What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Project Skylab 2 is currently in the Alpha phase of development and still needs some work before completed. I want to be upfront and honest with gamers that the game still has some technical issues/bugs, but that I am working hard to resolve them. I want to gather more community feedback before releasing the final game. I am a college student and the sole developer of this game. I want to make learning math more fun and interactive. I have limited financial, and human resources which is the reason development is taking a longer duration of time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Project Skylab 2 will be in early access for six months, or up to one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final game will not differ aesthetically, but have a fully functional save game system, more intuitive AI, and be better optimized for low-end computer hardware.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Project Skylab 2 is in the Alpha phase of development. The core gameplay mechanics are working perfectly, such as the character's body movement, character combat/weapons, and character animations. The game's driving mechanics are also working perfectly. The AI enemies are around 90% complete, with some enemies forgetting you are standing right in front of them, but this glitch rarely occurs. Character footsteps and background music are currently absent due to technical issues, but these issues in no way affect gameplay. Occasionally there are minor glitches, but I have done extensive testing to prevent major glitches, such as if the game would crash. Currently, the most significant problem I am working on fixing is when the character dies. As of now, the player will have to load a manual/quick savegame to respond. I am working hard on resolving this issue. As of now, the only data being saved is the character's location. I created systems that work around this issue, such as if the player unlocks a door, creates a save game on the opposite side of the door, and loads back in at that location. In this situation, the player can use the computer terminal that does not require a passcode since he or she already unlocked the door. This solution works very well.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will always be free-to-play.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Implementing user suggestions into the game if technically possible. Community feedback is essential to what I am trying to accomplish. I have learned so much from community feedback on my first game, Project Skylab.”

About This Game

Project Skylab 2 is going to make Algebra three-dimensional, engaging, and non-isolating. In the game, you are stranded on the surface of Mars due to a catastrophic accident. You will learn how to solve basic to advanced Algebra problems in your pursuit to escape Mars, but danger lurks around every corner. There is an army of cybernetic killer robots hunting for you. Your goal is to shut down the AI computer known as CAL(Cybernetic Assisted Learning) who controls this army of killer robots. You will have to use your arsenal of weapons to defeat CAL. You will also have your trusty rover to guide you across the red planet. The Mars landscape is 4x4 miles, so have fun exploring. The goal of the game is to create a comfortable, relaxing, and fun learning environment for students.

IMPORTANT: This is an ALPHA build of Project Skylab 2. I am a college student and the sole developer of this game. Project Skylab 2 is geared for middle school students. The problems build in their level of difficulty with hints and examples for every math puzzle. The game still needs some work, but it’s a significant improvement over Project Skylab. I have read all of your feedback on Project Skylab, which was very helpful, and have implemented the suggested changes in Project Skylab 2. Any feedback is much appreciated!
