Why Early Access?

“Mage Guard is being released to Steam Early Access so that we can bring you into the loop in our final development phase of the game.

Currently Mage Guard has 3 levels with multiple waves of enemies. You will have 2 spell classes Fire and Ice and some of those spells are unlocked through progression of the game.

Top Priority Features on our TODO List:

  • Add 2 more levels each having multiple waves
  • Add 1 new spell class (most likely a nature class)
  • Add 3 new spells to that class
  • 1 or more new enemies
  • More story content in between game play
  • Steam Achievements
  • Add OSX support - (when available)

Full Release Content Target:
  • PC & OSX Support (when available)
  • Oculus & Vive Support ( currently both are supported )
  • Full XBOX controller support ( works but is a little buggy )
  • Add 3 spells classes
  • 5 levels to play
  • Full story content
  • Steam Achievements

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are schedule to be in early access until the end of 2018, more sales of the game will expedite our schedule and allow us to add content more quickly. So tell all your friends about Mage Guard!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access is all about getting feedback, we are listening. So our main difference between what is currently part of the game and what will be there in full release partially depends on feedback, but mostly it will be a plethora of gameplay, story and immersive content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game thus far is in good shape, we have all the tools and parts in the game to be a fun and amazing experience. We are lacking a little bit of content, but this is what we aim to add over the next few months.

There are a few Known issues that we want to resolve quickly.
  • Popping out of Game in SteamVR between level loading ( very annoying, we are working hard to fix this )
  • Playing Mage Guard without a Touch or Vive controller is a little wonky. it works, but it is not ideal and we would like to true up this experience.
  • Some spells stretch textures when impacting on corners, it is a visual blip and we want to have this fixed for release.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The pricing will not change when we leave early access. So what you pay now, will give you access to all fully release features. There are some plans to add DLC content for the game, but that all depends on the success of the title.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are listening to your wants and needs in the community forum on Steam. We want to know what you like and dislike about the game there vs in "reviews", although reviews are welcome and appreciated! However, we want to engage with the community to make the product better. Increasing the quality, and extending the life of the product through quality updates that make the game better on a regular basis. To do this we need to hear you, and we need your input. Early Access is all about feedback, and together we can make Mage Guard truly the best spell casting VR experience out there.”

About This Game

Mage Guard is one of the world's first truly gesture based spell casting games for VR.

Take on the role of a Guild Mage, tasked with guarding the Guild’s most powerful relic, "The Grimoire". Magic, based on symbols, is a powerful force in the world and tightly controlled. All mages must join the Guild for their own safety and the safety of the populace.

Chaos ensues when a rogue faction within the Guild breaks away and begins running rampant, capturing or burning villages, stealing knowledge and artifacts and setting themselves up as the ruling class of the land.

Now the enemy is at the gate and most of the your allies have fallen. Deep within the chambers of the Guild Archives, the you stand guarding over the Guild’s most powerful relic. Should it fall into the hands of the enemy, all is lost.

As the action begins, the first wave of enemy forces has breached the chamber and prepares to seize the relic. The Guild Archivist, Naria, instructs the you to defend the Relic at all costs.
