Why Early Access?

“Hotlap Heroes first started as a hobby project by the 3 developers of Team Pea. Originally created for set-top box devices (Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire) and we've always been keen to bring this experience to other platforms. Hotlap Heroes has received the visual upgrades and improved controller support that Steam users have come to expect. In its current form, the game is a fully featured local multiplayer title, our next steps are to look into expanding on the current feature set. These could include:

• Dedicated single player.
  
• New gameplay features (car damage, power-ups).
  
• New multiplayer modes.
  
• Online multiplayer content.
  
• Steam achievements
  
• Leaderboards

With limited resources, the design and approach to this on-going work will be prioritized by the feedback we receive from the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate the game will be out of early access within 1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our main objective is to take Hotlap Heroes beyond its current form of local multiplayer enabling a wider range of players to get in on the racing action, be it single player functionality or more meaningful ways of people to engage with each other online. In addition, we’re always looking to provide extra content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Hotlap Heroes currently supports full multiplayer for up to 8 local players with 2 game modes - Race and Practice. Multiple controller support (including wifi controller support with a standalone iOS and Android app) 8 environments, standard and reverse tracks along with unlockable achievements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Any significant additions beyond core local-multiplayer focused feature set will likely result in a gradual price increase once out of early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The discussion forum on the Hotlap Heroes Steam community hub will be the go-to location for FAQ’s and discussion between our devs and the early access community. We’re hoping the community will provide insight into the most-requested features and modes of play beyond local-multiplayer focused gameplay. The community will also be able to feed into new gameplay and content - we’d like to hear what players like and dislike about the current game.”
