What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Mercenary Leto is my companies first commercial product and I need feedback on controls, pacing, and plot! Any quip or comment will help me make this game the best it can be!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Two years, release date - August 2020. If I can release it sooner, I will.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Feedback from testers will change the game as needed - controls, dialog, character dialogs... a lot is on the table to change.

Irregardless of that, the game is about 1/3 complete, and needs the rest of the content, levels, and bosses put in. Leto's moveset is almost complete, but I might get a great idea from a tester and I'll have to implement it!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“About 1/3 done - the current build currently takes about 20-25 minutes to complete. You'll fight two bosses, meet a cat wizard, pet a fluffy dragon, and explore three areas, one of them being a 'town' full of friendly NPCs.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will increase upon a full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I've been running a Discord for the past month with my beta testers - the link is on the Steam Community forums and you are welcomed to join! I have a release schedule of once a week with the feedback from the current owners of the game. I also have a public task board that I make public so the users can see what I am working on in real time!

Regardless, everything you say matters to this product, so your input is valued! The Discord runs day and night and I chime in and catalog whenever I have a chance!

As this is a product for eventual release to the mass market, I'll be taking, cataloging, and acting on all feedback I receive!”

About This Game

Action, upgrades, and one fluffy dragon. Travel the galaxy as a mercenary alongside a cast of endearing characters.

Half 2d platformer and half visual novel, Mercenary Leto is a game with a retro-SNES vibe about it. From a talking cat wizard to a skeleton in a kimono, you'll meet interesting tropes of NPCs, who then shortly begin to surprise and grow on you - just like real people do! This is a huge focus for us - a cast to remember.

So, in short -

  • Tight controls and movement
  • Great characters to love (or hate!)
  • A fluffy dragon. It's very fluffy.
  • When finished, it's going to be a short game. 2-3 hours.
