Merry Christmas, it’s time to hop in a mech and trash a city. For 72 hours, digital games store GOG are giving away Brigador free for keepsies, and it’s well worth grabbing. Brigador’s an isometric shooter about blasting through a futurecity in a variety of customisable mechs and other vehicles, going stealthy if you want or deploying massive munitions if not.

Developers Stellar Jockeys have been teasing that they weren’t quite done with Brigador‘s grim world of future mech-war, and today they announced the next game in the series; Brigador Killers. Details are slim, but going by the game’s BitSummit exhibitor page, it appears to be a direct sequel, due out in “2020”. This time, players control a Solo Nobrean hit squad, on an off-world mission to hunt down some traitors – likely the Brigadors you were playing as last time. Gleeful synthwave mech-warcrime shooter Brigador got just that little bit better today, and it was already good enough to keep me coming back for the occasional spin well over a year from its launch. In what developers Stellar Jockeys are calling the ‘N H o a Tutti’ update (on account of adding Chinese & Italian localisations), the lighting engine has been overhauled, and a bunch of new pilots & vehicles have been added to Freelance mode, along with the option to play completed campaign missions with any loadout you like.

Maybe my perception of time is getting a bit wonky in my old age, but didn’t we just finish Spring Sale season a week or two ago? No matter – cheap games are always in style. My Fiat Punto might not be an armoured, rocket launcher wielding machine of death, mayhem and destruction – but it was unambiguously superior to the vehicles from isometric mech game Brigador in one key respect. Before the latest Brigador update, only my Fiat was capable of alerting everyone nearby to my presence/annoyance with an obnoxious beeping sound. That’s all changed with the the All Saints update, so naturally I’ll be swapping it for an armoured mech as soon as they become road legal in the real world.

Stellar Jockeys have released Brigador: Up-Armored Edition [official site], a “re-launch” of their excellent isometric mech combat game bringing a new campaign, a rebalancing, and graphical upgrades including better explosions. Don’t mind the name: the Up-Armored Edition comes as a free update, not a separate release.

Brigador developers Stellar Jockeys have announced that they’ll “re-launch” the isometric tactical mech action game in June with a big update that’ll add a new intro campaign along with even more vehicles and more. The mysterious village of Brigadoon emerged from the mists over Halloween weekend to receive a series of free content updates. Wait. Brigador [official site]. Brigador the city-smashing stompy mech shooter. The Brigador which Alec’s Wot I Think declared “glorious to behold”. That’s less thematically appropriate for Halloween, but I suppose adding new levels and mechs to Brigador makes more sense than adding deathbots to a Broadway musical. Mech combat game Brigador is out today. It’s a game about mercenary mechs-for-hire causing destruction in an isometric city. I played an early build of it and it had real promise, as aside from looking great its combat supported stealth runs, zippy raids, and straightforward damage dealing. We’ll perhaps have some thoughts on it later, but for now you might want to watch its launch trailer and start listening to its soundtrack.
