What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cattle Call might look like just some lighthearted „actor manager stuff”, but in fact it is a comprehensive simulation of the film and TV industry and the lives of all its actors (literally and figuratively) that we shed a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and money for in the last 3 years. We believe that the game deserves the time needed to fulfill its full potential. However, since we cannot fund its „fulfillment time” alone, we hope to complete this mission with the help of all the beautiful human beings who’ll support us on Early Access.

At the same time, we also look forward to your feedback and suggestions for the game. So far, we have been developing 'Cattle Call' like two hermits alone in a forest. And while all the wild boars around us seem to like it, we are still yearning for a more educated and sophisticated audience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in development for about 4-6 months to implement/polish/balance all the planned features and content. That said, community requests and ideas may extend this period.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to implement a bunch of additional features while continuously polishing and balancing the existing elements as well.

While the specific list of additional goodies will ultimately depend on player feedback and suggestions, here are some of the „A-listers” that we intend to include in the full release: Modding tools, Additional Languages, Steam Achievements, Leaderboards, Movie and TV Awards, More Random Events, Typecasting, Voiceover Casting, Movie Sequels/Prequels/Remakes, and some more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything that is specified in the "ABOUT THIS GAME" section of the page is already in the game, please refer to that for details.

You can already happily play Cattle Call for years (ingame time or real-life time for the hardestcore folks). That said, there are some elements that we want to add (see examples above) and the existing elements will certainly benefit from further polish and player feedback, too.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Absolutely. Those aforementioned beautiful human beings who buy the Early Access version will be rewarded with a lower price.

After release, the price will skyrocket (well...won't skyrocket but it will go up nonetheless).”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is essential in the success of any game and Cattle Call is no exception. We’ll always listen to your questions, comments, thoughts, and suggestions about the game.

Our community manager will answer every single message on the Steam discussion boards, via email, and on social media (FB, Twitter).

Since this community manager also happens to be the designer/writer/scripter/producer/tester/part-time artist/part-time programmer/marketing manager/whatnot manager of the game we can guarantee that he’s fully authorized and able (at least he said so) to address any subject that might come up.”

Dearest Peoples!

(Unless Valve rejects our submission for some reason) Cattle Call will be released on Steam EA on 20 November!

Our massive 2-me(a)n team have been working on the game since early 2016 and I must admit there were times when I thought this moment would never come.

But it's here and it’s a cathartic, yet nerve-wrecking and downright scary experience. I therefore predict that some pubs in our vicinity will witness a massive rise in beer consumption in the next few days.

Thank you for your flattering interest and support and we very much look forward to making the game even better in the EA phase - together with you!

A toast (from my favorite TV character ever) to you all!

Appetizer Course 8: Pre-Post Launch Plans aka Anarcho-Syndicalist Commune

It may seem a bit premature, given that the game has not even been released yet, but I’d still like to share some post-launch thoughts/plans with you, so you can look at these things from a funny angle, too.

The film- and TV industry and the professional + personal lives of the actors is a humongous subject matter for a two-men team. And while we worked our assess off in the last three years, there are still plenty of things to extend, improve, balance, polish, russian, italian, and so on.

And even beyond perfecting the current content, there are countless features (smaller and bigger) that can be added to Cattle Call. The only limitation to implement them is our imagination. And time. And of course money. But aside from these, nothing else.

We don’t want to decide about the additions ourselves though. What we’ll do is to set out plans and priorities on the basis of your feedback. Hell, we may even vote because voting is a thing these days.

Obviously, the very first updates will be about fixing any major problems you may encounter and about rectifying any major flaws that might frustrate you.
After these though, there are a few things that’ll be implemented in the game as soon as possible, even I get lynched in retribution (in that case, they will take a bit more time, of course). These are:
  • In-game Awards (Oscars, Emmys, etc. – with lawsuit-proof names, of course)
  • Steam Achievements (because everyone needs a little extra motivation)
  • Additional Languages (because everyone needs the additional income or at least we do)

Apart from these, we have quite a few other ideas as well but as we’ll live in an anarcho-syndicalist commune with you, you’ll definitely be able to expand or even shorten this list.

These are our current, “secondary” plans in an order of importance:
  • Modding Tools: by releasing the Event Editor and the Character Editor, you’ll be able to freely modify the actors’ parameters and write new events
  • Story/scenario mode: we feel the game would benefit from having a light Story Mode next to the current Free Mode
  • More Diverse Actors Pack: by creating new character parts, we can increase the variety of characters (almost) infinitely
  • Steam Leaderboards: who’s the goldest of all Ari Golds?
  • Hiring Staff: hire and fire agents, set the goals and let them do their thing
  • Commercial Actors Division: create a Commercial Division and fill it up with clients. Go on to book them on commercials. Some commercials may elevate your actors to such heights of fame that they can drop commercials and focus on more serious acting roles
  • Voice Actors’ Division: this could actually fit into the current system quite easily

Thank you for your attention, ladies and gentlemen, and we look forward to making Cattle Call great again together with you soon!

About This Game

Ever wanted to be Ari Gold from the cult TV show ‘Entourage’ (a slightly less profane and neurotic version perhaps)? Wanted to discover new talents from thousands of aspiring actors, guide them to fame, wealth and glory…or ruin their lives completely? Ever wanted to handle needy divas, lazy ass actors, junkies, sex addicts or complete jerks? Ever wanted to search through hundreds of casting notices to find that perfect role for a desperate client? Drive hard negotiations for a juicy backend bonus then anxiously check the box office chart every week hoping the movie will generate a massive profit? Enjoy a series of heart attacks on ‘Upfront Week’ when the large TV networks decide whether one of your series regulars’ show will be renewed for the next season or get the boot?

If the answer to any of these questions is ‘yes’, then 'Cattle Call: Hollywood Talent Manager' will make your wildest dreams come true.
