What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Showing off the game frequently at game shows has provided invaluable feedback, insights and ideas for its development. Early Access is the logical continuation of that. The goal is to make the game the best it can be. Since the game is very challenging, Early Access will help balance the various game modes and sort out remaining kinks.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About half a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • at least one new singleplayer game mode (Progress Mode)
  • Feature fine-tuning
  • improve game modes' balance (there will likely be leaderboard resets)
  • More Steam Achievements will be activated once the balance is pretty final
  • Polish and quality of life features (accessibility, options)
  • Improved Sound Sets, including a new third Set
  • Various other improvements (looking into full KB support, tutorials).

While there is a clear vision for the full version 1.0, the intention is to keep updating the game beyond nominal full release. The modular and replayable nature of the game is well-suited for this.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“-tried and tested, but still evolving arcade mode
-basic local co-op mode
-2 Sound Sets (Rock; Electronic)
-currently requires game controller”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price may increase for the final release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There is a clear vision for the scope and shape of the "final release" version, but within that framework the game can benefit a lot from the Community getting to play it and constructive feedback I'm looking for in the forums. It's better to get this feedback early when it can still be used to make the game awesomer :)”

An Update on the Music Update and Miscellanous Stuff

Dear Current Players:
The Music Update is coming along nicely, and soon[tm]!
I ended up redoing a lot of the systems for the interactive music and extending their features. As every game developer will tell you, increasing the complexity of the features a game has also increases the time it takes to create content, but I'm very excited about these and the game will benefit from it.

In other news, with the coming update, the "beta" branches will be named more appropriately. Currently, the "beta" branch holds the most recent previous version of the game. In the future, the previous version will be available in a branch called *drumroll....* previous_version! Yes, I did come up with that name myself, thank you! ;) The branch called "beta" will contain the latest version and experimental versions.

Dear New Players:
Welcome! I'm working on a Steam Guide that should come in handy with the learning curve and shed light on some of the less evident features and settings of the game. Have a gander MODSORK Guide It will be updated as the game evolves. Also, you're welcome to join us on the official Discord Server: MODSORK DISCORD

Dear Prospective Players:
(and existing players who want to feel good about having supported the game early). At some point in January, the price will increase very moderately to reflect the progress the game has made since it launched into early access. So I guess now's a good time to support the game! ;-)

Hotfix 0.6.2c

Just a little fix to address a very old and a very new issue:
  • The Spinning Beam ability now shouldn't miss far-away enemies anymore and reliably zap everything it hits.
  • Minor Update 0.6.2b introduced a bug where the revived avatar wouldn't move during its invulnerability phase. Sorry! It now works again as intended.

The Spinning Beam fix may have an impact on performance, please let me know if you notice anything when you use it.

About This Game

Control two avatars at the same time,
connect them with lasers and
clothesline endless waves of grumpy geometrical shapes to
conquer the leaderboard!

Interactive Audio

Many game elements are synchronized to the music, which in turn reacts to gameplay events. The sound effects are part of the music and adapt when you pick a musical style from the small selection of interactive Sound Sets.

Unique Control Scheme and Gesture-Driven Special Abilities

It's all about the mind-splitting controls, the challenge they present and the intense satisfaction of gradually mastering them! Cool moves trigger cool abilities, similar to fighting game special moves:

Solo & Couch Co-op Modes

Currently there is the main single-player Arcade Mode as well as a local Co-op Mode. (More game modes are planned, c.f. Early Access info )
