Attention Survivors.
The store page on steam is now hidden. It will become public once we are ready for a full release build on steam. We really appreciate the sudden surge of messages and support.

The reason why we have done this is that quite simply we do not have a set release date for steam, we most likely wont for a while. Like we have said several times we are launching outside of steam Via Humble and our own custom launcher. This means that us being on steam seems to bother some people and we can understand why.

We are still aiming for our testing this year outside of steam. Progress is great and i recommend reading our Development Logs we put out once every two weeks here:

We will make the store page public again eventually when the right time comes as it was my fault for putting the store page up so early.

Hello Everyone!
If you havent already please read the previous post, we recommend you do so before reading this.

As you know we have been working on our own Launcher.



We have good news, everything is on track! We are really happy with the progress being made both in game and on the launcher. But this means we will be stepping away from focusing our updates here. We hope to post weekly updates on our discord and on the launcher news feed.

Currently the team have done alot of the core features of the launcher, they are now currently working on the social features such as the profile pages, friends list, chat ECT.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us with this change off steam, we will return to steam on full release meaning the game will no longer release in early access on steam. We feel like the EA system on steam isnt what we want for our game. We would much rather work closer with the community to build the game the right way.

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the latest update of everything AFTERSHOCK.
We have alot of information to share so lets get started!

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW
We have officially decided to change our name from Focus Studios to BLACKBOX.
This decision came up when deciding the name for our Launcher, FOCUS launcher just didnt sound good. Along with the new name we also have some new names to welcome.

- Dom [Servers/Launcher Team]

BLACKBOX LAUNCHER COMING IN LATE MARCH

If you have backed the game you will be able to recieve the Launcher for the game in Late March (Do note the testing is set for before MID 2018, the launcher is being sent out prior for us to get things ready). This also does confirm some of the rumors going around, the game will not be releasing into early access on steam, it will be released as a full game title on steam once its ready, testing will be reserved to everyone who backs the game, that means we are cutting ties with steam for now, we will not be using their platform just yet. Hello Everyone!

Sorry for the lack of Posts here on Steam, we will be resuming back to updates on average every two weeks starting in Febuary.

We have been discussing with our backers about how we want to handle the games testing. We have come to the conclusion that we will be creating our own launcher which we can produce keys so that they can be activated by our backers exclusively (Much like how EFT system works). This means that if your pre order you will be guarenteed a spot in testing. As for the first testing build that is still a WIP, we will be updating more here on that.

Attention Survivors!
We have been hard at work recently on the game and with the new year coming along fast we want to post one final update for this year (There will of course be frequent updates in 2018 as well).

ESSEKER PROGRESS
We have been making good progress on the recreation of Esseker (Custom Arma 3 Map made by Bojan).

We did run into some troubles, as some of you may have known we were taking applications for level designers and other spots on the team, we brought in a new level designer who didnt end up doing anything and wasted around 3 weeks of work, thankfully the original creator of Esseker is now fully on board with the recreation and has provided us with more resources and we now have made good progress on the map as seen above.

We cant wait to share more updates on the map in 2018!

LIVESTREAM SUCCESS & FAILURE
We recently did a 7 day livestream event but we only streamed 4 - 5 times. We had high viewer counts and alot of people seemed to learn some new things about the whole workflow of working on a game of this calibre, we were even joined by Mike Porter who has worked on big titles like Halo 3! We didnt stream for the full 7 days as we were doing this event to get alot of work done but we quickly found that we were spending most of our time answering questions, this was a big oversight that we should have prepared for so we apologize if we overhyped this.

Merry Christmas Everyone, this year had its up and downs in development, we went through a phase during the first half of the year where it was just Sam working mainly on the game and progress was slow, now we are a team of 8 people who are constantly working hard on the game, but we hope you can understand us taking one or two days off working to spend time with family.

Brian Hicks (Fellow Game Dev Guy) explains why its so important to take some time off, even if its very little.
