What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Obenseuer is an open world role-playing game project, which would be almost ideal for adding new features and content, and reflecting that with the community, to determine the direction for this project to take.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate that from now on (since the overhaul) Open Sewer will spend few years in Early Access, with the possibility of taking more time depending on the received feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Naturally the "full" version will be more refined, run smoother with less issues and have far more content than is currently featured.

For the full version we are planning on adding more playable locations with their own themes and purposes. To make Obenseuer a deeper and more living environment, we're planning on implementing different joinable factions with their own dynamics, and the ability to commit crime against said factions with the risk of punishement (and potential reward from their opponents).

As managing and renting out your tenement is a major aspect of the game, we plan to add a lot more depth into that. More freedom and upgrading options will be implemented. We're also thinking about the possibility of players setting up their own businesses.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently we have implemented:
  • First playable area exists in Obenseuer.
  • Basic storyline installed with a few related tasks for player to complete.
  • Some interesting and crazy characters, with their own unique dialogue.
  • Item system with trading, consuming, farming and manufacturing, including 100+ different items.
  • A functioning system for player character's needs and addictions.
  • Furnishing system for your apartment.
  • Basics for the player owned tenement, with renting and upgrading.
  • Day and week cycle.

Not yet implemented:
  • Additional districts and their storylines.
  • Improve NPC behavior
  • Performance improvements in some areas.
  • Bug fixes.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will be adjusted accordingly based on the amount of content and overall quality of the game during development. Therefore the price will go up a bit, as our plans get materialized into the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The direction of the game's development will be influenced by the community. We will be actively listening to your suggestions and feedback on a Steam discussion board, not to mention the inevitable bug reports and issues... after all, it is early access ;)”

About This Game

You have been forced to relocate into Stalburg's most notorious and chaotic district, now under a strict quarantine regime where no one can leave.
You're left there to cope with depression, addiction and maybe even a lethal disease. Survival won't be easy, but remember: the only way is up!

Become the landlord of a run-down tenement

Due to a clerical error, you have received full ownership of an unfinished apartment building.
This rat hole is your base of operations for your upcoming empire.
Upgrade and maintain the building to lease apartments for the Obenseuer's quirky inhabitants, and to build facilities for your growing business.

Decorate your apartment and equip your workshop

Time to make those barren, cold, concrete rooms look nice and cozy.
You can purchase and craft various different furnishing and manufacturing tools that you can place around freely.
The building's basement has enough space for a proper factory of your own.

Grow turnips

Despite the darkness, coldness and wetness of a depressing November, practicing agriculture is still possible!
Farm turnips and potatoes, etc., and convert them into liquid gold for a hefty profit.
Considering one of the probable reasons you ended up in Obenseuer in the first place, you'll probably consume at least some of your own refined turnip juice yourself. Also, having something to eat is pretty nice.

Discover dark secrets

As seen earlier, Obenseuer is home to a myriad of weirdos. Quack! And there are plenty more weird, dark things going on.
Do tasks and quests for various locals and discover what is happening beneath the surface in Obenseuer.

The secret ingredient is crime!

Steal, sabotage and break-in. In Obenseuer there are no rules!
Actually... there are, and the jail, run by the local militia, is not a nice place. So don't get caught!
