10. Landmarks of the Human Body
13 AGO 2013
9 minutos
The early stages of a figure drawing usually involve careful measuring and identifying the gesture. To help us with this, the human body is filled with landmarks that give us clues to the gesture and points from which to measure the proportions.

16. Mannequinization
22 OCT 2013
18 minutos
What I think of as mannequinization is constructing the pose from simple 3 dimensional forms that lock together all the way down the body. And when you look at all the parts they form what resembles a person. All these parts, they’re all separate, but they all connect to the whole. And what brings
17. Mannequinization - Examples

19. How to Draw Balanced Poses
25 OCT 2013
7 minutos
To balance a pose you need to think of what’s known as the center of gravity. When you take the mass of the figure and drop a line down to the ground, the support (commonly the feet) need to be on that point or evenly spread around that point If the weight is evenly distributed among the feet.
20. How to Draw Exaggerated Poses
25 OCT 2013
6 minutos
I give you an approach that might help you a bit to push and change your reference. It’s like training wheels. We’re gonna take it one step at a time. And when you’re ready you can combine all the steps into one. And eventually, do it from your imagination.

And its also just a really good e

29 minutos
A real-time example of how to exaggerate a pose.
22. Human Proportions – Average Figure
27 OCT 2013
6 minutos
Studying the average human proportions is a common practice among artists. Even though everyone’s proportions are slightly different it’s very useful to have a guide – something to keep your drawing from looking wrong. Knowing the average proportions gives you something to measure from. This l
23. Human Proportions – Cranial Units
28 OCT 2013

Total Runtime: 15 hours 30 minutes

What You’ll Learn

Gesture: One of the most important concepts to drawing the figure. Gesture is the rhythm, motion, action, flow, and posture of the pose.

The Bean: An effective tool for identifying and drawing the tilting, leaning, twisting, and foreshortening of the body.

Landmarks: Know the areas where the bone is at the surface. Landmarks are used to find forms and to measure proportion.

Mannequinization: Give your drawings volume and perspective by using mannequinization to help invent poses from your imagination.

Robo Bean: Create a representation of the body with boxes to help find its orientation and use it to visualize it as a 3D form.

Proportions & Measuring: Learn how to use Dr. Paul Richer’s scientific system of measuring an average person and apply it to your own work.

Shading: Use highlights, halftones, core shadows and more to make objects feel 3 dimensional. Identify specific elements of light and apply it to the form.

Practice & Patience: Develop a drawing schedule and stay motivated. Knowing how to actually draw this stuff helps with… well, drawing this stuff!

Features

Extended Lessons: Premium videos are in-depth and cover a lot of information about each topic. These lessons are detailed and will guide you, as you learn to draw the human figure.

Demos & Examples: Most of us are visual learners (we’re artists!), so hearing it explained is not enough. We have to see it many times. Course members get access to a selection of example drawings and real-time demonstrations that help artists develop their skills.

Assignments & Answers: The course includes a variety of exercises to help you learn about the information. After you’re done with the lesson, I will actually show you how to do the assignment so that you can check your work.

Critique Videos: Students that follow along with new videos and submit assignments have a chance to be in critique videos. This shows improves of artists of all experience levels. After critique videos are made, students can email me for private critiques.
