What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Aeternitas has been in development for quite some time, and we feel that we are ready to demonstrate our core gameplay and provide you with the central atmosphere of the game through the sweet & robust Open Day Edition. While the elemental combat system is in the works and nearing completion, we felt it best to invest more time to polishing its mechanics so as to make sure you have the best experience of being a student of the elemental arts. The Open Day Story Arc by itself is mostly exploration and dialogue-focused without a necessary combat instance; hence our choice to release it for early access. However, much of the content (such as dialogue and in-world novella) alludes to various aspects of the elemental arts, so you would be able to feel a sense of what you can expect. In the meantime, we would like to learn about your interest, procure necessary feedback, and generate publicity, which is best performed through Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Aeternitas to be in the Early Access stage for 1 to 2 months after an initial release in April, where additional features that are being worked on will be progressively integrated for the official release. A rough estimate on when we expect to exit the Early Access phase is around June/July of 2019, after the elemental combat system has been fully polished and unified with various storylines and quests.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Definitive Edition will include an additional six Story Arcs worth 12+ hours of playtime, along with a fully integrated combat system with the 4 elemental arts as its focus. Various challenging opponents, both human and spirit, will feature in the game, and so will a multitude of different elemental skills you can learn and master and synergize, offering an experience quite unlike anything that's currently out there. To get a sneak peek at what's to arrive, talk with the professors of each elemental art at Aeternitas.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Open Day Edition which we have made available includes the Open Day Story Arc, set where Elwin, our protagonist, arrives at Aeternitas and begins his journey into the great unknown. This story arc is one among the seven that has already been completed, where you can expect anywhere from one to three hours of playtime. In this edition, you will be able to experience the story by interacting with various characters, explore the main campus in which the majority of the game takes place, and interact with objects including signs and books which, when read, will reveal more about the world of Aeternitas and hint at content to come.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Open Day Edition which we have released for Early Access will be priced lower than the eventual Definitive Edition which will debut in a few months. Our philosophy is that we want to provide players right now with a robust taste of what they can eventually expect & it shouldn't be a costly investment for them to do so - it's Open Day, after all.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through reviews and comments, we would like to hear feedback from the community on what additional features players think would enhance the overall experience, what they found interesting and/or needs improvement, as well as take into account public interest to see whether additional content could eventually be released along with the Definitive Edition. Every review helps - and we would appreciate it heartily for thoughtful feedback. Thank you for reading this FAQ, and welcome to the world of Aeternitas!”
