Oneirogen is a dreamlike circular journey through the depths of the developer's subconscious. Inspired by the writings of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell, this surreal experience was made for room scale VR from the ground up.

Why Early Access?

“This project is made with a development team of 1 person. I'm trying to do something new and different, so some things may not work as well as others. I want to keep the project in a malleable state as I get feedback from a larger group.”

“Oneirogen is estimated to be in early access 8-12 months, with an eventual release around Spring 2019.”

“We plan to add general refinements to gameplay and structure. We hope to add more sounds as well as sculptural objects in the introduction room. We really wont know what may change until we hear back from users.”

“We are confident this version on Oneirogen is a well rounded and stable experience. The current state of Oneirogen includes all the features described in the about section.

10 different environments
Spend as long as you like in each one.

“There is a chance the price may rise after it leaves early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We welcome feedback from anyone and will try to respond to any issues in a timely manner. The primary tool of communication will be the Steam forum of Oneirogen. While this will no doubt help us find glitches and bugs, our main goal is get feedback on the experience in general to see what works and what doesn't in a virtual experience. Help us refine this project and build future experiences.”

New Year Patch Notes

Deleted artificial boundary and added smooth fade out instead.

Added locomotion to both hands. (Press down on thumbstick/pad). You can go faster if you use both.

Haptic feedback now works on both Oculus and Vive. Hit those cosmic shuttlecocks!

Tweaked bow and arrow.

Added instructions in the menu room to make it easier for new players.

Fixed game breaking bug in one of the last levels. (Sorry!)

Various little cosmetic changes. Check out the shields in the fireworks minigame.

Holiday Update

Hi everyone! First off I want to say thank you for the wonderful support we've had in the months following the release of Oneirogen. I know its a peculiar project but most of you guys seem to get it and accept it for what it is. I'd also like to apologize for the lack of updates. Life threw me a curveball and ... well... lets just say I haven't had a workspace in 6 months as I've dealt with some heavy matters. But I'm back now! I'd love to update and improve on Oneirogen while continuing a new larger project. My intention is to keep the scope small and add general refinements and optimization rather than new levels which may make me rethink the pricing. Please send reports if it crashes or specific things don't work. Thank you to everyone who left a review so far, and please be specific with things that don't work for you (or you just dislike) so I can address them. My number one priority right now is changing out the artificial chaperone and tweaking the limited locomotion.

About This Game

Please Note: This is not a traditional game. This is a strange non-narrative 20-30 min room scale experience with gameplay elements.

Originally an MFA Art thesis, Oneirogen is a dreamlike circular journey through the depths of the developer's subconscious. Flow from one environment to the next as you experience a magical trip through mysterious realms.

Spend as long as you like in each scene, there are no timers or scores.
No deaths, killing, or intense violence.
No UI or menus.
No teleportation. Built with a 3mx3m space in mind. (Limited smooth locomotion available with thumb pad/stick for smaller spaces)
Find the 4 hidden tokens to unlock minigames in the starting room
