slots.

• Fixed an occasional loading screen hang which could leave the player with a black screen.

• Fixed a soft lock when removing the Ethernet cable on some screens during a LAN session.

• Battersea Compound – Parking Lot environment updated to ensure that smash blocks are always present.

• Resolved specific instances of the player being able to drive into areas of crowd.

• Corrected a rare issue with online staggered start team events which could lead to incorrect team scoring.

• Fixed a very rare physics issue which could lead to the player’s vehicle falling through the world.

• Fixed two graphics issues which could lead to a crash when changing resolution or resizing the windowed game to a height of 0 pixels.

• Resolved an issue preventing Player 2 from re-binding their controls if using a keyboard within a split-screen event.

• Fixed an issue which, in specific circumstances, could lead to a spectator seeing incorrect progress during a multiplayer Transporter event.

• Minor corrections to track boundary and reset lines.

• Fixed an issue which will occasionally cause the green ‘infected’ effect to be applied to the player’s car during loading between Outbreak events.

• ‘World Record’ and ‘Personal Best’ symbols now correctly appear within all circuit-based time trial events.

• Correction to particle behaviour during high speed collisions, avoiding any instances of them spawning in the wrong direction.

• Minor finish line adjustments to avoid the possibility of bypassing them in some routes.

• Fixed an issue which lead to the driver’s hands clipping when in the interior camera ‘brace’ position.

• Resolved an issue which would occasionally prevent the ‘World Tour’ tetras from spinning within the front end.

• Resolved an issue which could lead to some vehicle cards flickering within the front end vehicle select screens.

• Adjusted a small number of text references and menu options for the ‘VIP Pack’, which should be referred to as the ‘Free Car Pack’ for PC.

• Various stability fixes.
