What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have big ambitions for Altar Show: a fully featured productivity tool that inherently augments your intelligence through spatial thinking. Exciting, right?!

Before we realize that vision, we have to finish building out important features such as: robust administrative privileges, Cloud storage, the ability to view spatial documents in 2D, templates for turning your spatial documents into presentations, and more. The core application is complete, and now we're working on features to seamlessly integrate Altar Show into your existing workflows.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“We anticipate Altar Show being in Early Access for six months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Altar Show will differ from the Early Access version in a number of ways. To list a subset of some potential differences:

  • Full VR-VR collaboration.
  • VR-Desktop collaboration.
  • Expanded support for importing external content. Examples of planned file formats include .FBX and .CSV, although this is subject to change.
  • Content created in Altar Show will be accessible through 2D interfaces for use on-the-go (such as mobile AR).
  • A significantly expanded feature-set focused on spatial thinking.
  • A web interface for quickly populating your virtual environment with content.
  • Viewing/presentation mode.
  • Integrations with cloud storage services.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the following:
  • Nestable worlds, called Bubbles.
  • Move objects between Bubbles.
  • Express Relations between Bubbles.
  • 3D sketching.
  • Virtual whiteboards.
  • Tags/labels.
  • Modify the appearance of Bubbles, Relations, and 3D Sketches.
  • Resize virtual objects.
  • Use Gestures to create virtual objects like a whiteboard.
  • Import images, .PDFs, and .OBJs in-app.
  • Save/Load your Shows.
  • Take screenshots.
  • Ambient background audio.

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As we start to roll in more functionality the application, we’ll transition from free to a freemium model. In other words, expanded functionality may be made available through a subscription, as opposed to the free version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Bugs: we do our best to squash all bugs before shipping, but some inevitably slip through the cracks. When our Early Access users notify us of a bug, we’ll fix it as soon as humanly possible.

Features: we have a roadmap in mind, but that roadmap is really dependent on what our users want to see! We’ll be frequently polling users for which features they like and don’t like, and which features they’d like to see.”
