Hello!

We are please to announce that we are moving forward with the development, starting from the grounds up, the art!


Ambar Aranel is a powerful mystic who can sense the flows of magic and shape them to his will - either to do harm or protect her friends.


Aran Hathel is a mighty warrior armed with a two-handed weapon and can unleash earth - and bone - shattering blows.


Laurina Thoron is a swift archer who focuses on staying out of harm's way and dealing damage from afar.


Lucas Rochben is a knight who understands that a shield and a sword are one whole weapon and that defense is the best offence.

Howdy?

It's been an incredible year for Capsella The Lights of Lucern and everyone involved on it!

Let's take a look into everything that happened and what is coming into the game!

After several updates and tweaks, we got the first chapter of the game in Early Access!

After playing it, some players left feedback about the gameplay and other aspects of the game, we heard you!

The game will feature a new and simplified technics and items scheme

Technics
  • Technics will be bounded with equipment, meaning you can pick an item that will have a technic you can use (and upgrade) immediately.
  • There will be an offensive technic and one defensive technic, they are found in Orbs and Crystals.
  • There will be a way to change the technic that an Orb or Crystal has, you will need another one with the technic you want and some itens.

Items
  • Monsters now will drop misc items.
  • A new potion system is coming, there will be only one potion that the hero will be holding and you will be able to upgrade it to add new effects and uses.

Equipment now has different grades
  • Standard - Regular items. Gray colored.
  • EX - Extraordinary items, comes with a modification. Green colored.
  • Reinforced - Reinforced items, stronger than standard ones. Blue colored.
  • Reinforced EX - Reinforced items, comes with a modification. Purple colored.
  • Perfect - Reinforced EX items with a perfect roll. Yellow colored.

There will be a roll for the strength of the item, up to 25% of the maximum value.
This means an item can have 100% strength or 75% if bad rolled.

Reinforced items have a 25% strength increase, meaning it can have up to 125% strength value.

EX items are found in dungeons, while Reinforced EX are found in EX dungeons.

Modifications are (for now)
  • Haste - Stamina consumption is reduced.
  • Piercing - Bypasses defense calculation.
  • Loud - Doubles agro generation.
  • Vampiric - Regenerates health based on damage caused.
  • Wide - Deals damage in area.
  • Intense - Adds critical chance and damage.
  • Protective - Adds defense and resistance.
  • Technical - Adds technic damage.
  • Resilient - Adds maximum HP.
  • Thorn - When damage is received, causes damage on the causer.

Equipment will be able to receive more power by these methods
  • Enhancement - Increases the item level by 1 per enhancement, each equipment has it's own limit of enhancement.
  • Upgrade - Increases the final strength value of the equipment by a %.

You will be able to enhance items by using an item called "Magic Enhancer", found during the game by monster drops and chests.
Upgrades will require Magic Dust and some items, but failed attempts will not break or lose the item being upgraded.

The gameplay is simpler and faster!
  • Up to two technics will equipped at the same time, depending on the Orb and Crystal equipped.
  • Potions now have a limited use and will be always carried by the heroes, you can upgrade these potions to add new effects and more uses.
  • En Garde mechanic added, a quicker way to target lock on enemies and properly aim.
  • AI companions will be added while playing local sessions, controlling the other heroes that are not in player control.
  • Mouse and keyboard enabled and properly tweaked!

Online mode is coming!
  • Play with your friends on Steam! No strangers allowed, invite and play together with up to 3 other friends!
  • The host will be the player defining the game state and level limit, meaning stronger friends will have their level reduced and weaker ones will have their level increased!
  • Rewards will be sent to everyone for playing together during online sessions!
  • Repeated heroes will be allowed, but keep in mind that it may lack balance, increasing the game difficulty!

State of the Development
  • We are currently in advanced negotiations with Natsume-Atari to be published and co-develop the game.
  • We are doing the best we can to bring the new version as soon as possible, the game has been completely reworked and improved.
  • New models for the heroes! When equipping Orbs and Crystals, the visual of the hero will change!
  • We are reshaping how the story is told and better conducing the game pace, the gameplay will also be better explained during the first few minutes of the game.
  • There are several visual improvements, you will notice when playing the new version!
  • New version should be arriving early 2020, a lot is coming!

