Save bug for pre-release owners

A bug affecting players who own a pre-release copy for Finding Light may cause your saved games to become unavailable. If this happens to you, follow these instructions:

1. Navigate to Finding Light's save folder. This should be something like "C:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/finding light/www/save/".

2. Backup your save files (just in case).

3. download a replacement global.rpgsave file from this link:

4. Overwrite the global.rpgsave file in your save folder with the new global.rpgsave file.

5. Load the game. If done correctly, the continue screen will show incorrect saves; however, when you attempt to load one (whichever save slot you were using last), it should correctly load your last save on that slot.

Let me know via email at if you have any issues with this process. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Release info and patch notes

Hello! Just wanted to pop in and talk about bugs and other game-related stuff:

1. If you encounter any bugs, especially game-breaking bugs, send me an email: I do not actively monitor comments and discussions, so emailing me is a much faster way to get a fix.

In particular if you notice any problems with sound/music imbalance (something seems to loud? too quiet?) let me know - I'll be working on this post-release.

2. There are two known minor bugs present in the game:

-When browsing shops for spell orbs, you may notice a decrease in stats in the item comparison window. This can be ignored as spell orbs do not modify stats in any way.

-When saving the game underwater, you may notice your entire character cast appears as crabs on the save screen. This is Totally, Definitely Intentional.

3. An optional dungeon called The Depths will be released in the near future.

4. Possible other updates to the game include A) Mac support, and B) a translation to another language (probably Japanese), but whether this happens heavily depends on how the game performs sales-wise.

5. If you enjoy Finding Light, I encourage you to check out its prequel Knight Bewitched!

“Fans of early adventure games on the old black and white Game Boy will get a kick out of this brief but effective journey to rescue friends and slay demons.”
Defunct Games

“Pretty little black and white RPG with an intriguing storyline, simple music, exciting gameplay, and in general, strongly resembling a retro console.”
We love jRPGs!

“Black and white design and retro sound like the old gameboy style game, classic gameplay (quest, turn based combat system) and a fine story to discover.Designed as much more than a tribute to early RPG's and JRPG's like the original Legend of Zelda games, Finding light creates a brand new adventure for players to lose themselves in.”

About This Game

As monsters and miasma poured forth from the Black Tower, heroes Mari and Abbie climbed the tower and defeated its master, the wizard Morgoth. Two years later, Abbie vanished. At the same time, a towering spire emerged, stretching from the ocean’s depths to beyond the sky. "Heaven's Door", as some called it, caused the oceans to flood, submerging cities, kingdoms and even entire continents.

Finding Light follows the tale of Mari and her quest to find her beloved partner Abbie and solve the mystery of Heaven's Door. Joined by the wise cleric Keller, the former knight Stray and Malady the witch, Mari must travel beyond the sky, through the ocean's depths and deep underground to find the entrance to Heaven's Door and find her partner before the world succumbs to darkness.
