What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Because we love you. We want you to be happy. We want you to really enjoy Pix. So we made 36 levels to get you started. So you play them, then let us know if they made you happy. Then we'll polish them based on your feedback, to make you even more happy. Because we love you.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“At least a few months. Maybe half a year. We want to hear from you what kind of levels you like, what you think is best about the game, and what can be improved. Then we grind. Grind grind grind. More levels for you. We grind and grind more and more levels for you.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access is starting with 36 levels. During the Early Access months, we'll keep grinding out more new levels. The full version will be released when we feel like there are enough well-polished levels that the EA community is really enjoying.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access is launching with 36 solid levels we feel provide a good variety of experiences, and fun replay. The first few levels are naturally orientation / tutorial, and then they begin to ramp up in difficulty so the average level is somewhere around a medium challenge to finish the level. The real challenge in the game is in collecting the 3 pixels on each level.

In the beginning levels, it's easy to collect all 3 pixels. But as the game progresses, they become more challenging to get. When the game is hitting its stride, the 3 pixels are basically Easy, Medium and Hard to collect. But that ramps up like crazy, since collecting just 1 Easy pixel is, well... easy, but try to get all 3 on the same level is gonna tax your platforming skills and see what you are really made of!

Also, all the levels are unlocked. No reason to lock them and make you complete specific ones to unlock the rest. You get access to all of them so you can choose your own level of challenge / difficulty by how many pixels you go for on each level!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. During Early Access the price is discounted based on how many levels there are. As the amount of levels increases, the price can be slowly ramped up until there are enough levels for the full version at peak price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Communication through steam forums, YouTube & Twitch gameplay, and other feedback channels. We love watching your gameplay videos, seeing your screenshots, and reading all your comments. All feedback is welcome, both compliments and criticism. We learn what makes you the most happy, and incorporate those things in the new levels we grind out for you!”

About This Game

Pix is a tiny little pixel-art creature who jumps through obstacle courses on a quest to collect colorful, sparkling pixels - but the way is perilous and filled with danger. Death lurks around every corner in this risky mission to recover the glowing goodness, but well worth the loss of life and limb when your head is full of pixels!

Pix is a straightforward platformer built around a 3-pixel objective per level. Any noob can complete the levels by just reaching the end, but if you want to really test your skills, try collecting all 3 pixels on every level.

  • 36 levels (to start the Early Access versions)
  • 3 pixel challenges per level
  • Achievements coming soon
  • Controller support in levels (Windows)
  • Platforming chaos
  • Deadly spike pits
  • Whizzing saw blades
  • Swinging pendulums of death
  • Innocent looking levels designed to kill you without mercy :)

Gameplay is tweaked so you can conquer higher challenges to suit your own ambitions, while preserving your ability to explore the whole game at an average skill level. Got any platformers collecting dust cuz you couldn't finish some level that unlocks the rest of the game? Not in Pix. Instead of an ever-increasing difficulty curve where each level unlocks the next, the average level is “medium” difficulty to finish, while the 3 optional pixel challenges within each level will continue to increase in difficulty.
