“I plan to have Valeguard in Early Access for approximately 3 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Valeguard will have additional heroes, daily events, town features, items, units and structures. These all depend on what players want, enjoy, or wish they had more of. In addition to that, I would like to improve and add to the overall feel: Sound, fx, transitions, some art. Lastly I plan to do performance enhancements where needed.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Valeguard is fully playable from start to finish. There are a bunch of unlockable heroes, three enemy races, hours of semi-procedural levels, events, rare items, and more. There is a tutorial, tool-tips, and easy, medium, and hard modes to help players get started. There is nothing missing. I only want to add to, and improve on what I have with user input.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I don't plan to change the price after early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As a one-man-team, I will be as active and responsive as I can. The whole point of Early Access is to involve the community and I plan to do as much as possible. Every decision I make in the final development of the game will be with user input in mind.”

Valeguard Update #2

Hello,

Update #2 hits a few different areas of the game. There's new content, as well as tons of bug fixes and adjustments. It also has a few new usability features like the new help menu, (I'll be adding to that as we go.) This is hard work but I'm happy with how things are going. Please keep the feedback coming.

Valeguard Update #1

Hi,

For those of you who don’t know, I’m the only dev on Valeguard, which means I have to choose my updates wisely. I want to prioritize adding features/fixes that players are asking for when I can. I also want to thank everyone so much for posting bugs and feedback. I don't have a dedicated beta group so your feedback has been huge.

Below are some ideas, and a rough change list for the latest patch. Realistically some of these may shift down to get patches out more quickly. There will likely be at least one hotfix patch this week.

Usability Features
  • New mouse wheel zoom
  • Camera can pan when zoomed in with WASD (mouse pan in settings)
  • Multi-unit box-selection
  • Settings Menu: Audio, camera, and game reset options
  • New Hero Select Menu (for starting a new game)
  • Armor now shown in unit info on HUD

Hero Feats: Passive traits for each hero
*Feats are shown on hero-select when starting a new game.
  • Ranged: Attacks from range with miss chance.
  • Deadly: Can land critical hits for high damage.

  • A paladin with a two-handed hammer, Smite ability, and DPS over Armor
  • A melee Summoner able to summon a baby dragon
  • Upgrade Help Menu
  • Improve final boss battles
  • Balance
  • Ability Upgrades (at level 6 heroes can upgrade to a stronger ability that costs more energy instead of improving a stat.)
  • A few new events

Gameplay: Valeguard is a unique strategy game that combines Turn-Based City-Building with Real-Time Combat. Each day you construct your defenses, train troops, and prepare for attack. When enemies come in the night, you defend with towers, troops, and heroes with powerful abilities. Save as many towns as you can, while you travel through the Vale. Choose wisely, because each town unlocks unique assets and a hero to aid in future battles. Defeat is not the end in Valeguard. Each play you can unlock more heroes and discover new strategies to achieve victory.
