What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While HammerHelm is in a very playable state, it is not "finished" and contains some placeholder assets. Since releasing HammerHelm I have already added a ton of new content including new Dwarf characters, new town buildings and jobs, a new game world, a bunch of new quests, and more! I plan to add even more new features and build more quests and content.

Also, while there are lots of things I want to add to the game, I'd like to get feedback from the community regarding what you like about the game and where you'd like to see it go from here!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“By the end of 2018”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of HammerHelm will have more quests and more buildings for your town. It will also include lots more features. Your feedback will also greatly influence the direction HammerHelm takes. The new features and quests will be added over time while HammerHelm is in Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of the game is in a playable Alpha state. The core systems are in but not all of the content is available yet. Players can create a character, build a town, adventure with their character, interact with townspeople, go on quests, craft and upgrade their equipment, and battle monsters. There is currently a lot to do in the game!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price might increase when HammerHelm leaves early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan on being very active on the forums and taking community feedback to help shape the future of the game. Getting feedback on the kinds of quests and events that you would like to see, new buildings, additional features, etc.”

Alpha 3.6.1 - Quick Ghost Fix

Today's build has a quick fix in it for the enemy Ghost's AI. The bug caused ghosts to fail to face you when charging, causing them to move in a direction regardless of your position.

Also, I'm in the process of updating to the latest version of the engine for HammerHelm. That's why there hasn't been an update for the past few days. It's going slower than I'd hoped but it'll be worth it. Right now the day/night cycle is acting up so I'm looking into that. Once I figure that out should be able to release it. Doing the update allows me to take advantage of some new features with the engine in addition to allowing me to update and improve the camera.

In Progress - Updated Monsters

Now that the new Dwarves are in the game, I'm continuing the effort to replace the placeholder art, specifically most of the monsters. I just got back a beautiful piece of concept art from a new artist that I am working with for the Orc and I thought I'd share!

I think he looks awesome! He probably won't look quite as feral once he's modeled and in game, but I wanted a more savage and dangerous look for them and I think the artist nailed it!

The goal is to do concepts and models for five monsters to start. The Orcs, Goblins, Skeletons, Mushroommen, and perhaps add a new monster for the fifth one. I like the look of the Elementals so for now I'm going to leave them as is. The Scarecrows, Necromancer, and Ghosts will eventually get replaced too.

Note this is just started so it'll be a while before the new monsters are actually modeled and set up to be put in game. My estimate for seeing the first new monster in the build is some time in mid to late September. As always I will share the progress as things are developed!

About This Game

The Dwarves of the HammerHelm Clan dream of living above ground, under the sun and clouds. As their Champion, it is up to you to help them establish their home and guide them towards prosperity. But this new land is filled with danger and your town will face many challenges.

Something dangerous is stirring in the storehouse, keeping the workers from delivering their resources. The sewers you built last week to help the town remain clean - goblins have moved in and are using it as a base of operations. The farms have become poisoned and won't yield crops. And the Tavernkeeper has heard rumors of a Necromancer building his tower nearby, plotting to attack the town.

The more your town grows, the more your adventure grows!
