Pedestrian-gibbing racer Carmageddon: Reincarnation [official site] may have launched out of Early Access in May, but developers Stainless kept on patching and updating away. Following two big patches considerably boosting performance, they’ve now dropped another adding two new cars, a new way to wreck cars, and other odds and ends for Chrimbo. Heinz Faust has returned once more with a new terrifying vehicle on tank tracks, the Blitzkrieger, as you can see in this here video:

I have a soft spot for Carmageddon and I fear that the Kickstarted Reincarnation [official site] is going to steamroll over that soft spot and turn it into a gloopy red mess at the side of the road. After a prolonged stint as an Early Access title, Stainless Games’ rebooted Deathracer launched yesterday. I’ve only played briefly – although I spent a few hours with earlier versions – and while I’m not hindered by the performance issues that continue to affect many, Reincarnation hasn’t reignited my love for the series. Carmageddon: Reincarnation [official website] is very nearly out of Early Access Beta, which means you can start feverishly throwing together Finish Line puns while I grit my teeth.

When midnight sirens lead to blue flash road mash, stretchers, covered heads, and slippy red maca- wait, wait, I’ll have to rip off Jam> another time. Carmageddon: Reincarnation [official site] was due to wrap up its stretch on Steam Early Access next week and join the glorious ranks of finished games, but it isn’t. Finished or coming out next week, that is. Both.

Developers Stainless Games have announced that they’re pushing the release date back by one month, from April 23rd to May 21st. They need a little more time, they say. Well, you wouldn’t want to launch an unfinished game out of Early Access, would you? I suspect it’s probably also sensible to duck out the way of the redonculously popular new kid on the car murder scene, GTA V.

As Carmageddon: Reincarnation [official site] continues to smash, bash, dash, crash, and splash its way through Early Access, it’s now reached a point where I’m starting to think about picking it up. Developers Stainless Games today launched the death racer’s first beta version, meaning it’s now the whole game with all its modes, cars, and levels, just a little unpolished. Yes, this does include multiplayer. Murdering your pals seems a fair enough way to spend Valentine’s Day.
