Γιατί Πρόωρη πρόσβαση;

«Our goal with Early Access is to allow the community to play Meta Star right from the beginning. With the type of game Meta Star is, we need to foster a community as early as we can, and we also need to make sure that a community already exists before we officially launch. We will also be using this time to highlight the early updates made to the game and prove that this model is something that can be successful.»

Για περίπου πόσο καιρό θα είναι αυτό το παιχνίδι σε Πρόωρη πρόσβαση;

«We will be in early access for 5-10 release cycles. That will allow Meta Star to begin to blossom into a longer game, and also allow time for community feedback on how to polish the game to make it acceptable for release.»

Σε τι θα διαφέρει η τελική έκδοση από την έκδοση Πρόωρης Πρόσβασης;

«The full version of the game will differ only in the respect that we will add an option to summarize the story line so far, we will make any final polish updates, and we will increase the price. Outside of those changes Meta Star will be the same game with the same constantly changing game play and storyline as was available in Early Access.»

Ποια είναι η τρέχουσα κατάσταση της έκδοσης Πρόωρης Πρόσβασης;

«In the first version of Meta Star, players will have two separate amazing experiences:

- The Beginning of Meta Star: This is the primary experience where players will take the reigns in a visceral top-down arena shooter. The current version contains a light sci-fi storyline with one MAJOR player choice, and includes four different types of enemies. Players will blast their way through all of the enemy waves, and those that are successful will have the opportunity to submit their request for new features in the next version of the game.

Meta Trophy: A "full" game experience which can be accessed from the main menu. Meta Trophy was our prototype for the "Player's Choosing Features" experience. Players can expect an old school RPG with all the fix-ins: lite grinding, item shop, world map, gambling, card mini-game, and a boss battle.

Keep in mind that every release cycle of Meta Star will add more depth, more gameplay, and more story, and those changes come directly from our community. Some examples of standard features currently missing that can be requested are: a World Map, an Inventory System, more than one type of weapon. Some even more unique suggestions for features that do not currently exist could be: player hats, asteroid mining minigame, local economy, etc.»

«Meta Star begins as a completely free game, but we will be increasing the price a very small amount after every couple releases. Additionally, once we move to an "official" launch, the price will increase one last time and then remain at that price point.»

«We will be involving the community at every stage of the process. The entire basis of the game is about involving the community in every decision. Every release cycle, the features and game play of the game will be updated based on what the community requests.»

Gameplay


Meta Star will be an epic sci-fi Action-RPG focused on player choice, but currently it is a visceral single arena shooter. You take control of a mysterious figure on a mysterious mission, and are striving to discover what this "Meta Star" nonsense is all about. Take out aliens with your Energy Rifle, and make choices that can drastically change the way the game is played. The storyline changes after each update, so you'll need to continue to play to discover all of the Meta Star's mysteries.

Perhaps more importantly, with each update new features are added and the storyline changes, but the ideas for those features come directly from the players! Who knows what Meta Star will become in the future! Do you want more customization? Character choices? Achievements? Lasers? Hats? Or something more fundamental, like a mini-game, options screen update, or cameo? Even something off the wall, like a space plant simulator or a mythical pet rock? The question to our community is, what amazing things can you think of?!

Feature Requests


The first person to beat Meta Star during each release cycle requests one "Feature" to be included in the next release. Additionally, all those that complete the game, but are not first, will be entered into a drawing. The winner of the drawing will also describe a "Feature" to be used in the next release.

Smaller "tweaks" will be awarded to members of the community based on finding bugs, providing art/music, and any other acts of kindness! Stay tuned to the forum and the announcement section for how to participate!

Meta Trophy


In addition to Meta Star, players are able to access the entirety of Meta Trophy from within the game! Meta Trophy was an early attempt at using the Feature Request system against a static fantasy RPG, and will give you a taste of the types of quick changes that can evolve in a game of this kind.

Early Roadmap


In addition to the requests being implemented based on player submissions, developer-led updates will also be included within Meta Star each release cycle. Our early plans for the first few releases include general polish, cut-scene skipping abilities, a new weapon, and of course story updates. Also, we will strive to make each release unique, both from a story perspective and from a "how to beat the game" perspective!

One final note: The developers hold the rights to change any of the above rules or processes at any time. However, one thing that will not change is our commitment to the community. The basis of the game will always stay the same. We will continue to iterate the game based on the community’s input. And we will keep lines of communication open with the community.
