What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Gravity Garden is still in an early stage of development. I think that now is a good time to get people playing the game and let them help to shape its progress. I'm a solo developer so gathering feedback during development is very important.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm planning on 6 to 8 months in Early Access, possibly longer if I hit some big roadblocks or changes in the game design require more time. Doing my best to keep the design as simple as possible while still creating something fun and rewarding to play.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Features planned for the final version:
  • Care for your plants by providing proper surroundings, water, and nutrients.
  • Explore using your personal gravity jets
  • Produce enough food and energy to survive and thrive
  • Discover dozens of different plants, pests, and critters.
  • Defend your garden from invading pests and weeds.
  • Collect alien artifacts.
  • Earn Achievements by completing fun challenges.

The also plan to add Steam Trading Cards, Achievements, and Cloud Saves.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Current version is playable but limited to:
  • Menus to choose plants, tools, and options.
  • 10 plants that grow, die, produce fruits, and respawn
  • Tools for watering and fertilizing soil
  • Tools for analyzing soil conditions and identifying plants
  • Fruit harvesting and inventory
  • Movement options: Classic first person controls, float in zero-G, or teleport
  • Comfort options: snap-turn, smooth turn, movement speed, movement hand, steer via hand/gaze
  • Rudimentary save/load system

All of the major game systems are in place, but there is not much 'game' in there yet. Working now on player progression, goals, and resource management. Right now you can have a bit fun growing plants and exploring the small, open world. You'll get a good feel for where the game is headed and get an insiders view of my development process.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I do plan on raising the price when leaving Early Access. A lower price now is a good way to say thank you to early adopters.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'll be using the Steam forums to gather feedback, suggestions, and bug reports from players. I'll take all of this into consideration as I improve and expand the features of Gravity Garden. If there is enough interest I may also do some live video streams, or other interactive events with players”

About This Game

Gravity Garden is a cosmic VR farming simulation.

Development of this game has been cancelled. Please see the announcements page for more info. The free demo is still available.

This is an open-world simulation of plants that live and grow according to the conditions in their environment. Plant your seeds anywhere - there are no rigid plots or grids. It's a sandbox experience where you are free to do as you please. Work towards a series of increasingly difficult achievements or simply grow a beautiful garden and admire the view.

Features planned for the final version:

  • Care for your plants by providing proper surroundings, water, and nutrients.
  • Explore your MiniVerse filled with floating islands and organic, fractal structures.
  • Discover dozens of bizarre plants and critters.
  • Defend your garden from invading pests and weeds.
  • Collect alien artifacts.
  • Earn Achievements by completing fun challenges.

Don't forget to sample to fruits of your labor.

Gravity Garden is still in an early stage of development. There are about a dozen kinds of plant to care for, a few critters to observe, and a small world to explore. Not much actual 'game' in there yet, though. You can get a good feel for where the Garden is headed and help shape its progress by offering feedback and suggestions. I'm a solo game developer so every bit of feedback I get is very useful. I'm excited to hear your ideas and suggestions for the Garden. Check out the Community Hub for release notes, to-do lists, feedback, and suggestions

Requires a SteamVR compatible headset. Not yet tested with Windows Mixed Reality or Index Headsets, but should work with standard button mappings. Conversion to the new SteamVR Input system is on the to-do list which will improve compatibility. A strong CPU and GPU will let you grow up to a thousand plants at once. A min-spec VR system will probably struggle after 50 or 100...at least for now.

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10
    • Processor: Intel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or greater
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480 or greater
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 5 GB available space
    • Sound Card: any
    • VR Support: SteamVR
    • Additional Notes: Should run on a bare-minimum VR system, but you would see frame-rate drops with low numbers of plants. This listed specification should allow for 100-200 active plants.
    Recommended:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10
    • Processor: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
    • Memory: 8 MB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1080 equivalent or greater
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 5 GB available space
    • Sound Card: any
    • Additional Notes: With a strong GPU and CPU you should be able to grow up to 1,000 active plants smoothly.
