Update #7: Ice Trap changes and Scarabs

We've been working hard on getting our much anticipated mobile version of Mirrors ready. We've had some amazing new artwork done and added some great features to improve the playability of Mirrors. This has taken us quite a bit of time but we will save that for the release and we'll focus on the PC version here.

------------------------------------------------------

Title Screen Overhaul

After playing a lot of indie games it became stupidly obvious how dated our title screen menu looked. This has been rectified with a far fresher modern feel. We have also included links to our social media pages - you should follow us and see the other games we're working on!

Scarabs

As part of the way to improve the aesthetics of Mirrors, we have added Scarabs that will randomly spawn and roam around the ancient Egyptian tombs. Scarabs can be crushed by the player and are linked to several Steam achievements.

Ice Trap Changes

We have changed the mechanics of how the Ice Traps work. We felt that the traps were far too harsh and punished the player far too much.

The new mechanics of the Ice Trap mean that once triggered you will have 1.5 seconds to disable the trap before it is fired. Traps can be disabled by clicking or tapping on the trap and the timer is reset. Hitting the trap again or leaving the beam of light on it will trigger it again and require it to be disabled once more.

We believe these changes keep the challenge within Mirrors but stops certain tombs being tedious to complete.

Bug Fixes

Fixed a bug where the language window would randomly not open.
Fixed a possible bug with audio settings not saving.

------------------------------------------------------

Mobile is so very close to being released but we want to ensure its perfect on release.

We'd love to hear any thoughts you've got on this update and any ideas you may have for the mobile version.

Update #6: Improvements and Bug Fixes

This is just a small update fixing some necessary bugs and adding some additional improvements to the whole game.

------------------------------------------------------

Improvements

  • Language Screen will only appear on the first play. From then on you can change language from the options window in the main menu.
  • Emitter now rotates randomly at the start of every new level.
  • Upon completing an entire stage for the first time, a map piece will appear prompting the unlocking of a new stage.

Bug Fixes

  • Validation when naming your level will avoid duplicates.
  • Resolution drop down list no longer displays duplicates.
  • Fixed multiple navigation bugs.

------------------------------------------------------

We are currently working hard on producing a mobile version of Mirrors. It should be available over the coming weeks.

As ever if you have any issues we would love to hear about them.

About This Game

Mirrors is a light reflecting puzzle game inspired by The Mummy and the Ancient Egyptian method of reflecting light with mirrors.

You play as an adventurer searching for treasure in a vast number of tombs. To navigate through the tombs, reflect beams of light around using the mirrors that are at your disposal. Hit the receptacle with the light and the door to the next tomb will become unlocked. The deeper into the ruins you venture, the more dangerous it becomes. Overcome obstacles, avoid traps and defeat enemies while attempting to complete each tomb and retrieve the Canopic Jars.

When you're done searching for treasure there are other ways to put your adventuring skills to good use. Why not put yourself to the test in the timed mode? Think you're better than a Pharaoh? Try your hand at creating your own levels with the Level Creator, then head on over to the Curator's Well and show them off to your friends.

Good luck, adventurer!
