What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Geometry Defense is a game I have been working on for the last 3+ years. While is appears to be a simple game it is a TON of work for an individual. I wanted to wait for the game to be 100% ready for Steam but the reality is that it is difficult to find all the bugs and assess balance myself.

User testing and review of features is the best way to make the game solid without a dedicated team. If you have any doubt I recommend you wishlist the game instead of buying it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I originally planned for the game to take 3 months to port to PC. The scope has creeped quite a bit and the porting work cannot be complete until the base game is deemed finished. The current expected date is the end of Q3 2024 but I recommend you wishlist it over buying it to avoid disappointment.

You can see some of the plan here: ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Geometry Defense will transition out of EA when the following minimum features are complete:
  • Campaign - all initial levels in the Sol System (Venus through Neptune) including an overhaul to the composition and difficulty of existing levels.
  • All Abilities Added - most abilities are tied to planets and therefore require the integration of the planet to the Campaign (Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune).
Procedural Level Generator - currently integrating a new level generator for creating all Campaign levels. This will be available to users in Endless/Sandbox mode. Waves are already procedurally generated.
  • Balance - the most important point in the list and the purpose of EA. The game needs to "feel good" before it can launch.
  • Full PC/Standalone Support - key/control, input sensitivity, graphics, and other configuration options.
  • Polish - less bugs and a smoother experience. New animations and effects where needed.

Additional Additions (not required for EA exit):
  • New Enemies - both basic and "boss" types.
  • Sandbox/Endless Mode Enhancements.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Most of the "core" systems are in place and pretty mature. The game has gone through numerous updates in the mobile version so most things work as planned. Balance is an issue - the game feels pretty good on mobile but using a mouse/keyboard and a big screen trivializes early stages. There are some OS X/Linux specific bugs.

The current features include:
  • 2 Game modes: Endless & Campaign.
  • 15/18 towers are implemented (support towers are the remaining branch).
  • 5/8 Planets (Campaign mode missions).
  • 8/9 Abilities.
  • Full Research Tree.
  • 8 basic enemy types.
  • 4 bosses.
  • 12 map layouts/paths.
  • In-game encyclopedia.
  • Limited graphical options and settings.

The game is controlled via mouse/keyboard only at this time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During Early Access users can expect to gain access at a discounted price. The price will increase at launch. IF multi-player is ever added the price will increase further as it is a significant effort.

Please do not be persuaded to buy based on this. You might not enjoy the experience and it may be best to Wishlist it if interested.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“While I monitor all connected forms of communication the "Official" way is via Discord which can be accessed here:

Please feel free to connect and discuss any aspect of the game. I have already made several changes to the game directly from user feedback and many upcoming changes are derived from users as well.”

About This Game

Early Access

This game is still in development. I was on a bit of hiatus (life is crazy) but I am back and working diligently on bringing this game to release in Q3 2024 please wishlist!

Whether you decide to buy now, later, or never I appreciate you stopping by and giving me a chance to pitch my game to you!

Action Tower Defense

Geometry Defense: Infinite is mainly modeled after the WC3 tower defense mods and why mazing is a core part of the game. Some differences you will notice is that enemies cannot destroy towers and the speed of the game.

The design goal of GD is sort of "anti-TD" in that playing idly will be punished. My goal with each mechanic is to force player action and higher actions per minute (APM). Enemies are designed to annoy you and disable your towers in other ways. I understand this is not for everyone but there are many really great tower defense games out there if you want something more traditional.

The current Live version does not achieve this in a way that feels good but the next update (1.7) is aiming to change that with a massive balance overhaul, new enemies, new towers, and more.

Features

  • Amazing Gameplay - define the enemies path to maximize tower damage.
  • Cool Towers - with 3 levels and 2 upgrade paths.
  • Powerful Elements - damage types with different status effects.
  • Awesome Abilities - for dispatching foes that rush past your defenses.
  • Unique Enemies - give purpose to your towers and abilities.
  • Challenging Bosses - challenge your skill against these special enemies.
  • Expansive Research Lab - with tons of upgrades, improve nearly every stat.
  • Campaign Missions - defend the Sol System from the geometric invaders and unlock new abilities.
  • Endless Challenge - infinite/incremental waves with a variety of configurations using procedural wave generation.
  • Endless(er) Dev - chance to provide input and have a meaningful impact on the direction of the game.
