What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We started this project during a live streamed game jam with many valued feedback from our viewers on twitch. Thus it's only logic that we are continuing development of Maze Crusher in strong contact to our community and players.

Maze Crusher has ist core features ready and will get more features implemented step by step during early access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning to keep the early access state for about 12-18 months depending on various factors.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We want to implement more game modes and more mazes during early access.
Planned game modes to be implemented during EA phase are:
  • Capture The Flag (1 vs 1)
  • Capture The Flag TEAMS (2 vs 2)
  • Maze-Solving Versus mode (Solve together, win alone - see game description for more information)

We are further investigating if people would be interested to get a maze editor to be able to create and share your own mazes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The first early access Version to be released in september is kind of raw.
We got the standard game mode (single player maze solving) implemented as well as one multi player game mode called "Treasure Fight".
Also we are overall still missing many puzzle features. The current state focusses mainly on the maze solving.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do currently not have specific plans to raise the price in foreseeable future.
We might decide to raise the price by 10-20% at the end of early access period.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are providing a bug tracker that everyone can see and report bugs, requests and ideas to. Further we got a discord channel specifically for maze crusher where we can and will discuss feature requests, bugs etc with our community.
We highly recommend every player to join our discord and participate in the discussions as we want to make Maze Crusher YOUR game, not ours.”

About This Game

Maze Crusher is a game originating from Ludum Dare 42 Game Jam.
This game is in early access as it's still missing much content and many features. We want to make Maze Crusher a great game together with our community. This is why we are involving YOU in such an early state. Read the EA notes for more information.

Currently some of the screenshots are showing the graphics before our visual upgrade.

You are Kurisou, the little dragon :) - trapped in a huge and creepy maze. You need to find a way out of the maze as fast as you can. You have a limited amount of time to get out. The quicker you are, the more score you get.

Sounds Simple So Far Huh?

Of course there is more! Depending on the maze you play, there will be traps, portals and other stuff. You might need to activate triggers in different parts of the maze to open the exit-portal and you will encounter enemies all over the maze. You have three lifes per maze. If an enemy gets too near (touches Kurisou) you will lose a life.
Warning! Exploding fireballs cause a shock wave which will make walls collapse. And no, you can't get over collapsed walls. The tricky part is: Wall fragments can make it difficult to pass by - so watch out! Do not run out of space.

Beneath the single player "puzzle mode", there are some multi player modes available:
  • Treasure Fight (2-4 players)
Collect treasures and fight your friends to become the richest dragon in the maze
  • Capture the flag (2 or 4 players - coming during EA)
In this mode you need to find a way to your opponent's spawn point, grab his flag and bring it back to your spawn. But beware! You might lose the flag if you don't watch out.
  • Versus mode (2-4 players - coming during EA)
Multiple dragons in the same maze. You can (probably should) work together to solve the maze (open the exit portal). As soon as all blockers are destroyed you have to spit fireballs on your enemies. Got hit? You're out. Only the last one can leave the maze.
Note: Multi player is only available with controllers! You can not mix keyboard and controllers.

For optimal gaming experience use a controller. Officially supported and tested: Xbox One Controllers, PS4 Controllers, Nintendo Switch JoyCons (Names are trademarks of their respective owners). Many more are working out of the box though.
