What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While the core of the Zeppelin-VR-Experience is working, it is not yet feature complete. We are also aware that the existing scenes are not yet polished enough to consider this current release as final. However, as several core concepts are already there, we gave quite a few private demonstrations over the last few months. Encouraged by the inputs we received during these presentations, we decided it is best to release this Early Access Version to the public. We experienced the tremendous benefit of user feedback first hand and believe this is the right way to receive an even broader feedback. Hopefully this will help us prioritize where to shift our effort during the journey towards the final release. We are also specifically looking for ideas and advise regarding additional scenes and locations and a general feedback what works well in terms of immersion.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to deliver the final version in Q1 of 2018.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We would like to add more scenes and locations for the Hindenburg-flight. We would like to have additional user feedback before taking a final call on these extensions. Depending on the feedback we receive during Early Access we are also open to implement further improvements. Of course the full version will also be more polished.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It is a working VR-Experience. You can watch it from beginning to end. Consider the current state an advanced proof of concept. However -as mentioned- a lot of polish is still missing and the current state is also not feature complete.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is free now and will be free after final release. We promise ;)”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Please use the comment section to help us shape the direction of future development. Please feel also free to contact us directly through any of the communication channels you can find on our website. Generally we are very interested to receive inputs about the perceived level of immersion during the different scenes. Additionally we are also looking for suggestions in regard to additional scenes. In early tests the Hindenburg Lounge Scene was a favorite among testers. We are therefore planning to extend the VR-Experience in this regard. We would like to know from the community which locations within the Hindenburg we should include in the final release? Additionally we are considering to provide the user with options where the Zeppelin is flying. Please let us know your thoughts!”

About This Game

Zeppelin VR showcases various advanced approaches to enhance immersion for next generation 360-degree Videos. Experience innovative ways to combine computer generated imagery with camera captured 360-degree video footage.

In the first scene the viewer stands inside an art gallery. Right in front of us we can see the famous picture of the Graf Zeppelin airship behind Castle Vaduz in 1931. Suddenly the Viewer is absorbed by the painting and finds himself within the 360-degree version of the scene. While the painting around the viewer is transitioning into the photorealistic landscape of this famous view, the zeppelin starts flying.

The second scene is widely considered as the most immersive out of this Zeppelin VR-Experience. Here the viewer finds himself within the Lounge of the Hindenburg Zeppelin. Not only can we walk around within this area of the airship, we can also look out of the windows, where we see the Rheintal passing by.

In the third scene we are flying above Lake of Constance before we finally land in Friedrichshafen. During our journey we pass two modern Zeppelin-NT Airships.
