Hey there you Vikings and Bosses!

Some of you might have noticed issues when trying to connect to a friend's game.

Recently our third party multiplayer service deployed an emergency update which we need to integrate. This will take at best a few days, but it may go up to a week.

During this time you might be unable to connect to online multiplayer games. This applies to Switch and PS4 versions as well.



you can still play online using Steam Remote Play, Parsec, or a remote desktop streaming service of your choosing.

We apologize for the inconvenience and promise you that we are doing are best to patch Bossgard ASAP.

Hear ye, hear ye, the Steam Awards are yet again upon us! To that end we've set off to do battle for the most important title there is (in-our-honest-opinion) - the "Better with friends" award!

There are plenty of games that you can enjoy by your lonesome, but for Bossgard multiplayer is where it's at! After all, there's nothing like crushing your friends with a giant slice of bread. And there's nothing like being the last man standing in your 5-man Viking team who miraculously revives everybody back into fighting condition, only to see the tide of battle turn to your favor. Glorious.

That's what Bossgard is all about - great tales of even greater heroism! Heroes fighting against all odds, legendary gloating villains that take great pleasure in crushing the meek, that one godly sword slash landed in the nick of time which inevitably wins the match.

Bossgard was designed for this. But hey, maybe Bossgard is a novel concept for you, so here's a breakdown:

By Hel, it's that time of year again! Skeletons rising from their graves, pumpkins making fools of passers by and Edith enjoying every bit of this macabre foolishness, all while reading her favorite book - "The joys of resurrecting your relatives as undying walking corpses", by R.R. Mor'Teen.

But I digress, you're here for the discount, aren't you? Perhaps you've been following us for a bit now, stalking, waiting for that pesky price to lower its guard. Mayhaps it's your first time hearing of Bossgard?

Please, sit down as I tell you the story of Bossgard, a story of 10 Vikings who set off to defeat 6 ridiculously powerful and outright ridiculous monsters.
It's a story of friends who gathered into parties of up to 5 players, where each player embodied a different Norse hero, with unique powers and abilities.

It's a story of terrible titans, also controlled by the players themselves. But not any titans, no. I'm speaking of cyclopean toast, gargantuan plungers and murder robo-pigs. No-one has ever seen the likes of these monsters, for they exist solely in the realm of Bossgard.

A tale of 2v1, 3v1, 4v1 and 5v1 battles, where heroes worked together to bring down the Boss using all manners of powers, pets, turrets and even Undead minions!

People asked questions! Questions like "Can I play this game online?", to which I would answer "Of course!". Some would say "But what if I don't have friends? Can I still play?", to which again I would reply "My dear fellow, of course, we have Bots ready to take you on!"

There are those who would even wonder "Can I play the Boss?". "You sure can" I'd answer with haste. "Both the Vikings and the Bosses are player-controlled".

It's also a story of bloodshed among brothers, terrible Viking vs Viking battles, where players would be split into 2 teams or better yet, each Viking for themsevles in Free-for-All matchups!

So you see, visitor, this is a long story which would surely take up, perhaps, too much of your precious time. To that I say, better you play the game yourself, and better yet, bring friends, for the battles of Bossgard are many and perilous.

The time for joining arms is now, visitor, for jo...yous cooperation awaits, as well as butt-crunching PvP, all with a very large measure of silly humour.

Get ready to scream “res pls”, “gg” and “gl hf” during Bossgard’s epic boss fights. Coordinate with your friends, look for players and make friends using our brand-new chat system!


Chat can be accessed in the Main Menu, Lobby and during the match by pressing “Enter”.

Be warned that there is an anti-spam system that will mute you for 10 seconds if you’re a bit too insistent.

NOTE: There is a profanity filter active, so make sure you play nice! We also ask you to refrain from toxic behavior as undesirable activity might lead to severe punishments, including inventory resets and permanent bans from online activity.

Fixes for Russian and Chinese localization

Alongside the new chat system, we’ve also patched several issues regarding localization for Russian and Chinese, which included missing characters or missing localization all together.

Map Shop!

You can now buy Maps from the customization menu (Vikings and Bosses menus). You’ll notice a new “Maps” tab ingame. Go on and buy Viking travel tickets for new locations!

The Vikings will need all the help they can get in the battle against Olaf of Bread and his fellow Bossses. The beacon has been lit and the Vikings now hopefully await reinforcements from the PS4, which are bound to arrive tomorrow!
