What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Graffiti Bombing started as a personal graffiti project, which I've now decided to release publicly. It's a technically challenging project, that right now only runs well on high-end VR headset and computer setups with SSDs.

The goal is to make an immersive, open-ended, free roaming graffiti experience, with a physically correct paint system, that performs well across most high-end VR devices and computer setups. To realize that ambition is going to take more time, hard work and dedication.

Polishing existing, and developing new or advanced features takes time, however we wanted to get players into Graffiti Bombing sooner, so EA gives us an opportunity to do that.

Releasing early gives you the players an opportunity to experience and send us feedback as we continue to develop. We’ll consider all feedback and if appropriate will incorporate into development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“At a best guess 1-2 years, it really depends how long some of the more complex features take to implement, i.e. the complete day / night cycle, multiplayer component and cross-scene zones travel.

That said - we’ll be releasing regular updates, probably every 1-3 months, so you’ll see the Graffiti Bombing experience evolve fairly regularly during the EA period.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The list below highlights some of the planned features and improvements:
  • Paint System: add more features, offer better creativity, whilst keeping things grounded in semi-reality.
  • Additional Areas: more bombing zones / locations, which are accessible via the subway and sewer systems.
  • Advanced Paint Zones: management for players, allowing saving / loading / sharing / importing content etc.
  • Player Home: chill-out area / hub, complete with mini-games, media and social features.
  • Play Modes: the full version will offer three different modes of play.
  • Creative Mode: where you can relax and do graffiti with no rules.
  • Challenge Mode: where you have health, there are dangers and challenges.
  • Multiplayer Mode: you go online to collaborate on graffiti and bomb locations.
  • GRAF-CAM: video director system, allows placing of virtual cameras for in-game recording.
• Social Media: more types and different sharing options, to get your content noticed.

We also have other things planned, however you’ll have to stay tuned for more info!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As expected you will encounter some bugs / issues and performance issues, particularly if you are running minimum specs. We’ll be actively seeking player feedback and reporting, so that we can iterate, fix and continue to improve the experience.

See the list below for highlights on EA state:
  • Current version of Graffiti Bombing has focused on the start areas for the experience, which is comprised of the portal, bunker base, warehouse and train yard zones.
  • Core game mechanics for the single player experience are mostly complete, and in a usable / playable state.
  • World and zone mechanics are working fairly well, although there are still performance improvements and bugs to fix.
  • At the moment you can play an early version of Creative Mode only, which allows you to relax and do graffiti with no rules as such, in a fairly safe environment.
  • Paint System for doing graffiti and supporting systems are mostly done, with more improvements planned.
  • Loading / saving of world systems and graffiti happens automatically and is currently in a working state, requiring further optimization and improvements.
  • Player tools such as the Backpack Inventory, Actions Assistant and Quick Menu system are functional, requiring more features and improvements.
  • Basic social and media sharing features only at this time, more features planned.
  • No multiplayer / online component yet, this will follow later, once the single player experience is in a near final state.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Graffiti Bombing is being released as a free to play experience, meaning that anyone can download, install and play the base experience for free, as long as they have the required VR equipment, and a powerful enough computer rig to run it (see Supported Platforms)!

The base version offers a limited set of features and graffiti locations that players can experience for free. As an example - there are four different types of paints available in the paid version, but in the free version only one type is usable. Also - there are more than ten different sub-areas you can bomb graffiti in the starting area, however in the free version only two are available.

Graffiti Bombing - All City Edition is a paid DLC addon for the base version that offers more features and locations to the player. If you want the full experience, you should get this version. The cost will be same during and after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’ll be gathering feedback from the community through the Steam community features. Also the Graffiti Bombing website (http://www.graffitibombing.com) will eventually offer a support / community feedback feature.

Plus, after launching into EA our development backlog will also be made publicly accessible. So then it will be possible for the community to submit bugs and send feedback directly to the development team!”
