Why Early Access?

“There are a vast number of features I want to include with VR Robotics Simulator, but I will need to rely on community feedback as to which features will ultimately need to be focused on. Moving VR Robotics Simulator into Early Access prior to a full release will enable to me review early adopter feedback and provide extra polish and functionality before the first major release.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“Until the end of 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to include more robot arms and positioner types and new machining processes such as painting and grinding. I also plan on including an entire Education section that will encompass basic robot kinematics in a hand-on fashion that only VR can offer. In addition to this I will be adding the ability to import custom CAD models.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This version has a number of pre-built robotic cells for the users to jump in and play with, focused around arc/spot welding and material handling. The user can also build and save their own cell creations.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I do not anticipate raising the price once the application leaves EA.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback will be handled through email, r/Unity3D, website and Steam pages.”

Hello fellow robotics enthusiasts! It's been a while, I have mostly been focused on updates to the model viewer project, which I am now porting over to VRRS. Most of these are stability improvements and bug fixes.

Next up I will be:

- Fixing the janky controller collision detection when grabbing the end effector
- Improvements to the path program to stop it stalling for a frame at each waypoint as it calculates the next path
- Prevent the menu blackout sphere opening when opening the conveyor
- Ability to get the conveyors to drop custom imported models
- Program exporting to external format
- Better intro world
- Adding WMR support

There's alot more on the horizon too! As I start to bring this out of early access I will be updating the UI to be more aesthetically pleasing and tuning up the controls to be more intuitive. This was my very first VR project so there is alot to go back and change and improve upon.

About This Software

VR Robotics Simulator is an engineering tool used for industrial robot simulation, design, layout, rapid prototyping and reach analysis built exclusively for the HTC Vive.

With VR Robotics Simulator, you can build a robotic cell and program your robot within minutes. You can conduct reach studies to select the correct size and type of robot arm, choose the best positioning equipment for your application and use it as a Guided Sales tool to help customers visualize solutions. Using VR Robotics Simulator you can:

- Browse a large selection of pre-configured robotic work cells from the Selection Halls. This will allow you to examine these different work cells in detail and develop an appreciation for their relative size and capabilities.

- Includes a variety of 6 axis manipulators and delta robots.

- Cells include a variety of single and multi-axis positioners such as headstocks, tilt/rotate, skyhook, drop center, H frames, ferris wheels, floor/ceiling tracks, and multi-axis gantries.

- Build a cell from the ground up in real time. Save your creations for later use.

- Experiment with several different tooling options such as arc welding, spot welding and vacuum/magnetic/claw grippers.

- Learn about robotics and how to operate VRRS from the Training Room. This will cover basic robotics concepts, how to operate the various arms and positioners in VRRS, and how to construct your own robot cells.

- Import a variety of model formats for viewing in VR. Supported formats:
