What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Castle Kong needs to be perfect. Perfectly hard, perfectly ruthless, perfectly fun. So to that end we are opening the game up to the community to get things right before we shut down the codebase for good and start the tournament madness.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“If everything goes well - we suspect 60 days will be enough to work out the kinks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“CK is F2P - so we are releasing the entire game to you here to test out, give feedback, and help us tighten up before launch. The biggest thing is you're going to see the levels change a bit day in and day out in the EA period. After that, we clear the leaderboard and start all over.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We're proud to announce that the game is in Beta. We're finished with character design, and we've concepted out the 4 levels that will be in rotation during the experience. But let's face it, nothing is perfect. We want hard-core fans to help us tighten the enemy AI and gaps between platforms, etc. Give us your feedback. Are the levels arcade hard and glorious? Or do they need tweaking?”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“After the beta period we will implement the coins. You'll get 1 free coin per login per day, otherwise you need to unlock the whole game for unlimited plays.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want hardcore arcade fans to get involved and help us make the game as authentic as possible. Tell us where we can make more point exploits, make a oil section harder, etc. During the early access time, there will be a button in the main menu that you can press to submit feedback. Or just email us at drowningmonkeys@gmail.com”

About This Game

Castle Kong is Drowning Monkeys homage to what we consider the best game ever made: Galaga.

Anyways...

What makes the golden age of arcade gaming so fun is a simple concept: 1 coin, 3 lives. play till you die or hit the kill screen, and set a high score.

And that's what Castle Kong is all about. Just like the game it's based on (Probably not Galaga), CK will be a ruthless, 4 stage, 22 level romp as you play PauperBoy, a young kid who sets out to save PrincessGirl from the evil clutches of BaronMan.

Unlike it's predecessors, we leverage the power of connectivity to host tournaments (with a championship!), verify high scores, and have a global leaderboard.

And As Always,
if anyone's interested, a kill screen is coming up.
