I would like to apologise politely to all those who bought CUR3D and for whom the start-up did not work after the installation. I had to search for the error for an uncomfortably long time and now I hope to have found it and finally fixed it.

CUR3D Steam Edition (and soon CUR3D Viewer Steam Edition) is based on the same core as CUR3D (without Steam). This makes development easier for me; but also brings its pitfalls when you have to combine different licensing systems and copy protection. What works wonderfully without Steam in the background, reacts quite differently with Steam (or other portals where I still want to publish CUR3D).

So I had to teach my copy protection to distinguish more clearly between several licensing systems and then fire it more "intelligently".

.New customers should now be able to have CUR3D launched immediately without a second (or even a completely unsuccessful) launch!

Please give CUR3D and me a second chance. I put a lot of effort and love into my work to be able to offer you an uncomplicated, performant and cost-effective 3D printing prepress for the repair of 3D data. I always have an ear for your wishes and problems and will work through them bit by bit.

We're really sorry that we didn't know about the problem for so long! It was only thanks to the great Steam support that we noticed the error and we are working flat out on the bug fix.

Until then, we recommend the following workaround

.If CUR3D displays an empty user interface after starting, please proceed as follows:

1. Please install the free CUR3D Maker Edition demo version https://cur3d.de/shop/cur3d-maker-edition/cur3d-makeredition-demo/ from our website.
   
2. Install the demo version and enter your licence data sent to you by e-mail after the start.
   
3. Now you can close the CUR3D demo version again.
   
4. Now start your purchased CUR3D Steam Edition as usual in Steam.
   [If everything went well, you should now be able to see the entire user interface of the CUR3D Steam Edition.
   

As I said, we are really, really sorry about this. We promise you that there will be a patch in the next few days that will fix the problem for good.

The time has come soon: two professional file formats for 3D CAD will be included in the CUR3D Steam Edition via DLC.

Some people are familiar with the * .step or * .stp and * .iges or * .igs file formats for professional reasons. Both have established themselves well in the areas of architecture and product development, as they support object trees and colors and still remain somewhat editable.

STEP (STandard for the Exchange of Product model data) is a standard for describing product data. In addition to the physical, it also includes functional aspects of a product. STEP is formally defined in ISO standard 10303. Due to the standardization, it is suitable for data exchange between different systems. Product data information for the entire life cycle can be mapped within STEP. It is therefore suitable for many different areas of application or systems such as computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), product data management (PDM), digital mock-up (DMU) and computer-aided engineering (CAE).

The Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES) defines a neutral, manufacturer-independent data format that is used for the digital exchange of information between computer-aided design programs (CAD). The application ranges from traditional, two-dimensional drawings to three-dimensional models for simulations or manufacturing. The data is stored in individual units, the so-called entities. These can be arranged in any hierarchy. The primitives of a drawing or a model (such as lines, curves, surfaces) are represented by different entity types. Since the IGES specification version 5, bodies are also provided. This means that a closed surface association also has the information "inside" and "outside".

CUR3D Steam Edition will soon support both file formats via DLC. With the correct settings, loss-free miniatures and error-free 1: 1 models of the 3D data can be 3D printed.

Perhaps one or the other noticed: RUHRSOURCE GmbH - the company that originally developed CUR3D - had to file for bankruptcy in October 2020. However, we do not let our loyal CUR3D customers down! CUR3D lives and will be further developed by CUR3D UG (limited liability).

At that time, RUHRSOURCE GmbH dedicated itself to simplifying additive manufacturing. The young startup from Bochum succeeded in doing that too. In a very short time they blossomed into a respected service provider for 3D printing. Above all, however, the transfer of knowledge about getting started with and professionalizing 3D printing for everyone was the top priority. The main reason was the release of the CUR3D software in November 2016, which greatly simplifies 3D printing. Since then, every 3D model can be 3D printed in every scale without a lot of technical know-how.

The founders of CUR3D UG (limited liability) adhere to this. From the former developers, the heads of development - Christopher Maiwald (external CTO) and Ernst Christian Fleischmann (CEO) - are still with us.

CUR3D UG (limited liability) has been exclusively responsible for the development and sales of the 3D printing prepress CUR3D since June 2021.

The official sale of version 3.0.2.0 started with resounding success in October 2021.

Unfortunately, we often found in the past that CUR3D was purchased, used extensively and then reimbursed for the purchase price. Thanks to us, these "customers" had a 3D printable 3D model that they probably wouldn't have without us and we went completely empty-handed.

Please don't do that. The development of CUR3D must be financed.

CUR3D 3.0 is more than just a tool to make everything 3D printable in seconds. It sees itself as a link between the maker and the 3D printing service providers.

Because CUR3D 3.0 no longer requires that a maker has a 3D printer at home. Through the integration of selected 3D printing service providers who are convinced of CUR3D and who use it themselves, 3D printable models can be sent directly to a service provider in a few moments so that they can 3D print them.

Well-known 3D printing service providers from all over the world are and will be available in CUR3D 3.0 to assist you with your 3D printing.

For all those who have a 3D print themselves, CUR3D 3.0 has an integrated 3D printing shop.

From this point onwards, CUR3D 3.0 includes the new Media Library (replaces the file browser) and 3D printer profiles provided by the manufacturer.

Did we notice a small bug shortly after the release that Microsoft Defender (or Windows Security) reports. We are extremely sorry! We are dealing with the problem while these lines are being written.
