I am so excited to announce that the first playable demo for 1 Screen Platformer 2 is available.


1 Screen Platformer Prologue puts you in control of Nadia and shows you what happens the moments following capturing the golden skull in 1 Screen Platformer 1. Navigate the mother ship looking for survivors and trying to reconnect with the Skull you claimed in the first game.

I also decided as a special birthday present to update 1 Screen Platformer with a ton of quality of life improvements.

Here they are

• Update 1.40 (You get it? 40? Heh this old man still got it kids.)
  
• Leaderboards! I don’t know why I didn’t add this earlier, I have a damn speed running game. It took me a while to implement but they are in there. Go hurry and get your name up on the leaderboard before the rest of the speedrunners discover this and figure out how to beat my game in -1 minutes.
  
• Fall through: When you are on a 1-way platform you can now push the down arrow and you will fall through. Why didn’t I do this earlier? I don’t know, I was being a snob. When I started making this game I was thinking “A perfect platformer should have as few mechanics as possible.” But now I am 40 and I am like nah I am getting too old to be ideologically pure. Let them have their fun. Go crazy kids, drop through as many floors as you want, and then go grab me a beer.
  
• Optional resolutions: I added a selectable option for Full Screen, Windowed 1920x1080 and Windowed 960x540. Now you can text your snapchat tik toks in one window while playing my game in the other. Kids you are so good at your multi-tasking. If you want ultra wide screen I might do that but I wasn’t sure if anyone really wanted that. So comment below if you do and I MIGHT do it.
  
• No window focus = No Input. This one is just for me. I am sometimes playing 1 Screen Platformer then switch over to type something up and notice that my game was listening to every key input. No MORE! If you switch to a different window you will no longer jump into that lava pit.

I was hoping to get a build of 1 Screen Platformer Prologue out to you kids as a special birthday present but guess what? We got a pandemic on our hands and day care isn’t exactly open for business so I gotta be a game developer / preschool teacher. My 3 year old takes priority over video game making so things are going to take a bit longer.

This is going to be fun. All this month I am building new levels within the 1 Screen Universe.

Every Wednesday I will be emailing you a new EXE with 4 new mini-levels. They are short but very challenging.

Think of them as secret bonus content.

But I don't want to just build this alone and release it upon you like some long-forgotten uncle who drops by to stay for the week because he doesn't want to pay for a hotel.

I want to get your feedback. So once you are done playing the levels I want you to rate them, tell me what worked and if they were too hard.

Alright! I hope you all had a good holiday but all fun times must come to an end. The Christmas mode was a blast and I heard from so many of you that you enjoyed collecting those presents.

But keep your head up. Holiday season 2020 is just around the corner and there will always be some fun new mode then too.

While I was taking down the decorations in 1 Screen Platformer I also fixed up a few bugs

• The Gun Miner exploding blocks would sometimes explode the wrong color of debris, I fixed that.
  
• Vez's level didn't have music for some reason. Added it back in.
  
• The Gun Miner normal level had a few items that were from the Hard Mode of the level. I swapped them out.

I have added a new playable character to the game.

GUN MINER!

Gun Miner is a mysterious and unstoppable figure who caries with them the Void-Blaster Riffle. One shot from this short-range weapon and just about any block will instantly disintegrate.

Don't want to jump over that block? Blast it!

Want to drop down to the next floor so you don't have to go all the way around? Blast it!

With the Void-Blaster there is no longer a designated path through the level. You can do it in just about any order. Watch this:



Skip huge chunks of the level just by blasting through it.

But be careful!

Sometimes walls were there to keep traps in place. With no wall, some traps can wander freely through the level...like this blue pounding block.

It was once safe to stand there. Not any more.



I can't wait to see what you do with this new character. There are so many different ways to play the level now there will definitely be some world records set.

Best of all, the new Gun Miner character and levels are completely free. Please enjoy them. There are 2 difficulties AND the Christmas mode.

1 Screen Platformer now has 5 playable characters. It might be a small game but it always has room to grow.

Christmas is my favorite time of year and I want to give back to you. So I added a new mode to 1 Screen Platformer. Each character must grab presents as fast as they can from the level.

You might also notice that the world has been decked out with snow and holiday decorations. You can't hear it in the screenshot but there is also new Holiday music for each of the characters.

1 Screen Platformer was all about really difficult platforming in a tight environment. But, if you felt it was too confining get ready for the Zombie King.

In Return of the Zombie King you venture across a wide landscape. 100s of levels in 4 major environments: Forest, Caves, Hell, and Castles.



Gameplay is auto-running platformer. 1 Button push to jump.

The trick to Zombie King is that at the start you have no eyes so the world is in Black and White. You have no legs so you can't jump. You have no ears so the world is silent. In the world you must collect gold and then you can buy your body parts back.



Once you get the basics there are a whole world of upgrades. Double jump, Wall jump. Bonuses for going as long as you can without getting hit. It is all up to you. Plot a strategy for getting back to your castle.
