Chaos 2.0 is back in development!
You might find it hard to believe, but a few days ago we announced on Discord that we've been working away on Chaos in secret for a month, what have we been doing in this time, I can tell you partially.

Current Chaos is kind of a funny game from my perspective. Initially designed as a means for me to explore the game development world with little experience, Chaos quickly erupted in players and gained a sudden newfound significance, and since release has developed itself a very strong community.

In light of the current state of Chaos's messy and amateur code, we decided that if we were gonna make Chaos 2.0 with all the things we promised, we better start from scratch!

For most of 2020, I was working on my own projects and was struggling to find something that worked. It was around new years when the team and I decided we should start working on Chaos again since we knew that concept was a gold mine of opportunity.

Development is going strong right now. I can't tell you what Rysterstuffs has been working on due to its Top-secret nature, but its codename is Octane. Octane will change Chaos as you know it, and we're really excited to reveal it in all its glory in an in-depth youtube video.
My development has been focusing on re-creating core mechanics. I've also been making the many systems run a lot cleaner and more efficient, as well as many improvements to networking. Currently, we're not ready to show any gameplay yet since everything is in a test environment with placeholder assets, but as soon as we've got a functional level and some more models, we'll show you. The game right now is playable but very basic.

To remind you of what we promised originally for 2.0, we're doing full-body animations to make the game feel so much smoother, we're working on a skin system to be added to the game, so you can either grind for them or help us out with a donation for special skins. Since this is a ground-up rework, nothing is familiar, however, we are working hard to keep that signature style.

Hey Chaos Players, this update is rather small, but we're not wanting to leave the game broken for an extended period while we work on 2.0!

Today's update is bug fixes, we can't name most of them, but they're there, you'll be especially happy to know the exit button works! Also located a few issues with multiplayer things sending too much data etc, but that's about it, Ryster redid sliding, and now you keep the speed you entered with, AND you slide whichever direct you had momentum in, also ground slam has been disabled.

In essence, 2.0 will be a new season, with the following planned content:

This will take approximately 2-3 months, in the meantime, the game will be in a polished state, with maybe a map or two released, on the side.

Onto the update, sorry for the lack of maps this week, we're going through a phase where we're developing our mapping tools, and aren't quite ready to use them yet, but we hope we made up for it in two new guns!