In order to keep the game development going, we will be announcing a Patreon campaign soon and also raise the price point of the game once the new version is live. More news to come.

Hello!

This is the last update of the month!

- Added a new cinematic for the internal area of the Sanctuary.
- Heroes can be ressurrected now in multiplayer sessions, you just need to get closer to a fainted hero and wait for it.
- Fixed an issue where Laurina would not come out of the "Camouflage" technic.
- Added proper energy spheres effects in cinematics and tweaked it for performance during game.
- Polished rain fog visual effects.
- Tweaked post process values. The game should be darker now.
- Fixes in transitions from "Fainted" animation to normal movement.

A new update is up!

Fixes and Updates

- Battle theme now is better handled, fixing some issues where it would start at wrong times and play the stinger.
- Enemies animation fixed where sometimes when launched it would play the wrong animations during air and when landing.
- Aina Sanctuary inner section floor now properly detects projectiles.
- Fixes in the heroes animation when launched in air.
- Fixed proper aiming for knocked down targets.


Tweaks and Additions

- Boss battle theme added.
- Aran attack speed increased by 50%. Animations are faster, he's more dynamic.
- Technics and attributes icons added. More icons to come.
- Special effects for enemies when defeated added.
- Enemies that carries a weapon now drops them in the world when defeated.


Known Issues

- Heroes ressurrection to be added at the next patch for multiplayer sessions.
- Proper transition to fainted animation on heroes when launched in air.

We're updating the game today!

Here's a list of the changes:

Fixes and Updates

- Engine Versions Updated from 4.20 to 4.22!
- Fixes in Aina Sanctuary Cinematics.
- Fixes in Laurina technic where she would hit herself.
- Fixed Capsella Power activation issues. Unlocks at level 3 and can be activated after the Capsella Bar is full (below HP bar, blue one).


Tweaks and Additions

- Enemy AI improved, detection is greatly improved.
- Cloth simulation added to Feya and Fallen Bishop.
- Laurina now has a VFX when picking an arrow.
- Laurina technic now launches the enemy away.
- Laurina technic now hit in area.
- Fallen Bishop ignores overlap events while underground.
- Fallen Bishop now uses technics more often.
- Fallen Bishop HP improved.
- Added a proper visual effect for the arena limits.


Known issues

- Knocked down enemies are difficult to hit with projectiles. Fix coming on the next patch.

Hello everyone!

We're launching a patch today! Check out the new content by downloading the update!

Additions

- New rooms inside the Aina Sanctuary (3 new areas).
- New cinematic close to the Aina Sanctuary Entrance.
- New level name intro.
- New dialogues during the cinematics, more to come.
- Added new meshes inside the Sanctuary.
- New enemy added, Fallen Bishop.
- Several animations and special effects added.
- New tutorial unlock method. You can find them on the Adventure Log once unlocked.


Tweaks and Optimizations

- Performance tweaks, updates in materials and special effects.
- Technics now unlocks at lower levels (3, 5, 10, 15 and 20).
- Heroes and NPCs lighting updated.
- Tweaks in mini boss, Dur, HP and level. It should be a easier fight now.
- Some teleports now require that you defeat a enemy to work.
- AI tweaked, majority of bugs fixed. We are still improving how it detected enemies.
- Rain effect improved and tweaked to perform better.
- Light spots now react to NPCs presence during cinematics.
- Removed logs during gameplay.


Future Improvements

- Addition of destructible objects in the game, they will drop itens once destroyed.
- Addition of defeated special effects for more enemies and boss.
- Addition of cinematics inside the Aina Sanctuary.
- Performance improvements inside the Sanctuary.
- Addition of new NPCs and lore.
- Addition of save and load feature.
- Addition of upgrade and improvements to weapon and armors.
- Completion of the first chapter of the game.
